About this property

The Laurel Bed And Breakfast

The Laurel is a one-suite bed and breakfast with private bath, sunroom and private gated entry located in the heart of Mid-City. The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and the Endymion Mardi Gras Parade are both a 10-minute walk away. The French Quarter and Central Business District are just a 10-minute drive away. There is a bus stop and the street car line within walking distance (5 minutes) which runs to both of these destinations. It is in a residential neighborhood and is only a 5-minute walk to City Park and The New Orleans Museum of Art.

Guests are requested to provide an estimated time of arrival on the arrival day. Airline and flight numbers are appreciated.

Guests enter through the main gate at 3626 Delgado then proceed to the upper front porch and ring the doorbell.

There are two cats who reside at the Laurel, Billy & Koshka (from Russia!).

We offer a continental breakfast of croissants, muffins, assorted pastries, orange juice, coffee/tea. Special requests for non-cooked items are welcomed (yogurt, cereal, etc).

The private guest area sunroom has a mini refrigerator with ice trays/freezer, dishes, utensils, coffee maker & cups. A microwave oven is also in the guest area. Ground coffee and condiments are provided.

Guests use the private entrance, which brings them directly into the sunroom portion of the guest suite.

Our rate is based on single & double occupancy. There is no discount for single occupancy or waiving breakfast. There is an additional charge of $30/person per night for more than 2 persons. The double size sleeper sofa in the sunroom is available for guest #3 & #4.

We do not allow smoking, candles, oil lamps, incense or any other flammable items in the house or on any of the porches.

We cannot host children younger than 15 years old.

There is plenty of on-street parking and off-street parking is available upon request.

The home is a beautiful 2-story stucco structure with a red Spanish tile roof. It is architecturally unique and interesting with its arched doorways and doors. The original structure is intact with very few changes to the original design. There are original wood floors and ceramic tiles which have been beautifully restored. The long center hallway serves as the perfect photo gallery for Eliot's photos.

The raised front porch and the front courtyard-style patio is wonderful and a great place to just sit and do nothing. The corner lot offers a beautiful view of the peaceful surroundings of the neighborhood.

Guests can enjoy City Park's Museum of Art, botanical gardens and new walking park.

Laura and Eliot Kamenitz have owned and resided in their home since May 1995. They are the fifth and current owners of this 1924 raised cottage-style house. Laura is a retired Chemical Engineer and Eliot is a retired professional Photographer.

The Laurel is licensed with the City of New Orleans and has been in operation since 1996. Member PIANO, Professional Innkeepers of New Orleans. Mayoralty Permit 198945. XSTR Exemption 23-XSTR-11784.

Come join us and enjoy the experience of being 'At Home in New Orleans' with Laura and Eliot.

A lovely 100 year old home in a quiet, tree lined section of Mid-City with a separate entrance, separate sitting room with lots of windows, a very clean bathroom and comfortable bed. Great place to stay and really nicely located for Jazz Fest or activities in City Park or on Bayou St. John. Friendly host. Highly recommnded,

This experience was MAGICAL! My son and I traveled to New Orleans for his 30th birthday. We knew we wanted to spend time in the French Quarter and also stay in a charming neighborhood that so encapsulates the mystery and wonder of New Orleans. At our owner-occupied B & B, our space had a private entrance with a sunroom, bedroom, and bathroom. Imagine an oversized beautiful hotel room. I slept in the sunroom which had a very comfortable pull-out sofa. My son had the bedroom (his birthday) and it felt like we each had our own little areas. The property is gorgeous and in easy walking distance of local establishments. Enjoy the views of the neighborhood while you walk! The house and gardens are a marvel, and our hostess was perfection - the right amount of guidance while also allowing us privacy. We loved her! We will definitely be back and we highly recommend this gem. (Photo of my son and me in City Park by The Laurel Bed and Breakfast)

Excellent!

We arrived and Laura had everything ready for us, a great breakfast of warm muffins and croissants, yogurt, juice, and coffee. The house is super cute and the area we had was perfect. We had our own entrance so as not to bother anyone else. We had an issue with our check out days plans and she was very accommodating! If we are in town again we will for sure stay here.

Like staying with Friends

It was a very relaxed stay at the Laurel Bed and Breakfast and enjoyed meeting Laura and Elliot. Beautiful yard in safe neighborhood close to my favorite City Park and Bayou St. John. Walking from this location is great! Nice suite. Easy come and go from the house and easy parking on the street. Will be back.

A Delight

If you want to stay in a lovely home in a beautiful, quiet, residential neighborhood of New Orleans, within easy walking distance of good cafes, the City Park and art museum, and only a few blocks walk to catch the Canal Street streetcar which takes you directly into town to the French Quarter, then Laurel B&B is for you. The accommodations include a large bedroom, attached bathroom, and attached sun room, within the spacious, antique-filled house of the hosts. There is a lovely sitting porch in the front, plus a fountain and a mosaic-decorated pergola. Laura and Eliot were great hosts, very helpful with city and sights suggestions, and they served a continental breakfast each morning on their beautiful, handmade ceramic dishes. Their house and the experience of staying there oozes charm and individuality. We would return in a second. Dan and Joyce

A charming bed and breakfast

My sister and I stayed here for three nights and were overjoyed at our space, and especially at the hospitality from Laura. This is a substantial home in an absolutely beautiful walk friendly neighborhood. We walked to Cedar Park two days in a row to enjoy the sculpture garden and the art museum. We walked daily in the neighborhood googling at all the different homes with their beautiful façades and gardens. Laura prepared a lovely continental breakfast for us each morning with French press, coffee, local croissants, and muffins, yogurt and fruit. That coffee was so good. I did yoga in the front courtyard in the afternoons and felt like I was at a fancy spa and resort. Two big thumbs up for this place.

Laura was a delightful host. She was so generous, even going to pick up a pizza I'd ordered the night I arrived, since I hadn't had a chance to have dinner. She was kind and accommodating, and I couldn't have asked for a nicer host.

October Wedding Trip

Our stay at the Laurel Bed and Breakfast was wonderful. From the moment we arrived, Laura was a kind and lovely host. Despite our late arrival, she stayed up to greet us, ensuring we were comfortable and familiar with the space — she gave us a tour and a helpful list of neighborhood spots. Throughout our stay, Laura struck the perfect balance of being available to answer questions while giving us plenty of privacy to enjoy our time. The accommodations were spacious and comfortable for two people — you have plenty of room to lounge, rest and get ready. The only minor suggestion we would make is a potential upgrade of the pillows for an even more restful night’s sleep. This isn’t a deal breaker however and everything else was truly fabulous, and we would happily stay here again! Thank you, Laura, for a wonderful visit! We’ll definitely be keeping this on our list for future trips to New Orleans.

Good Times

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3-night stay! Our host was very accommodating. We enjoyed our conversations with Laura, our hostess. She was very interesting and informative. She offered some good suggestions on restaurants in the area. We really liked the Sante Fe restaurant. The food was excellent, very fresh. The location of the property was perfect. Many facilities are in walking distance, including the city park which we visited several times. In addition we found the street car transportation to be conveniently located. We used it to go to the French Quarter which is just a few miles away. We liked staying in a quiet neighborhood which this location provided. It will definitely be our go to if and when we visit the Big Easy again!!
