Un sogno siciliano

Abbiamo trascorso un soggiorno dei sogni nella Villa Maruzza, un angolo del paradiso, sopra Trabia. Nella villa esiste un carattere quasi incantato, con tutti i pianti e arbori che ci si trovano. E infine con una vista fantastica sul Mare Tirreno, in alcuni giorni si può persino vedere l´isola di Alicudi! La regione é bellissima, con montagne imponenti fino alla costa che dopo vengono sostituite da un mare dalle acque limpidissime. Questo si chiama il Golfo di Termini Imerese - E cioé puro Mediterraneo- La padrona Mariella e sua figlia Francesca sono state sempre disponibili per qualsiasi domanda e dubbio. Hanno anche messo a nostra disposizione l´altro appartamento, perche era libero! Dove si può trovare ancora oggi comportamento cosí? Mille grazie di nuovo per questo! L´uncia cosa che si potrebbe menzionare é l´accesso e la strada verso l´alto, che non é cosí facile, ma dopo averlo fatto un paio di volte era tutto buono e facile! Grazie Francesca e Mariella, speriamo che possiamo tornare un giorno.

Sicilia bedda!

L’appartamento si trova all’interno di un’ampia proprietà, con molto verde. Ideale per 2 persone, cucina piccola, per il resto tutto ok. Si gode di un ampia vista sul mare. Al nostro arrivo la padrona di casa Mariella, persona gentile e cortese, ci ha fatto trovare latte, zucchero, caffè, sale, acqua fresca in frigo, letto fatto, bagno con asciugami, bagnoschiuma e saponi vari. Indispensabile avere l’auto. La pecca è che per raggiungere le spiagge più belle, (se si vuole girare la costa) bisogna fare molta strada. Il mare sottostante è comunque bello ma con poca spiaggia. Il paese di Trabia classico paesello del meridione con tutti i servizi ma non offre svaghi.

Ich wollte ein paar Tage zwischen all dem Sight Seeing entspannen. Das war sehr gut möglich. Als kleine Anmerkung: Die Terrasse auf dem Titelbild gehört nicht zum Haus

Maybe not for everyone, but just what we were looking for

Small friendly town, good location for visiting nearby attractions (Palermo, Cefalu, Marsala). Villa was clean and had everything we needed. The kitchen was small (not really suitable for cooking or preparing large meals) and came with a toaster oven, small refrigerator, 4 burner stovetop attached to propane tank. The owners were very helpful and in general the communication was very good. We did have several days (not consecutive) where the municipality cut off the water--the owners drove into town and returned with water in containers for us to use until the service was restored. After arriving in Palermo we were late getting to the villa and the owners were very accommodating and had fruit, pizza, water, and coffee waiting for us. The unit has an air conditioner which helps cool the unit during the day (not quiet enough for sleeping, however we were there during some pretty hot days, and opening the windows at night was more than adequate for sleeping comfortably). The views from the terrace in the villa we stayed in were wonderful, and there was a laundry on site that we used a couple of times without problem. After a couple of days, and with the help of the owners, the villa really felt like home. The things we used most in Trabia itself were the supermarket, outdoor market (one morning a week), and very friendly local wine shop. As others, I will also stress you need a vehicle to access the villa, it is out of the way and having your own car is the only way to reach it. In general our visit to Sicily was wonderful, we particularly enjoyed Palermo and Cefalu, and also experienced some very enjoyable excursions based on the recommendations of our hosts. The food was exceptional, and we explored 6 or 7 beaches in the area. Not every beach was as clean as we hoped, but the water was always enjoyable. We found the people almost universally friendly and helpful, and felt very safe no matter where we were on the island. Not having water for a few days was inconvenient, however our hosts did the best they could to minimize the inconvenience. We are already looking forward to our next visit.
