Spacious, Modern House 5 Bedrooms, 2.5 Bathrooms, Sleep 12 on small horse farm.
Newly renovated house in the Southern Berkshires on small horse farm. Huge kitchen, 5 bedrooms. Close to Butternut mountain, Garfield Lake, Great Barrington, Lenox, Tanglewood and Jacob's Pillow. We just finished a gut renovation of this property. The kitchen has a restaurant quality stove and tons of amenities. There is a fireplace, a deck and a lovely stream that follows the line of the property. Behind the house is a small barn with four horses. The house has 5 bedrooms, four bedrooms have queen sized beds and the fifth has a bunk bed with a bottom double bed and a top single bed double and a trundle bed. The other bedrooms have queen size beds. The house has a built with an interior cooling vent which keeps the house nice and cool during the summer. Air-conditioner on main level adds to cooling.
Sorry! We do not rent the house for weddings or large events, we do not allow large parties at our house.

This was a perfect place for our family weekend gathering. Amazing kitchen, lasted yard for the children to run around, farm animals for them to see and great location.
We felt at home in this lovely home. It’s roomy and open, while being warm and cozy. It has a modern, and very well stocked kitchen…We found everything we needed to cook our Thanksgiving meal. The ground floor has an open floor plan. We loved the property, especially the horses.
Awesome weekend with family and visits with long time friends. My 7yo granddaughter wants to go once a month! This is our third year staying at the horse farm!!
This was our second time staying at Shauna's place in January and it accommodated our two families very well. Convenient to Butternut for skiing and very quiet and calming with great views of the horses. Would recommend.
Three couples with five young children. Lovely well equipped home on gorgeous property with friendly hosts who were very generous with their time letting all the kiddos see the horses. Fantastic experience across the board!
This elegant farm house in the middle of horse pastures was just an exceptional place to stay. Eclectic/tasteful interior design; amazing cooks kitchen; lots of bedrooms and so many nice touches--like phone chargers next to the beds. TV's in the bedrooms; comfy living room; serene views throughout. And, warm radiant floors in the kitchen and mud room. Wonderful host. Highly recommend this property!

Wonderful house in the Berkshires
6 other women and I rented this lovely home for a girls weekend away. It was perfect for us. The house is spacious and clean. Everything was as we expected. The owners sent an information packet that covered any question we may have had including restaurant recommendations. They also texted us before arriving and during our stay to make sure we were all set. It was a pleasure using their home for our getaway!
Fantastic house and location for Butternut ski vacation!
Gorgeous house with a fantastic open first floor layout - perfect for a large group. We stayed here for three nights for a Butternut ski vacation. Ski area was just 5 minutes away from the house. Incredibly well-stocked kitchen, cozy wood burning fireplace, very comfortable living area, and beautiful setting - it was so nice to be surrounded by horse pastures instead of just a bunch of other houses in a standard neighborhood. Made it feel like more of a real getaway. Property manager was very responsive when we contacted her with questions. (Heated kitchen floor was an unexpected bonus!)
Overall we enjoyed the stay. Great WiFi strength, kitchen was nice and had everything you can think of, laundry was nice, bedrooms were good size. Was hot and humid when we arrived but the portable ac units worked well in all bedrooms. Struggled in the main living area and kitchen but never got over 76 degrees. Little thrown by the gate. Makes sense it was there to keep chickens in but we were not aware and you have to open and close every time you come in. Not a deal breaker but annoying in the rain. Downstairs shower had good pressure, upstairs did not at all. Living room has a slight odor of pet urine as described in another review but keep in mind people this is a pet friendly house! Owner was very responsive ahead of check in and on arrival. (Please note there is no workout equipment as pictured and I think another pic of the deck was not of this home). Everything else was as described.
The house was beautiful. The kitchen was updated and modern. Two bedrooms downstairs were nice but no AC so it was a bit hot. Three bedrooms upstairs had AC and beds were very comfy. Bathrooms were very nice and had great showers.
The property is lovely and we would have enjoyed more time outside but it was very rainy. There were beautiful horses and folks that ride the horses during the days. We enjoyed watching the equestrians riding through the jumps.
We were in the area for Tanglewood this time and the drive was about 30 minutes away. Great Barrington was 10 minutes down the road. It was really great to be in a more secluded space!
Cons:
The code lock was confusing to me. Then it stopped working all together. Not a big deal since someone was usually in the house. A keypad lock would be much more intuitive.
My son slept on the trundle bed and woke up with tons of bug bites after the first night. I'm 99% sure it wasn't bed bugs because no one else had them and they would have spread. The trundle was under the bed so I'm assuming some bugs took some residence there. We changed the sheets and no new bites happened after that.
No major complaints - both of the cons I mentioned were not show stoppers and we would return to this property.
The ratings tell it all. Not only were the owners really nice and helpful, but it is an operating horse farm and everyone was extremely nice (including the horses).
Shauna's place is gorgeous and even bigger than it looks in photos! We had a party of 12 and we fit comfortably. Lovely kitchen for making breakfast and lunch, plenty of lawn space for tossing a frisbee. Shauna was super communicative. We hope to stay again!
Perfect farm for the kids (and dogs) to run watch the horses, see sheep and enjoy the swing in the front. Spacious kitchen, dining room and living room for our family of 8 plus toddlers. Easy and scenic drive to lakes, parks, Stockbridge and Lenox. Perfect week for everyone in every way.
Shauna and Erik's house was perfect for our two family ski weekend. Enough space for everyone to spread out and very well equipped. Convenient to Butternut and Catamount. The kids loved seeing the horses and sheep roam around the property.
Would recommend!
The house was beautiful. Our favorite rooms were the kitchen, dining room and family room. The fire place was so warm and cozy. We loved the yard to throw the frisbee and football with the kids and enjoyed sitting around the fire pit .The horses gave it a special farmhouse aura. Perfect location, so close to Butternut and Great Barrington.
Home and property were fantastic. The home was beautiful and everything was as described. The property was exceptional and the all the animals (horses, sheep, chickens, cats) added to the fun for our grandchildren. The owners and caretakers of the horses were wonderful . Everything we wanted to do in the area was convenient. Overall we had a fantastic stay at this property and I would highly recommend it. Communication with the property owner was easy and very friendly.
Everything about our experience staying in the New Marlboro house was outstanding. The house is beautiful, spotless, and in the perfect spot to enjoy all the attractions of the Berkshires, including outdoor activities, cultural venues, and great eating opportunities. In addition, the owner is extraordinarily gracious.
We had an absolutely wonderful week thanks to our stay in this New Marlboro house.
This 5 bedroom property was perfect for a family reunion of 9 adults and a toddler.
The welcoming committee consisted of two chickens, who seemed to think they are members of the family, and the horses and sheep also provided entertainment.
The fully-equipped kitchen is perfect for people who like to cook, which was very helpful with a large group.
Stayed on Shaunas property with extended family for a long Easter weekend. The house was clean and accommodated our 3 families perfectly (6 adults 4 children aged 7mos-5yrs). The kitchen and large island was perfect for cooking Easter dinner and gathering together, and the living room was so cozy, especially the big fireplace! I loved the eclectic and unique style of the furnishings and decor and art. The horses on the property were amazing, the kids loved to watch them- just be careful of the electric fencing (she’s fine!). We had a great time exploring the property and the creek across the street, and especially enjoyed all the hiking the area has to offer. We hiked Campbell Falls at the CT/MA border, Bish Bash Falls at the NY/MA border, and Benedict Pond Trail, all within 10-40 minute drive and all very manageable for all ages. The town of Great Barrington looked very cute, however we did not get the chance to explore town much. Shauna was a responsive host and made everything so simple for check in and check out. My only critique was the house advertised a treadmill and eliptical in one of the bedrooms, which we did not find. It wasn’t a big deal for us and we didn’t inquire about it. However, if that is a factor in your booking consideration I’d reach out first to confirm about the exercise equipment. We would highly reccomend a stay at Shaunas property!
We were a family of 10, coming for the weekend. The house accommodated all of us comfortably, and was an open design so that we were always together. The best part was the kitchen, which is gorgeous and equipped with absolutely everything you can think of.
The host was delightful and the weekend was perfect!
Perfect friends trip with small children. The property is beautiful and close to orchards, breweries and town. The house is clean and large - plenty of space! We really enjoyed our time!

About the host
Hosted by Shauna Burke
A little about us: Erik and Shauna are Brooklynites who needed a bit of fresh air every now and again. (As did their 12 year old son and their dog)!So they decided to buy a 'fixer-upper' in New Marlborough MA. They then fixed and fixed and fixed their 'fixer-upper' until it became their DREAM HOME. Soon the family met amazing neighbors who brought a horse, chickens and rabbits to live in the barn on the property.
So with the house and surrounding land now complete they began to enjoy their lovely new home. But alas Shauna and Erik both have their own businesses, Shauna is a jewelry designer ( and Erik owns an online costume website ( There are many weekends and holidays that they cannot enjoy their house so they decided to share!
We invite you to come and experience our beautiful home. We love it and have spent many a memorable weekend enjoying the house and the surrounding area.
Enjoy! -- Erik & Shauna
Why they chose this property
The house and the surrounding area are magical to us. The house is spacious and the kitchen is amazing. The land is beautiful. We love the fact that we are completely surrounded by nature but just 10 minutes from Great Barrington and some wonderful restaurants and shops. During the winter you can ski and snow-shoe, during the summer you can hike, bike and swim in local lakes or enjoy local cultural events. We are close to Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow and many summer festivals.
What makes this property unique
Less than 10 minutes from Butternut mountain for skiing and 20 minutes from Catamount. 20 minutes from Jacob's Pillow and Tanglewood for wonderful summer events.
