Beautiful house with extended garden giving lots of privacy. Large terrace with even larger swimming pool is ideal for families. Within short driving distance of village which has lots of eateries. Highly recommend
This is a fabulous property. It was perfect for our family of 4 adults and two children, ages 7 and 10. (When we weren't out exploring the region, the children were in the pool...morning, noon and night!)The location was very centrally located for exploring all of the sights we wished to visit in the Dordogne: caves, castles, market villages, renowned gardens, etc. Of note: the owner's parents greeted us on arrival, and had provided wine and some lovely food which we had for dinner the night we got there, a wonderful surprise after a long day of travel. My family members all agreed that this was our favorite property out of all the vacation rentals we've enjoyed over the years.
This place is terrific. Of the many houses/apartments I’ve rented on VRBO, this was by far the best. It was one of the few places where the house is actually nicer than the pictures, and the pictures are very nice indeed. The hosts were gracious and helpful, and the house was stocked with welcoming wine, pate and cheeses. This is a winner. Jonathan Zavin
We had a fabulous time at the villa, it was a lovely place to spend two weeks. The location is peaceful and pretty, the pool was a welcome retreat in the heat and the house itself was impressive. The air conditioning worked really well, as did all the appliances. The bathrooms were very nice and clean. We also took our cavapoo who enjoyed the large garden. While there is a fence or electric fence surrounding the majority of the property, we did not feel it was secure enough to let our dog off-lead as we knew there were areas he could get out or under, but he is a small dog. It got particularly hot while we were there (August - pure sun every day!) and we asked if there were any additional fans, the owner arranged for them to be with us the same day, which was greatly appreciated. Les Eyzies is a lovely small town and the villa is really well situated for exploring the region. During our stay we went on canoe trips down both the Vezere and Dordogne rivers, which we really enjoyed with our teenage sons. My parents also came with us and loved the area and house.
We had a wonderful time - the house is even more beautiful than the photographs. The garden is enclosed which is hard to see on the pictures but made it great for our dog. There is absolutely everything you could need in the kitchen and the house had a lovely atmosphere. We would love to return
We, a family of 5 and two dogs, received a very warm and friendly welcome. This typical classic French villa is beautiful with a stunning entrance, a professional kitchen equipped with everything you need (and more), very comfortable bedrooms and a private infinity pool with a beautiful view overlooking the valley. This place gave us a sense of peace and tranquility, while our kids enjoyed the (slightly cool) swimming pool. We had a wonderful time!
La Truffiere is a fantastic home. Has all of the comforts, great design, very spacious, wonderful grounds, delightful pool and lounge area, and remarkable view. Alain and Genevieve are wonderful hosts and are available for any questions you might have. The area is great for exploring and then relaxing at La Truffiere. We had a great time.
After spending a week at this wonderful property last year we were lucky enough to be able to spend two weeks at La Truffiere this year. Once again we had an absolutely wonderful stay. Everything about the property is fab, from the pool and grounds, to the wonderfully equipped kitchen and location near Les Eyzies-de-Tayac. Luc is a wonderful host, ably supported by his lovely mother and father, who live close by and are on hand if you need anything. Very little can compare to the view over the surrounding valleys and oak forests as you enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine. We will most definitely be returning (again)!
This delightful villa was spacious, extremely well equipped, and professionally decorated. Our three couple party were very comfortable here, and the location , seven minutes from Les Eyzies, was great for location for exploring the valley and provided a convenient selection of excellent restaurants. It was too chilly to enjoy the pool, but it looked inviting and the vista of lawn and woods from the back veranda was great.
Alain"s parents provided a warm welcome and close proximity for any questions or issues.
All in all a wonderful holiday.
Amazing villa with private pool, beautiful views and great location
The villa is fantastic and equipped with everything you need. The kitchen is set up to a professional standard, the lounge is spacious, the bedrooms are very comfortable and there are plenty of bathrooms for all guests. The inside was spotlessly clean and very well presented with lots of attention to detail, making it feel like a luxury hotel and making us feel very welcome.
The owners greeted us on arrival and did a great job of showing us around the property, and also left some very nice local food and wine as a welcome gift.
The outside of the property is absolutely spectacular, with outstanding views across the valley from the private terrace, and the main focus for much of our holiday, the large heated swimming pool and sun deck.
The property and grounds are expertly kept and maintained, which helps to create a perfect relaxing holiday experience.
The local town is nearby with all the amenities you need, and there are plenty of other beautiful towns and villages to visit within a short drive.
We've stayed at many great villas in many different countries and this is one of the very best. We'll be back!
This is a lovely house in a beautiful rural setting. Our only recommendation to the property owners would be to update the bedding, specifically in the primary bedroom upstairs. The mattress was extremely hard and uncomfortable.
Also, the description suggests it is a 4 minute walk to the National History Museum and 13 minute walk to the Les Eyzies train station. Unless there is a path through the woods that we did not find, the road to town is unwalkable and dangerous.
The five of us spent a wonderful week in this large, comfortable and beautiful house located close to Les Eyzies, right in the middle of the Dordogne region. We were warmly welcomed by Luc and his parents and the house is perfectly equipped, including a very nice and clean swimming pool with a magnificient view.
The property was beautiful and well equipped. Everything you could possibly need was available to us. The location was fantastic and we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay.
La truffiere is a beautiful house in a lovely area, with fantastic views and a wonderful swimming pool. It is very well situated for a wide variety of activities from the prehistoric caves, to canoeing on the Vezere, to visiting one of the marvellous castles. Luc and his parents were very accommodating, friendly and responsive. We definitely hope to stay again one day!
My Family and I (including my dog Asta) thoroughly enjoyed our stay at La Truffiere. We were warmly welcomed by the lovely father and mother of the owner (who live close by).
A gift basket as well was awaiting for us on our arrival, along with a lovely bottle of Bordeaux wine that we thought was one of the best ever. We even searched for it, to buy to no avail.
We were all incredibly appreciative of the welcome and the home. The home is exactly as the pictures show. The space is delightful and very spacious. The location and the views were highlights, as was the fantastically well appointed (professional) kitchen. The home has every Glass and dish imaginable and more than enough for a party of 12 or 15. The outdoor stone patio table had a nice cover that made eating outside a joy. In addition to two huge, beautiful umbrellas.
Communication was excellent via VRBO app and upon arrival. Be aware the address given by VRBO once the home is booked is slightly incorrect. Not to worry as you get the correct address prior to your arrival. Also, if a guest were to use Google maps (satellite view) the home is easily identifiable. It is 7 minutes outside Les Eyzies. Super Convenient to all area attractions.
We stayed in late May and the temps were quite high. The home was cool as the AC worked perfectly. The outdoor areas were a highlight with my wife, especially the Petanque area that has a light, the pool, and outdoor dining area with incredible views.
I asked my Mother in Law and her sister to rate the home on a scale of 1-5. They both simultaneously said 10! Everyone in our group agreed that we would return and there was nothing the owners could do to make the stay any more fantastic.
All in all a wonderful experience had by everyone. A lovely home and a lovely family.
This was our second visit to this wonderful home. The owners have not forgotten a thing to make your vacation extremely comfortable. We can’t wait to return. It is always such a pleasure!
We spent a wonderful week in a magnificent country house in Dordogne. Amazing views, both in the day of the beautiful countryside, and at night with the clearest starry nights. The facilities were top notch with many amenities supplied gratis by the owners. The kitchen was fit for a Michelin star chef and the great room serviced by a humungous fire place. What luxury. Even the barbecue was in itself a building to cook and enjoy the large patio to eat alfresco. We were looked after by Luc who was an outstanding host giving us the highest level of professionalism and also being a great guy as well. Nothing was too much and he was always ready to help us when needed. Could not have asked for a better stay. We hope to do this again next year. Bravo La Truffiere!
