Set on a beautiful seven acres of wooded hillside, Homestead Hideaway offers you a unique opportunity to rest and relax within a peaceful setting. Located just 15 Miles from Galena, Illinois, our cabins in the woods can be your home away from home while you enjoy Galena, Chestnut Mountain, hiking, wineries, and all the other amenities Jo Daviess County has to offer.
When you stay at Homestead Hideaway, you can simply relax in our cozy rustic cabins, or get out and enjoy everything the area has to offer. At Homestead Hideaway you can expect a tranquil feel and a stress free retreat. The cabins are located in a beautiful rural area where it is perfect to have a cup of coffee or tea in the mornings and enjoy the wildlife. Let our cabins be a chance to unplug from the world and help ensure you have a relaxed and secluded stay. We have fiber internet, but no cable TV.

We have two historic cottages located on the property and three separate rentals. The cabins are located on opposite ends of the property. You can enjoy the seven acres of wooded area by hiking or taking your dog for a walk. Whether you are planning a romantic trip to Galena, a golfing trip, a couple’s getaway, a wine lovers weekend, or skiing at Chestnut Mountain during the winter months, Homestead Hideaway will accommodate to your needs.

We have decided to go beyond the brochure advertising and word of mouth and work with VRBO for our rentals. Do not hesitate to ask any questions.

This rental is for the Brimeyer cabin. It has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. One bedroom is located on the top level with a King bed. The second bedroom is on the bottom level with a queen bed. The main level has a kitchen and a living/dining area. There is also a sofa sleeper in the living/dining area.

The other cabin on the property also has two rentals on this website. The top two levels of the other cabin is the Seven Sisters Suite vrbo # 623038. The lower level/unit of the cabin is our Gleneagle Suite which is also listed on VRBO #624157


We have passes available for ACL Nixon beach (15 minute drive) and ACL pool. Open memorial day- labor day each year. You must speak to host prior to arrival for information. You must have tags and parking passes for these amenities and there is a fee from security deposit IF LOST TAGS

Very well maintained and pretty cabin. Definitely a break from everything; to relax and enjoy the quietness and peacefulness of nature. I highly recommend this place to stay. Also, not very far from Galena, another small but beautiful town.

Great cabin secluded but close to a lot

The cabin itself was very secluded even though there was a cabin at the bottom of the hill. It may have been in the country but there was so much to do in the surrounding area. So close to Iowa and Wisconsin as well.The cabin was perfect. Will stay again.

Always Wonderful

My husband and I have been coming to these cabins for many years now with our pups and the cabins/property have never disappointed us. It is one of our favorite get aways. We have brought several friends with us over the past years. The trails are wonderful, the nature and quietness is unbeatable and it is only 20 minutes from Galena! We cannot wait to visit again!

Perfect Family Vacation

We had an amazing time at the cabin!! We had family visit from Kansas for my Husband’s birthday, our dog Eisenhower came with and I gifted a 1.5 year old female basset hound while at the cabin we call Eloise! Deep Woods Get Away

We were looking for a low-key, relaxing getaway. This rental was perfect. It’s a rustic cabin in the woods, very private. Even though it was a rustic cabin, it still had all the conveniences of a modern home. Our favorite part was having a warm fire in the stove during the cold evening. During the stay we had a question and the owner responded to our text right away. This is a great find and we will be coming back!

Quiet, comfortable retreat

This is the place to go if you want to get away from it all and disconnect for a bit. There's no internet, no TV stations, and the setting is so peaceful and serene. It's fairly close though to shopping in Galena and restaurants, but the nightlife is just stars and quiet. Comfortable, clean and peaceful.

Delightful Cabin Stay!

We desperately needed a break in our busy summer schedule to reconnect and just chill. Galena is always a favorite of ours and we typically do the B&B thing. This time we decided to search for something a little more secluded and off the usual path. We absolutely loved the location of this delightful, charming cabin. The interior was very clean with plenty of furnishings. We appreciated that the accommodations were pet friendly, Lucy approved as well! :) We very much enjoyed the back deck to unwind each evening with a couple of cocktails. The sounds of birds chirping was so lovely. We also enjoyed the scenic drive to and from town, we felt we had the best of both worlds! The location was wonderfully quiet with no passing traffic. We highly recommend booking here and will definitely return!

Quiet, Cozy, Comfortable!

This property is as advertised, secluded, quiet, & peaceful. There is one other cabin on the property that is also rented, but it is at the front of the gravel drive, and this is the back, so no noisy neighbors, as you find yourself in the middle of the country with corn fields and cows around. We felt like this was a great location to take advantage of Galena without being in the hustle and bustle of it all. We also enjoyed hiking at Apple River Canyon State Park, kayaking at Apple Canyon Lake (which the property has parking and beach passes for you to use as it is private). We enjoyed visiting the town of Elizabeth as well and visiting the massive antiques store there. All of these were within a 30 minute drive (or less). The property was clean, well furnished, and had everything that we needed. Stargazing at night and quiet campfires were so wonderful to enjoy. We had an awkward situation with the other group staying there, but was really not the fault of the property owner, and she helped us resolve the situation.

We loved staying at this cabin, and will definitely look this property up if going to the Galena area again. Our three bigger kids enjoyed the room upstairs with the king bed, and my partner and I and the baby had the downstairs room. The cabin was well off from the quiet road with lots of little trails mowed so it was fun and relaxing to go exploring. Our dog had a great time. Even the balcony and the patio behind the cabin were really cleaned up, completely ready for use. Fantastic place.
