Welcome to ASHWOOD RENTALS - E101

THE MOST ACCESSIBLE CONDO at THE MOST ACCESSIBLE SKI RESORT IN THE SOUTH EAST!!!
Dedicated high speed wireless for Ashwood Rentals guests instead of shared access with the rest of the building!

I OFFER SUMMER MONTHLY RENTALS!!! (Traveling nurses, Pipeline workers, Construction workers, etc...)

The condo is located on the FIRST FLOOR of the Winterhaven complex and is the closest to the parking lot and is the easiest condo to get in and out of with all of your gear. The building does not have an elevator so if you rent on the second or third floor then be prepared to carry all of your luggage up and down some cold and snowy walkways when you arrive. The last thing you want to have to do on vacation is carry all of your heavy stuff up multiple flights of stairs after driving so stay in my condo on the first floor and avoid all of that nonsense!

Get your exercise on the slopes and not on the stairs!!!

As you walk into the front door you enter the bunk room where there is a bunk bed and storage for ski boots and skis. Bunk beds have new memory foam mattresses! There are mats on the floors for the ski boots and ski holders on the walls for the skis! Very convenient!!!

Through the bunk room takes you into the rest of the condo where down the hallway on the right is one of the bedrooms that has a new queen bed with a new super comfortable memory foam mattress and flat screen TV. In addition there is a full bath with shower and tub.

To the left and down the hallway takes you into the open kitchen and living room area. The kitchen has a full size stove, oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, and microwave. Your morning will start off perfectly as you wake up and start to make coffee in the full size coffee maker which sits beside the kitchen sink and at the same time you can look out the kitchen window and see the ski slopes and ski lifts!

In the living room there is a futon that converts into a bed as well as another large comfy sectional that all face into the wood burning fireplace. If you`re coming skiing and staying at a slopeside condo then you have to have a wood burning fireplace! Make sure you don`t forget to bring some wood or fireplace logs (they do sell them at the gas station right off the interstate in case you forget).

Walk through the living room and on the right is a sliding glass door that takes you to the oversized deck which overlooks the slopes and the picturesque WV mountains. On the left is the other bedroom which also has a new super comfortable memory foam mattress queen bed with private bathroom and shower. There`s also a flat screen TV in this bedroom with cable just in case you want to catch some TV.

If renting for only a Thursday and Friday then both nights will be charged at weekend rate. If renting Thursday, Friday, Saturday then Thursday will be weekday rate and Friday/Saturday will be weekend rate.

Laundry facilities are community on second floor of building.

We highly recommend that you purchase travel insurance. Problems can arise in multiple ways and travel insurance can be a low cost guard against losing your money if you have last minute problems and have to cancel. In the past, some of our guests have obtained insurance by going to various insurance sites for details and to purchase. We did call the people at InsureMyTrip and they do have plans that will cover for Covid issues but there are several important steps and needs to be done shortly after making your first deposit. The plans are called `Cancel For Any Reason` CFAR. Check with your insurance agent before deciding what insurance to purchase. We DO NOT endorse any insurance in particular.

Very Nice!!

The condo was decorated very cute! Very nice outside furniture to enjoy the deck and the cool mountain air. Nice granite countertops and kitchen, it was very helpful to have coffee, sugar, cream and filters already on site. Comfortable beds. Overall perfect place for our golf weekend! We really enjoyed this condo!

Enjoyed the convenience of the condo. Enjoyed the convenience. Did I say that? Beautiful sun rises and views of the slopes. Can't beat the first floor. We were disappointed that the lounge was closed (for repairs?), but managed just fine. Good value.

Fun on the slopes

My family has traveled to Winterplace Ski Resort for the last 5 years and this was the first time we have stayed in the condos for ski in ski out. This is the only way we will travel again! The condo was nicely updated compared to other units in the building. 1st floor convenience with ski and boots was a definite plus. I would suggest bringing wood for the fireplace. We had extremely cold weather and great snow but the HVAC would not have been enough to stay warm with the cold temperatures. I would highly recommend this unit. We plan on visiting again for sure.

What a great time!

I have stayed in several of the condo units over the years and this one is at the top of the list. We were fortunate enough to experience all of the snow from Jonas and didn't have a minute's trouble with the roads(did have to engage four wheel drive a couple of times). We left Sunday morning and being so close to the interstate, we had NO issues heading home. The unit was clean and the wood burning fireplace was awesome. The owner communicates very quickly and we had no problems at all. We had teens with us and the only complaint I can muster is the WiFi is very slow. I think it is shared and acts like it is dial up. It suited me just fine to be "off the grid", but those that need/want it will be frustrated. If there is another trip to Winterplace in my future, I hope to be able to stay in this condo again!!

Great location but will not be returning

Upon arriving it was clear the unit had not been cleaned (dirty counters, floors, dishes, unmade beds, etc.) I contacted David, who in turn contacted the cleaning service who stated they had been. There were no towels (David said they no longer provided however it was stated on app and in room that they were. App has now been updated), he was kind enough to provide code to owners closet that contained towels and linens so I could change bed sheets. I spent the first night cleaning (after purchasing cleaning supplies at convenience store) and changing sheets while my family went snowboarding. David was very responsive, I provided him pictures and he met with cleaning service in hopes of preventing a occurrence. We were refunded $85 for the trouble, barely covered the lift ticket I couldn't use but I was appreciative that he acknowledged the problem and took steps to prevent it in the future. We were also unable to take showers the first night because the water smelled like rotten eggs so we had to run water from water heater and wait until it filled with fresh water. (water had sit in water heater for a month, since the last guest) The "large comfy couch" was like sitting on springs with a blanket and the "new memory foam mattresses" had pieces of foam missing.

Property owner provided code to enter condo prior to arrival. Condo was clean but furniture was “worn out.” Coffee maker worked at times but not always! Worst of all was … No Air Conditioning!

Adequate, but a little outdated.

We had a good stay, and we were comfortable. The fixtures in the bathrooms are pretty outdated. The location was great, and it was very pet friendly, with plenty of mowed area. The rear deck is nice. The road up the mountain is gravel and pretty rough. Plenty of room for everyone to sleep, and comfortable mattresses.

Incorrect info, dirty and broken

The check in time information online was incorrect. When I asked if we could check in early according to the online time posted he agreed. When we arrived they had not even cleaned the room nor had it on the list to clean. We had to wait in our car as I had a scheduled skiing lesson soon after and needed to get in there. We had to sit in our car and wait for an hour. When we got in to the condo, It was still dirty. They did not cleaned out the refrigerator only checked to make sure there was no food in it. There were spiderwebs and dust everywhere. Two of the glass doors, the bedroom and the living room were broken. The bedroom door you could not open at all to go onto the deck and the living room you can go out but you could not lock it, it would not shut all the way. I called and asked about this to see if we could get some sort of discount and nothing was ever compensated. The location was the only plus.

Fun trip

Nice place. Anyone else that goes make sure you take firewood and quarters for the community washer and dryer. The places that are close do not sell any firewood and didn’t want to change any quarters. You will need firewood if it is going to be chilly. The baseboard heat didn’t get the temp much higher than 60.

Great place to stay near the ski slope!

This is our second time staying at the condos at Winterplace. If you haven't stayed at Winterplace before- it is a bit outdated. I am always underwhelmed when I get there, but we leave with great memories. I loved the location of this condo! The lower level made loading and unloading the car much easier, especially since there are 5 of us and we had a ton of stuff. I also liked not having to climb the stairs in ski boots. BRING TOWELS- This condo does not have any towels- no bath towels, hand towels, kitchen towels (or pot holders). I'm so glad I read the fine print on this in the car before we got there, so I was able to pick some up at Walmart. I would have been so upset if we arrived there after a long drive to find we needed to go back into town for towels. The wood burning fireplace was great! We finally found somewhere local to get firewood next to the restaurant, Eatalian, though we might have found some cheaper if we drove further into town. It would have been nice to have a dryer. The weather was extra cold and wet this trip. Our stuff would get coated in ice. My husband made many runs to the laundry room on the second floor to dry all our ski clothes out for the next day. Thankfully, the one dryer they have was always available. We went through a lot of quarters. The beds are comfortable, which is always a big deal for me. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, and the owner was gracious enough to let us check-out late, so we were able to ski in the morning before we left.

Great location, right on the slopes, very convenient

The location could not be better for this condo!! It located at the top of a fairly easy slope (perfect for beginners). Overall we loved our stay!! Just a few things to keep in mind for your visit, the kitchen is not very well stocked, plan to cook easy things (basically freezer foods would be best), and the hot water heater is small, shower quickly and you should be fine though. It also wasn’t the cleanest condo I’ve ever stayed in, not nasty but not spotless, we vacuumed when we got there and bought new bathroom mats. I had hoped to be able to squeeze an air mattress into one of the bedrooms so no one had to sleep on the living room futon. While the bedrooms where to small for that to happen the living room couch was very comfy!!! We really enjoyed our stay! The living room has plenty of seating for your group and the coffee table is perfect for games!! Make sure you bring your fire wood and you’ll have lots of fun evenings after a day on the slopes!! It was the perfect condo for a quick weekend on the slopes!

So convenient!

We were very pleased with the accommodations. Everything was so convenient, and to be able to walk out the door and ski down the trail and take the lift right back up to the condo was exactly what we were looking for. The owner is very nice and helpful and immediately took care of any issues we had, which were very minor and few. Loved being able to drink our coffee on the deck with the beautiful view of the mountain. We brought all of our own food to cook there, and the kitchen had everything we needed. There is a Dollar General close by if you forget or need something, and a couple of small restaurants as well. We are regular Colorado skiers, but needed a place closer for a quick trip and Winterplace did not disappoint. Obviously it’s a smaller mountain than what we are used to, and the snow is a tad different, but still a lot of fun and the staff was so nice and helpful as we had to swap out skis and snowboards for various reasons. Had a great time and will definitely be back!
