About this property

Livonian & Latvian Homestead "Stūrīši & Branki" offers guest accommodation in 4 houses owned by our family, quietly situated in the picturesque historic Livonian fishing village in Mazirbe, Kurzeme. Each house has a unique setting, history and style, varied types of rooms and amenities. We welcome you to get "back to basics", experience great food and hospitality in the middle of the countryside.

Breakfast is included in all bookings.

THE HOUSE:

The Summerhouse "Branki" has accommodation over two floors.
The 1st floor has a separate double bedroom, kitchen (all the tools for cooking and seasoning are available), shower, bathroom and a large, truly unique living room with a fireplace.
On the 2nd floor, there is a double bedroom suite covering the entire floor with a private living room, TV and balcony. We can easily add more beds.

Summerhouse price
To ensure privacy and seclusion for our guests, Summerhouse is always rented as the entire suite, hence, the price is the same for 1 to 3 people staying in the property for 3 nights (breakfast included).
!If you are 2 people staying 3 nights, please add another adult to your booking.!

EXTRAS:
Children are welcome and we can arrange a crib.

A traditional firewood heated sauna (hot rocks and steam) is available for hire to all guests who stay at least 3 nights.

If we have free spaces, we are happy to take on guests who wish to stay for 1-2 nights. The price per night will be +30% more per person than detailed in the booking system.

The family of "Branki" also provides excursions, guided tours and information about the local points of interest. If ordered in advance, large groups can have a meal here - up to 160 people in the summer.

NICE AND RELAXED

We stayed at "Branki" in August 2017. Everything starting from our arrival, when we were treated to a Livonian national dinner, to the very last day of our stay was superb! Sweet and very friendly atmosphere created by our charming hosts, impeccable tidiness of the place, colorful and authentic interior, as well as delisious breakfasts made our stay there unforgettable! There was a beautiful pristine beach, which was reachable through a short walk through the ancient forest, and that beach offered you a privacy that one can only dream about. 2 km to the left and 2 km to the right there was nobody. The place is a true gem, that offers you a quiet, relaxed and beautiful rest.

Herrliche Unterkunft mit liebevoller Bewirtung!

Diese urige und gemütliche Unterkunft ist jedem zu empfehlen, der Ruhe und Erholung in einer fantastischen Gegend sucht. Die Bewirtung ist einzigartig und die Vermieter von solch herzlicher Freundlichkeit, dass man sich sofort zuhause fühlt. Die Unterkunft ist sehr sauber und gepflegt, liebevoll und originell eingerichtet. Die unmittelbare Nähe zum Strand und den vielen Wanderwegen im Wald machen den Urlaub in diesem Naturschutzgebiet zu einer großartigen Erfahrung. Wenn man ein Auto dabei hat, sind Ausflüge nach Kap Kolka, Ventspils, Irbene (zum größten europäischen Radioteleskop) oder auch nach Riga (ca. Std. Fahrt) empfehlenswert. Wir würden dieses Domizil jedem ans Herz legen, der in seinem Urlaub Natur, Ruhe und Abgeschiedenheit zu schätzen weiß. Wir waren sehr begeistert!!!

As a certified cook with over 25 years of experience in cooking for legions, restaurants and my family, I truly enjoy cooking in a proper countryside kitchen.

Why they chose this property

Mazirbe is a getaway from the world. Hardly any phone reception, no internet. Instead there are miles and miles of a green, fresh pine forest. You can go pick berries, mushrooms or just for long, healthy walks. If forests are not in your fancy, there is a white sandy beach! During summers and early autumn water gets warm enough for swimming. Usually you can have the beach almost to yourself - this remote location is far away from popular routes.

If you visit during the spring-summer months, experience shortest nights with 1-2 hours between sunset and sunrise. Usually a dusky red glow during the night replaces the black winter sky. Because of the Northern location, bloom of various flowers and plants is still at the very beginning during May/June.

Visit during summer if you want to experience the heat and how amazing this location is for relaxation and reflection. Fresh, countryside food is available in the village daily, including fresh fish. Our cook will make something amazing for you!

During later months, don't hesitate. The water in the sea is still warm from summer, the night sky shows you the entire milky-way! If you are a fan of shooting stars, this is the place to be. Sauna and hot food is aplenty during the Sep-Oct period and is a welcome retreat before the busy winter.

Mazirbe has the only store within 20 to 70km radius (depending on the direction), cafe, many historical sites, stories, guides and impressions.

Rural location, with beauty and peace all around you. Come here if you truly want to get away, regain that easy feeling of a summer-house holiday and just enjoy the very fresh air, surprises, nature and food.

We rely on local farmers and their stock - all of our food is bought from great, hardworking people - supplying fresh meat, dairy products, locally-grown vegetables, individually crafted local foods (Sklandrausis, for example), berries, mushrooms and when the sea has the right conditions our village fishermen sell finger-licking good fresh fish.
