About this property
Perfect gite for a couple
This gite is part of a restored Quercy stone barn with 1 bedroom, bathroom with shower, living room and modern kitchen. It has a large covered courtyard which makes it ideal for outdoor living whatever the weather! Guests have access to the shared swimming pool. The gite is part of a former ferme auberge complex, but is independent from the other gite. Having said that - the 2 gites can be booked together for a larger group but who want some independence. A cot is available for a couple plus baby

About the host
Hosted by Jan Emery

John and Jan moved to France in April 2014 from Doncaster in South Yorkshire. Having worked in education and training, we were keen to do something different. Why France? Well it was one of those heart led decisions - we fell in love with the area, the climate and the amazing walking and wildlife. Since moving here we have become active in the local community and are members of the International Club and a local amateur dramatics group.
John is a keen rugby man - a former player, coach and referee, he is now a passionate supporter of local teams (Tournon d'agenais, Agen and Castres).
Both Jan and John are keen walkers and offer both guided and unguided walking routes to their visitors

Why they chose this property
We bought this property as it ticked so many of our boxes - location (within walking distance to a village with all necessary shops, doctors, dentist etc), in a rugby area, with sufficient land to grow a lot of our own fruit and vegetables. The property had formerly been a ferme auberge with a conservatory room which was added as a restaurant. When we first came we had ideas of running a vegetarian cafe/restaurant, or possibly a tea room but we simply use the room as a social space. We have put on Christmas meals for 40, have had some play readings, use the room for meetings and for private parties out of season.
What makes this property unique
Fillol gites is a new development - combining the traditional stone walls of former farm buildings with modern conveniences of en suite bathrooms. The WIFI here is very good - one of the most common complaints in this area is poor internet connectiivity but we have good wifi in all gites. There are 3 properties on the site - Lavande, the 1 bed gite, Tournesol - a 2 bed gite which adjoins and the farmhouse. We can be flexible over rooming requests
