Welcome to Dar Massaneh Essaouira.

Having welcomed over 1000 guests so far, we are delighted to provide details of our Riad for your information. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any specific questions or requests.

This large traditional house, built over 3 levels, consisting of 3 large bright double and triple bedrooms plus a single, in addition to several living areas ensuring maximum relaxation for our guests.

There are 2 bathrooms decorated in the traditional 'tadelekt' style.
There is a private split level large double terrace with panoramic views of the Medina and sea, ideal for sunbathing, yoga or general relaxation. The terrace contains a traditional outdoor oven, bar area and sink. There is also a dining area on the Terrace.

We do have a double sofa bed in our salon available for an extra guests if required.

All linens and towels are provided and the galley kitchen is very well equipped.

Guests will have full access to all areas including the fully equipped kitchen with its 5 burner gas cooker and large fridge freezer. We also have a washing machine available.

We have satellite TV.

We are located within The Mellah, the UNESCO protected old Jewish Quarter, close to Place Tarra. This is a trendy part of the Medina, filled with artisan shops, restaurants and cafes with wifi.

The magnificent local beach is an 8 minute walk through vivid and colourful historic streets. Many bars, camel rides and water sports can be found along the beach front.

The whole of the Medina is a pedestrianized zone, however we are located near one of the main gates where taxis are easy to obtain. There are a few long term car parks, which are safe and secure, available for hired cars.

We have excellent free WiFi access, and any meals are available on request.

Please note that the House Manager Youness lives nearby and will always be available should you need any assistance or advice.

Smoking is permitted in certain areas and we are pet friendly.

We can arrange any of the local activities for you if required including day trips, excursions, hikes and golf.

Our manager Youness can arrange any airport transfers or transport arrangements you may require.

Authentic riad in a great location

We spent a week in June in Dar Massaneh. Loved the rooftop with its views and comfy seating for sunbathing and relaxing in the fresh sea air. Loved the tasteful decor, the rugs, carpets and fabrics and the stylish bathrooms. Loved our delicious tagine and morrocan salads made by friendly Naima. The riad is in a convenient location near a little plaza with two attractive cafes. Right next to a very authentic hamman, the famous one that features in the Orson Wells film. Our holiday was very relaxing and comfortable, the beach is good for walking and watching the kite surfers, horse riders and camels. Fabulous sunshine and cool sea breeze makes the climate very attractive.

Hi I'm Martine and welcome to my page.
I'm originally from Glasgow, Scotland but now based between London and Morocco. I'm a mature student studying Fashion, undertaking research projects in Morocco itself, although my background is Music and Media. Previously I lived in The Gambia, West Africa for 17 years, and have traveled world-wide over the course of the years. And finally I find myself in Essaouira which is now home. I named our beautiful house after my son Massaneh (pictured above during a recent trip to the Sahara).

Why they chose this property

I had visited other cities in Morocco which were also lovely but Essaouira is is so laid back and calm yet offers magnificent beaches. It was also vital as a single woman that I felt safe which I can assure any women travelers they will feel in Essaouira. I As soon as I viewed this property I bought it. It has a regal presence, due to the restoration yet feels airy and cosy at the same time. The terraces are a suntrap and you can see the sea on both sides of the bay from the upper terrace. Since taking over in December 2015 I am carrying out some 'extra touches', to add to that luxurious feeling the house already possesses.

What makes this property unique

A large airy traditional house with charm and yet mod cons. Situated in a convenient and 'trendy' part of the ancient Medina, with restaurants, artisan shops and cafes close by, but the house and terraces are peaceful. The beach is under 10 minutes walk away through interesting and historic streets. We have a Manager and housekeeper at hand who will take care of your requirements including travel and excursions.
