A nice house in a lovely remote place in the mountains
If you are looking for a well equipped, nice mountain lodge in a remote place to enjoy nature, this is a great place. The house is located in the mountains in a spot where you can’t see another house - even though the neighbors are not too far away. You can start hiking right from the door and explore the nearby waterfall, or use it as a starting point to explore Pohorje region. You should be aware that you need to drive some distance on gravel roads but we didn’t have any issues with our car (a family van).
The house is well equipped and in good condition. A highlight was the very nice and caring local housekeeper Valentina as well as Tony (the owner) who also took care that we are enjoying the stay.

It was a pleasure having Martin and his family at Rogla Lodge and we are really pleased they enjoyed staying amidst the nature of the Pohorje. We can unhessitatingly recommend Martin and his family to other property owners.

Sophie and her family were the perfect guests and it's always nice when visitors appreciate our house and its peaceful private location. It is a truly wonderful place to relax away from the hustle and bustle of the modern world! Whilst our unpaved forest road (2km) is less than perfect - it is perfectly drivable with care and you will be rewarded when you arrive at our little haven after only a few minutes. A perfect little hideaway for couples, and families with younger children - we would be delighted to welcome Sophie back again in the future.

Perfect guests - welcome to stay anytime at Rogla Lodge.
We appreciate the forests roads are unpaved and we carry out periodic maintenance of the approach road to the house. However, the village community are responsible for the primary forests roads which are currently scheduled for routine maintenance.

Please read observations before you book
Views spectacular, chalet average. You need to be aware of the following;
1. Approach road to the property is one car wide, gravel and 4.1km long and takes 15-20mins. It has some dramatic unprotected drops and the last kilometre is particularly rough, would not be suitable for some drivers nor the sort of road you take a hire car onto where your responsible for any excess and tyres.
2.Arrived in a thunderstorm to the local town and the agent informed us that it was too dangerous to try and go into the mountains and access the property until the storm ended.
3. Arrived no power, water (as pumped) or toilet facilities for 18 hours. So the property is susceptible to power cuts.
4.For us it was advertised with two bathrooms. It actually has one small shower room and one separate toilet.
5.If you wish to use the advertised Hot Tub it is 100 Euros extra.
6. After eight days the hire car needed a car wash otherwise I think we might have lost our excess and it looked like I had been rallying from the road dust.
7.Any misrepresentation of the bathroom numbers, silence in the description of the access road, hot tub costs and lack of being able to use the chalet in a power cut were met with a negative response from the owner.

Thank you for your valued feedback about Rogla Lodge. Since purchasing the property we have spent considerable time and money on a wide range of improvements so our guests have an enjoyable experience in a spectacular and very private location. To date we’ve had guests from Spain, Hungary, Belgium, Croatia, Germany, Austria, England and Poland and everyone has been unanimous in praising the standard of the property. In the circumstances I refute your comment that the chalet is average.
Reference points 1-7 we wish to comments as follows:-
Item 1. The property is a 15-20 min drive from the town of Zrece and meet point with our housekeeper. There are 3 ways to get to the house after driving mostly on asphalt and the 2 shortest routes via the Vitanje road and Skomarje village include a final 2km on gravel road. The road is drivable with care in places and has a few passing spaces en route. In this instance our housekeeper took our guests via the easiest albeit longest route to the house involving the most distance travelling on gravel road. We have since revised this procedure and all guests will access the property via one of the 2 routes with a final 2km gravel section leading to the property. After leaving the asphalt road the final 2km takes 5-6mins to reach the house. These type of roads are common in the Pohorje region and locals invariably drive with courtesy when meeting other vehicles on the road. Most of our guests arrive in hire cars and we have not received any adverse feedback about additional rental charges after staying at the property. Rental companies are well aware of the rural nature of Slovenia and do not charge for washing away road dust. As owner of the property I regularly use a number of hire companies based at Ljubljana Airport and I have never been charged for cleaning a car.
Item 2. The house is located at altitude in the Pohorje region and can be subject to occasional thunderstorm especially during the hotter summer months. However, thunderstorms are common in mountainous regions throughout the world and guests generally appreciate it is part and parcel of the environment. It is unfortunate that the storm resulted in a power cut as we’ve experienced this phenomenon on a number of occasions without any interruption to the electrical supply to the property.
Items 3-7. Due to HomeAway reply constraints please go to tripadvisor and search holiday rentals in Zrece, Slovenia for our complete management response.
