About this property
Lovely Holiday Home with wonderful sea views in peaceful, sheltered location
Our spacious well equipped holiday home is in a peaceful sheltered setting with large enclosed garden and fantastic sea views over to Little Bernera and the Atlantic. There are 2 large double bedrooms, 1 twin bedroom and a double bed settee in the downstairs lounge if sleeping 8. The second sizeable lounge upstairs has a large corner sofa and patio windows which open onto a Juliet balcony taking full advantage of the views – a great place to chill with a large glass of wine.
The road by the house ends 200 yards further down on a rocky beach – there is no passing traffic, just the odd explorer, so very peaceful. Bosta Beach and the Iron Age House are only two miles away – a very pleasant walk – there are also many other stunning beaches within easy drive. Golden Eagles nest locally and are frequently seen – the area is perfect for nature lovers, ramblers and cyclists alike to explore. Water sports such as surfing and kayaking are also popular actives. Local boat trips are available to the islands or you can visit the nearby Callanish Standing Stones, the Black House village at Gearrannan or travel slightly further afield to the lighthouse at the Butt of Lewis with it's spectacular coastal scenery.
The nearby village of Breacleit has a petrol station and there is also a community centre with cafe, internet services and electric charging points for cars. The main town of Lewis is Stornoway which is a distance of 25 miles (40 minutes drive) and has two large supermarkets to choose from both of which do home deliveries.
Facilities
There are two bathrooms – the downstairs one includes an overhead shower but the ceiling height is a bit low (old part of the house!) so if you’re over 5’8” you might need to crouch a bit to use it! Our well equipped kitchen includes dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, full height fridge freezer and tumble drier (which is in the porch). There is a separate dining room off the open plan kitchen and lounge and a porch for leaving outside clothes, boots etc. As well as the oil-fired central heating there is a wood burning stove downstairs for cosy evenings in.
There are televisions in both lounges as well as the master bedroom so the kids can watch their favourite channels without interrupting yours! We’ve supplied a DVD/CD player along with a selection of videos and CDs as well as a docking station for use with your own mp3 player. Books and games in situ too. Mobile signal is a bit erratic but there is a working telephone box opposite the house just in case all else fails (which hasn’t happened yet!). Free ultrafast fibre WiFi is available in the cottage and Bernera has some of the fastest speeds in the country so no problem downloading anything now.
A cot, high chair and stair gate are available on request. We don’t allow smoking in the house.
