Alternatively if you are interested in colonial history why not visit Fortaleza Santa Teresa, a national historic museum which is halfway between Punta del Diablo and Chuy; built by the Portuguese before the Spanish took it over and still in a great state of repair. Or if you fancy a boat trip and walk through woods there is Monte de Ombues is on the way to Cabo Polonio, you can take a boat to visit the forest, the most extensive Ombues forest in the Plata region.

Try Panes & Peces in the summer season for live music, La 70 for great home made pasta and a decent house wine, Il Tano if you fancy something out of season.

About the host
Hosted by Matthew

A globe trotter for work and having the opportunity many years ago to work in the north of Uruguay i was struck by the openness and friendliness of the locals. After a couple of false starts finally settled on this property at the north end of the Golden Coast, largely unexplored but gradually being recognised as an unspoilt area by those travellers who want to get away from the touristic centres such as Punta del Este
Why they chose this property
We looked at several properties along the coast before settling here. The peacefulness of the area, the view, the wonderful setting and obviously the well constructed house design were factors. Sitting on the deck eating breakfast with a cool breeze, the sunshine and the Atlantic Ocean as your morning companions are irreplaceable
What makes this property unique
SUPER SUMMER / AUTUMN 2023
LIKE THE HOUSE, WHY NOT BUY IT AND LIVE A RELAXED BEACH LIFE IN A SECURE COUNTRY AWAY FROM EUROPEAN AND NORTH AMERICAN STRESSES!
Peace, tranquility and an air of overall relaxation are what the area brings. The house was actually constructed as a primary residence for a British music composer so has all the amenities and design you would expect of a permanent residence rather than purely a summer home. I have tried to maintain this and improve the property since buying it and want my guests to enjoy the area and the house as if it was their own.
