Wonderful stay in a wonderful city

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Elisabeth’s home in Blois. It had everything we needed and the location was great. What we loved the most was the courtyard, the large dining table, and the 2.5 bathrooms.

A fabulous property in a great location

We had a wonderful week at Elisabeth’s property which is very conveniently situated just a short walk from all that Blois has to offer including some very nice bars and restaurants. It also provided a good base for exploring the local chateaux. The house was very clean, nicely furnished, comfortable and well equipped - having everything we needed for our stay. We were lucky with the weather and made full use of the garden which was very private. We loved the scent from the masses of jasmine bushes around the garden. A very nice place to stay that we would highly recommend.

A Gem in The City.

Secluded but close to town

Stunning period property with a beautiful outside space. The house is very secluded with a completely private courtyard garden. Elisabeth was very helpful and has furnished her house beautifully. The space was larger than expected with plenty of room for our (adult) family.

Beautiful house in a great location

We came from San Diego and loved this house. It was only two of us and it fit just right . Spacious with lots of room for privacy. Elizabeth's decorating style was very much to our liking and we treated it with the great respect it deserved. If we return to Blois this would be the house to stay. Merci beaucoup Elizabeth

Beautiful spacious house with a gorgeous courtyard!

We loved the home! It was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. I will add that the hill going to and from the garage is quite steep. Some people with health issues may find this problematic. We okay with it.

Perfect Loire Valley cottage!

This cottage in Blois was a perfect place from which to explore the Loire Valley from. The cottage is decorated with French flair and a Beautiful garden patio to spend afternoon and evenings after a day of exploring. Full kitchen, with all amenities for cooking if you choose, but Blois has great restaurants. We truly enjoyed our stay and Elisabeth was the perfect host. Make sure you are okay with stairs. Both bedrooms are upstairs.

Tres chic

We loved this beautifully decorated home and the wonderful patio area. Each couple had there own wing of the house with a lovely bedroom and private bath. Elizabeth was great. She even went out of her way to help us with some banking. The city of Blois is centrally located in the Loire valley. It is an easy drive to the wonderful sights in the area. I wouldn't hesitate to book this gem again!

Charming French decor, spotlessly clean and very well appointed

Three friends visited the Loire for six nights. This property is very charming, and well-suited for two couples or two friends, as it has two bedrooms with ensuite baths at either end of a renovated home for privacy. Do take note that the stairs are steep! ( But this IS Europe!) There are delightful touches throughout. Elisabeth is charming and very accommodating. I recommend it without hesitation.

Charming house with lovely, peaceful garden

For complicated reasons we got off to a bad start by arriving early (apologies Elizabeth!) but had a lovely stay. The house is charming but has a slightly quirky layout with the two bedrooms at opposite ends of the house with separate staircases. This suited us but might not suit everyone. The beautiful garden was lovely and peaceful, with lounger chairs and a table so was great to relax and eat in at the end of the day.

The apartment is beautiful and Elizabeth was a wonderful host.

Blois is a beautiful town and staying here was a splendid way to experience the city. With the park a short walk away and restaurants and groceries not too far we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Twice we cooked at home and ate in the courtyard. Our son loved his room up on the third floor. Everywhere you look in this apartment there is something interesting and beautiful. We visited several Châteaus while in the area. Drank fabulous wines and strolled around a lot of the town. Elizabeth was very kind and met us there when we arrived to show us around and even gave us a ride to the store because it was closing very soon. We would stay there again in a heartbeat. I highly recommend this apartment.

The best way to experience life in Blois

We came from the U.S. and stayed for 12 days while visiting our daughter, who lives in Blois in centre ville, the center of the old town by the castle. It could not be more charming, and the same is true of this rental and its owner Elisabeth. Behind a stone wall and wooden door on one of old town's narrow stone streets, we found a beautifully renovated and furnished home with a large garden patio. It's in walking distance of everything in centre ville, and American guests be advised: you will be walking a lot, and up and down lots of steps. We had a rental car for exploring the Loire Valley that could be parked on our street when there was room. If not, the garage was down the street and around the corner. But town is made for walking, so a car is not an easy way to get around town.. Our daughter speaks French, which was very helpful as was Google translate. Despite some language barriers during the rental process, Elisabeth was always available and helpful, and we thank her for sharing her lovely home on VRBO.

Quaint and quiet house near city center

When we arrived in Blois, we were greeted by Elisabeth at the door to her home. She gave us a tour and showed us where everything was located. To note: You may not use anything in the huge white cabinet and are left to use only huge plates and bowls in the drawer. We made do, but it was unusual to have things in a listing you aren't allowed to use. The house is very cute, but hot. We kept the doors and windows open the entire time, except when we had the thunderstorms, upon which the house was very hot and humid, especially while sleeping. There is only one small fan that doesn't put out a lot of air. Suggest having Vornado or personal AC units in the house. You are not allowed to use the middle floor room and must travel up 2 flights to the attic. The other bedroom is up stairs on the other side of the house. Would not recommend for elderly or small children. The outside was beautiful enclosed patio, no views of the water. Short walk to city center with plenty of restaurants. The cathedral at the top of town is beautiful. Short drive to many castles. We toured Château de Chenonceau. Overall a wonderful time, and an excellent host!

An Exceptional experience

Blois is an attractive, perhaps under appreciated, town, centrally located in the Loire valley region, an easy train ride from Paris. It is large enough to have many of the ammenities visitors want, such as good restaurants, cafes and shops, yet small enough to walk everywhere and drive out of on day trips with ease. Some of the most notable chateaux, such as Chambord and Cheverny are barely half an hours drive away, and others are not too much further. Elisabeth Gyselinck's house, where we stayed, contributed significantly to the enjoyment of our visit. Discreetly hidden behind a door in an imposing stone wall on a quiet street, the interior is charming and practical. Made up of two separate buildings, neatly joined together by a sunny, pleasant alcove, the house is elegantly furnished, the bedrooms comfortable and the bathrooms well equipped. All of this looking out on a fine, cobbled courtyard and garden in which to enjoy the local wine and cheese in the late afternoon after touring the sites of the town and countryside. The available parking with the house is very convenient. Just a ten minute walk from the house is the old centre of Blois with an excellent fromagerie, wine shop, various boulangeries and your choice of restaurants, from modest to haut cuisine. For more comprehensive food shopping, there is a Carrefour less than a ten minute drive away. And do not miss the Chateau overlooking the town, an interesting melange of architectural styles and imbued with historical drama. Altogether, a memorable and enjoyable stay. John Stewart

Beautiful house in a great location

My partner and I from San Diego stayed here and loved the property. It was very tastefully decorated and had all the kitchen items needed to feel right at home. Unterkunft im Herzen des Loiretals

Eine luxuriöse und individuelle Wohnung mit wunderschönem Innenhofgarten zum Entspannen. Im Herzen der historisch bedeutungsvollen Stadt Blois liegt diese Wohnung mit besonderem Charme fussläufig zur Loire. Viele der berühmten Schlösser sind sehr gut mit dem Auto zu erreichen. Die Küche ist für Gäste, die gerne kochen, perfekt eingerichtet. Ein zur Wohnung zugehöriger Garagenstellplatz liegt in gut erreichbarer Nähe und ist in diesem Stadtteil ein nicht zu unterschätzender Vorteil. Gäste dieser Unterkunft sollten eine gewisse körperliche Fitness mitbringen, da diese am Hang der Altstadt liegt und auch die Schlafräume über schmale, steile Treppen zu erreichen sind. Wir haben hier einen wunderschönen und entspannten Urlaub verbracht und empfehlen die Unterkunft gerne weiter. Vielen Dank auch an die überaus liebenswürdige Gastgeberin!
