Why not open up the tall French doors to the garden area and make use of the table and chairs for a spot of something fizzy. Spence Cottage has two good sized bedrooms. One double and one twin bedroom with a family bathroom set between the two with bath and shower. The cottage comes with two car parking spaces so there is ample room for couples travelling together or a family.

My husband and I stayed for a long weekend at Spence Cottage with our dog and had a lovely time. The cottage is spacious, comfortable and has everything you need for a wonderful stay. Birdham Pool and Chichester Marina are a 30 minute walk down the road and the witterings only a short drive. We would definitely stay again!

Nice cottage to use as base for your exploring with friendly neighbours. Local supermarket is well stocked. We used local pubs, takeaways and café and all severed good food.

Couldn't fault this lovely house....
Beautiful character property, perfectly placed for countryside walks and seaside visits. Waitrose and a Co-op are really close by, and we found a few quality restaurants within easy driving distance. Parking adjacent for loading/unloading. Excellent all round. Will book again!

Nice cottage even during the winter months.
Great property, well furnished, clean, comfortable and in a good location for the area. Only problem was the mobile signal on both Vodaphone and Tesco Mobile was almost zero the entire stay, not that important as WiFi was good but worth knowing. Would definitely stay again.

Thank you for taking the time to write this lovely review. The phone signal can be intermittent there which is why there is good broadband. I am really glad you enjoyed your stay and we hope to see you again in the future.

Lovely Cottage
Beautifully decorated cottage in a great location to give you access to West Wittering, Bracklesham Bay, Itchenor and many other lovely places on the peninsula. We had such a great time staying here, thank you!
Well equipped kitchen and utility room. The customer service was excellent - would highly recommend staying here.

We are enjoying our stay at Spence Cottage very much.
We have enjoyed sitting out on the patio with a glass of wine, although found the traffic noisey.
The Cottage is beautiful very clean and well appointed, our agents Laura & Cleo were also very helpful. We would definitely stay here again if in this neck of the woods

Lovely cottage!
We had a very nice week staying at Spence Cottage. Very clean, everything you , lovely tiny garden. Only downside was the traffic noise, but that can‘t be avoided. Short drive to the beach, lovely walks in the area and only 20 minutes drive to Goodwood (we came for the Festival of Speed).

Thank for taking the time to review. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay. Unfortunately you were there one of the busiest weekends of the year :-) … but as you were staying for The Festival of Speed I hope you enjoyed it! Please do come back again if you are visiting Goodwood next year.
We had a great stay in Spence Cottage. The house was lovely, spotlessly clean and well appointed. Very handy to have a washer and dryer for a beach stay. We enjoyed using the patio as well. Location was very good, a quick drive to East or West Wittering and having the shop next door was a nice feature. The area is not that walkable, so you do need to drive most places. All in all, it was a great house and we would definitely stay again. Thank you!

Good value house in good location
Liked the location of the house, convenient for west Wittering beach and with great walking from base. Salterns way is good cycle way and close.
Layout of house is good, pleasant outdoor area also.
Negatives: didn’t like the beds, too soft and a little noisy.
Wouldn’t have booked a house without a dishwasher, sadly missed that point in advance.

A wonderful week
We had a lovely, relaxing week in Spence Cottage. It was spacious and very well equipped with everything you could need in the kitchen. The heating was easy to operate too! Being on a junction was not noisy, just unusual, and parking on site was so convenient. Spence Cottage gave us a great base for exploring the area and we loved the walks around Pagham Harbour to see the scenery and birds. Plenty of other places to visit on the peninsula and Chichester is only a short drive away. Arundel was easy to get to as well. A well-stocked village shop/Post Office 100 yards away and Little Waitrose in the Shell garage on the corner made for an easy life!

A very nice cottage, used as a base.
Spence Cottage is a lovely property. Warm, cosy and rustic. A lovely garden area. Very well laid out. A great location for a base, a local shop only a 100 yards away. Petrol station very close by too. Well thought out interior, plenty of room in the spacious bathrooms. Great to have a washer AND dryer too. A very comfortable little cottage.
The down sides, the cooker was not clean. We ate mostly takeaways and cold food anyway, so it didn't really affect us too much.
But, the one use it did get made me reluctant to use it again.
Parking, for the 15 days that we were there, it wasn't too much of a problem. For a couple of days, the space opposite also belonging to Spence cottage was unusable as the neighbours had parked so far over, we would have been hard pressed to have gotten a bicycle parked in there. Again, it didn't affect us as we only had one visitor and I'm sure that if we'd said anything to the neighbours, I'm sure it would have been rectified.

Thank you for taking the time to review Spence Cottage. Please accept our apologies that you didn't find the cottage as you would have hoped, we are always quick to respond to any issues and would have been happy to send housekeeping straight out to you and to have contacted the neighbours had we known about the parking, I think they perhaps didn't realise guests were in the property. We have now had this issue resolved with housekeeping.
We hope to see you back again in the future.

Nettes Haus, jedoch etwas Pflegebedürftig. Für längere Ferien für uns nicht geeignet
The open space on the main level made the kitchen, dining, and living spaces very functional. The fully enclosed terrace off the living room made the outdoor space very safe for our young grandchildren when they visited. The fully equipped house made our visit very comfortable.
We were asked to arrive an hour later for extra cleaning but found a very dirty microwave, a hair band hanging on bed knob, tooth glasses that needed a soak to rid them of dirt.
The bed was so uncomfortable with old and scratchy sheets. A shame as this really let it down. Guests should have a comfy bed with hotel grade white bed linen and towels for this level of rental.

Excellent position for Chichester Harbour
Excellent position for exploring Chichester Harbour. Lovely house, on busy road but noise didn’t bother us. Only negative points were; new double bed needed (pointed out over several years!) and only a shower over bath, though plenty of hot water.
More tourist information in folder would have been useful.

Lovely comfortable cottage
This is our second visit to Spence Cottage and, as we found on our first stay, we found it an ideal location for walks & exploring the area e.g Itchenor, Witterings, marina, Dell Quay. etc as well as Chichestor itself. Our stays have been ‘out of season’ but, knowing the area quite well, we are aware the main road does get very busy during the summer period and might get a bit noisy for some visitors. The cottage itself is very clean and comfortable with a pleasing mixture of contemporary & original features. Facilities are excellent providing everything you might need for a break.

Convenient for local attractions
Plus points:
- The property was smartly presented and spacious
- There is a shop just up the road and petrol station next door
- Attractive patio area
- Close to Chichester for shops. Beaches and marinas nearby, also lots of local eating places
Minus points:
- The kitchen floor hadn't been cleaned and the recycling hadn't been emptied
- It's right on a main road so quite noisy from traffic a lot of the time
- Shower had no pressure - better off using the bath
- The heating had not been on at all so took a day to get the place warm enough. It's normally timed to only come on in the morning and evening but that's not enough to heat the place in the winter.
I think 50/50 as to whether we'd stay there again. It's probably great in the summer when you want the beach or marina, can use the garden, and are not worried about the heating, but it's not a great place for a winter stay.
Very nice stay in Spence Cottage. A lovely place to stay

A lovely comfortable and spacious cottage
The cottage was very comfortable and contained everything we needed for a week’s stay with a small supermarket a few minutes walk away. The courtyard garden would seem to have been professionally landscaped and provided plenty of seating with a large table. The road outside can get busy sometimes at certain times of the day but we didn’t find any traffic noise a problem. Internally, the cottage has been designed & decorated to a high standard, providing a pleasing mix of the new with the old (e.g original wooden doors). It was light and felt quite spacious, and if anything, the photos didn’t do the cottage full justice.
We've had a lovely stay. It's a nice, friendly cottage.
De traffic around the cottage is very nearby and loud, so we didn't sat in the garden very much. De wifi was two days out, which my husband and I didn't mind but our teenage children did… When we arrived there's was one bed (the fifth) not available, but after contacting with the agency this was solved very quickly. The instructions were fine, but we received them when we booked (in january) and I didn't remember this instruction e-mail anymore, so when we arrived we forgot how to check in. Maybe it's wiser to give the instruction e-mail just a few days before the actual stay. But further on we can recommend this cottage for a nice summerweek-holiday for family with (teenage) children.
