Cozy renovated cabin in Williamstown, steps from hiking trails
Originally built in the early 1900s, this cabin has been owned and lovingly maintained by the same family for over 50 years. One bedroom features a queen bed, and the other has twin beds which can be converted into a king. Each bedroom has its own bath, one of which features the original claw footed tub. Soaring ceilings anchored by an enormous stone fireplace give the cabin a spacious feel, while a large screen TV and internet access bring modern amenities. A wide porch provides the perfect spot to sip coffee in the morning or cocktails at night, while enjoying a view of the mountains and pond. Hike the ridge behind the cabin and find yourself in protected state forests of the Mount Greylock reservation, with a host of hiking trails from which to choose. The town of Williamstown, with numerous restaurants, a world class museum and popular summer theater is a 10 minute drive (5 miles) away.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hopper cabin. We took full advantage of the access to the many hiking trails, relaxing in the quiet mountain side location and proximity to the Clark museum in Williamstown. Great place to relax in a real log (and lovely) cabin!
We loved our stay. The cabin was charming, cozy, and clean. The setting/location is gorgeous with easy access to town and hiking trails. The host was easy to communicate with, gracious and accommodating.
This cabin was great for our family of all ages. We hiked with our adult kids while my mom stayed back at the cabin baking and knitting. we loved cooking together in the well-equipped kitchen. The cabin is warm and feels like home. Brendan was communicative and responsive. Highly recommended!
My husband and I just returned from our second stay at this lovely rustic house- which should be review enough. We love being able to walk to hiking trails, and just relaxing in the peaceful surroundings. The house is well-equipped and is accurately described in the listing. The owners are good communicators, provide lots of useful information about the area, and are very accommodating. We hope to return.
We returned for a second year to relax in this cosy, comfortable cabin, be with family nearby and enjoy all that the area has to offer.
Brendan & Helen are attentive, thoughtful and helpful hosts.
This is our second time back to this delightful cabin the the woods that is a quick drive or bicycle into Williamstown. We are appreciative for the care and detail that is put into each aspect of the cabin. Great communication. Great setting. Great place. Thanks for having us back again!
The cabin was even more beautiful than the photos. Immersed in nature with the sound of rushing water. The cabin's history made us feel a part of something special. We enjoyed exploring the trails from the back of the property. Easy access to Mt Greylock. The kitchen had everything we needed, the beds were very comfortable. Brendan was easy to reach and checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. We enjoyed local restaurants such as Coyote Flaco and Mezze.
The description on VRBO is accurate and prepared us well for what to expect. This house is a gem, with many hiking trails right out the back door. It’s rustic but very comfortable and well-appointed. The owners have prepared a helpful guidebook to the house and the area, making it a great place to stay. They anticipated all the questions we might have. It’s ideal if you’re looking for a quiet, comfortable place with direct access to hiking but also close to town. We’d love to return.
I wanted something exclusive and isolated so that I could shut down and tune out.
What I found was a magical and historic cabin surrounded by lush green nature and flowing streams.
Once I discovered the swimming hole and the waterfall attached, my sense of adventure had piqued and it was on.
I swam, I hiked, I read, I meditated until my soul was full and I was ready to come home and get back to my grind.
I hope to come back with my daughters in the future.
Incredible.
On first seeing the cabin, I was a bit scared. It looks really old and I am used to being in modern houses. But it is beautiful in that old history kind of way. However, it is quite a usable cabin. The newer addition with the master and master bath is rustic but works fine in the modern sense.
The bed was comfortable, there were extra blankets in case it got cold, there were shampoo and conditioner and body wash. Besides the house itself nothing really felt old. Well, maybe the old style claw foot tub fitted with a shower head in the second bathroom. But that just added to the charm of the place.
We were provided with a history of the house and immediate area which is really great for those who get into that kind of stuff like we do. The area is quiet but still not far from the Water Street restaurants and a Stop and Shop.
Most importantly, the trails up Greylock are just up a steep embankment in the backyard and across a field. (Wear your bug spray.) It’s very convenient to make it to the summit and back and not have to get in a car to get to a trail.
Brendon gave us great information. We would definitely think about staying here again if we are making another trip to the Berkshires. This is a great rental for people who like historic charm but still like modern conveniences.
Property was exactly as listed. Perfect location within walking distance of wonderful trails. Gorgeous scenery and weather on this autumn weekend. The cabin was clean, comfortable and well stocked. The owner was excellent with communication. I enjoyed my extended-weekend-mom-getaway to the fullest in this lovely and unforgettable setting.
The perfect setting to relax. A porch made for rainy days. Easy access to hiking trails, museums, restaurants, and local attractions. The owner Brendan quickly responded to power outage and informing us of results. A wonderful spot of which we hope to return. Thank you for sharing
We really loved our stay here, and so will you if you're up for an old cabin with an uneven porch, a kitchen with an eclectic assortment of pots, glasses, etc., but holy cow oodles of charm! This is a place where time really does slow down. The nice gravel roads are great for runners, and hiking paths up to Greylock are just up the hill behind the cabin. We were slow to warm up to the place but really sorry to leave after a week. Also, the owners were great!
This peaceful, cozy family cabin in the woods gave us a restful, comfortable stay near our daughter’s family in Williamstown. It is at once tucked away at the base of Mount Greylock and yet within east reach of the Clark Art Institute, Williams College, and the heart of Williamstown. An unexpected plus was a remarkable book collection. The host couldn’t have been more prompt and accommodating.
We loved everything about this charming log cabin: The view of the mountains, with clouds drifting by and close up a pair of hummingbirds sipping from the nearby flowers; the cozy interior with a well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and the silence! We hadn't been that relaxed in a long time. We want to return for 2 weeks next summer. Thanks so much for sharing your family cabin, Janet & Jay
Lovely log cabin with lots of history! Beautiful rural surroundings but only a short drive to the amenities of Williamstown and southern Vermont. Owner very responsive to questions. Well equipped kitchen. Very clean.
Great place! House was fully stocked. In the woods, but just 10 minutes from williamstown with great restaurants. Brendan and norm were very helpful. Coming back next summer.
This is a very special property. As the pictures describe, its a log cabin that has been in the family for many years. We loved the location, the charm of the cabin, and opportunity to cycle or hike right from the cabin itself. The owner was responsive and helpful. We enjoyed our visit and hope to return. Highly recommended to visitors to the Berkshires as well as the local Art Museums and WIlliams College
All had a wonderful peaceful 1 month vacation. A beautiful cabin nestled in the scenic Berkshire Hills of Western Massachusetts .Historical and cultural. Home to Williams College.
The cabin was delightful. The location was beautiful and very convenient. Just a short drive to Williamstown. House was well equipped with everything that we needed.
