Set in the unspoiled and historic Vale of Glamorgan, Ty Gwyn is in the heart of the village of Wick, with its medieval church, village shop, post office, village green and its two traditional country public houses.

The property has been perfect for our stay, we literally used it as a base after long days out and about. Comfortable, clean and had all the amenities we needed. 4 generations making memories!
10/10 place and location.6 lads stayed here for a golf trip and loved the place! Charming, spacious and had everything you need! The photos honestly don’t do this place justice! Fun local pubs, lovely coastal walks.Huw was particularly very helpful with absolutely everything. Highly recommend!
The cottage met our needs perfectly. Having 3 toilets and 2 showers available also helped with having 5 adults staying together. The rooms are spacious making it very comfortable. The information package was invaluable and additional instructions for certain items helped a lot. Highly recommend!
We found the cottage very cozy but had plenty of room for two couples. The area is quiet and the people we met were very friendly snd helpful. It worked well as a home base for us as we did a day trip each day.
We had a great 3 days in Wick, walking the coast trail and exploring nearby towns. Our best meal by far was at the Farmers Arms in St Brides Major. Great Turkish food! The house was perfect and the outdoor table much appreciated.
We loved the comfortable house and its big kitchen and dining table. The courtyard was nice. The bedrooms were spacious and the facilities were all useful. We loved the quiet town and the walks by the sea. Great memories of a beautiful place!
The house was just right for our family reunion. It is large, clean, well equipped and convient to get to the center of Cardiff. We enjoyed our stay that was made all the easier for the excellent communication with the owner and the easy and simple check in. Diolch yn Fawr!
Fabulous property. Well presented, accurate listing. Very warm property!
Great location - so much to see within 30 minute drive.
Good clear communication with owners.
The cottage is superbly equipped and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in an excellent location to enjoy the coastline and local villages and towns. Huw responded quickly to any request we made and was very informative. A cottage we will return to.
The house was as good as the written description and better than the photos. Plenty of space - two lounges, big kitchen diner, more than decent bedrooms. Had all that we needed as a base. Thanks very much!
This house is cute and cozy. Lots of room for my family of 8. Best part was the washer and dryer. The other nice aspect was the patio parking space was large enough for our van. Definitely recommend!
My family had a wonderful time here. Plenty of room for us to spread out…and after a nine hour plane trip, we definitely needed it. Nestled in a quiet neighborhood but close to larger cities and beautiful beaches, this was a great jumping off point for our adventures.
Huw also thoughtfully gave us directions to beautiful walks and a spectacular walled garden…local gems that can’t be found in any guide books. I highly recommend this property for your next adventure in South Wales.

I’m so glad we were able to contribute to your UK adventure. Thank you especially for taking such great care of the property; it is much appreciated!
Overall it's great. There are a few tired bits of decor that detract a bit from the appearance and the cleaning before we arrived could have been a little better, but it's a great house for a group, with comfortable beds, a good-sized lounge and a nice outdoor area for sitting around when it's warm.

Thank you Carl for taking the time to write a review. We don’t normally have negative comments about the cleaning standard; in fact, quite the opposite, if you read the other reviews. I’m sorry that the cleaner left cleaning cloths in the en-suite bathroom. Thank you for your suggestion about putting plastic bin liners in all bins. On reflection, and ever aware of plastic pollution, we have decided to remain only putting liners in the kitchen bins. In terms of decor: agreed that a few ares are due a lick of paint. We have a programme of replacement and updating, which we manage whilst keeping charges down, ensuring good value for money. I’m glad the (unusually) good weather allowed you to enjoy the BBQ and outside space.
Very impressed with the house. Nice and clean and in a very nice location. Just one drawback with the house. The toilet in the en-suite didn't always flush properly which caused problems at night as we had to push the handle down 2 or 3 times which was noisy but we managed to get there in the end. Would be more than happy to stay at the house again and recommend friends/family to stay there.

Thank you David for taking the time to write a review. I’m sorry you had trouble flushing that loo. I think the syphon needs replacing in the cistern. I’ve contacted the plumber. Thank you for the alert.
Ha, It's a lovely welcoming house, with plenty of space and facilities in a perfect location for exploring the wonderful local beaches. It's has good transport links to drop into the local town and Cardiff.
Not the first time, and keep coming back. The property manager is rather excellent with regular communcation
Thankyou for letting us stay in an absolutely fantastic location. The beach at Ogmore is not far away, the great food at the local pub, the walks to the cliffs and the park for my three year old son to play in.
We will be back next year.
Thankyou
Very well presented cottage and nice and clean very good location and the recommendation of the lamb and flag very good .Everything about the cottage was spot on would recommend to any body and definitely go back in the near future .Value for money and the host always answered any question of queries the same day .
We loved this house with its nooks and crannies and its excellent accommodation. Seven of us from three generations fitted in wonderfully. The house is really well equipped with modern appliances and everything we needed for a perfect stay.
The village is wonderful - grandkids enjoyed the park, the village shop was great and our meal at the Lamb and Flag was stellar (catered for vegans and gluten intolerant diets).
Huw communicated brilliantly and is an excellent host.

What a wonderfull cottage and surrounding. Peaceful and quite. A good base to see lots of places in south Wales, two good pubs with amazing food and on the road to Bridgend an amazing Turkish restaurant with a host who knows hospitality with not only a capital H, but written in only Capitals. Huw is a easy going and easy to reach with any questions and he answers them on a short notice. The church next door breath history so as some of the headstones on the graves next to it. The cottage has everything you need and you will feel at home from home.
We will definitely book it again.

About the host
Hosted by Mr Huw Daniel
Huw grew up in a coal-mining valley north of Port Talbot but knew the Vale area well. So when the opportunity came to purchase a second home in the area, we jumped at the chance to spend more time in such a beautiful and unspoilt area of South Wales. We have three children and live and work in Greater London but going to Ty Gwyn as often as we can.
Why they chose this property
"Modern but with character, spacious, comfortable, lots of 'extras', prompt and helpful communication with caring owner" are some of the comments made recently by guests who have stayed at Ty Gwyn.
What makes this property unique
We are now able to welcome guests to the Vale again. Please rest assured that we will take every effort to make your stay safe, comfortable and relaxed. For your peace of mind, we are following the latest advice from HomeAway: 1. Bed linen and towels will be washed at 60 C instead of the usual 40 C. 2. Kitchen and bathrooms and all frequent-contact surfaces will be thoroughly cleaned with the recommended disinfectant. 3. We will ensure non-contact checking in and out of the cottage. 4. Guests will be permitted to use the washing machine and dryer to wash items mid stay, if desired, and washing detergent will be provided. 5. We will supply generous amounts of hand wash, kitchen and bathroom cleaning materials, anti-bacterial wipes and hand-sanitising gel. 6. Guests will be requested to remove and store foot ware in the entrance lobby. 7. Unfortunately, we will have to cease our practice of leaving tea, coffee and kitchen basics such as condiments for our guests.
As you will appreciate, we have had to add a modest surcharge, temporarily, to cover the cost of the additional procedures listed above.
