Climbing walls - the first one is just 10 minutes above the valley, the second one is above the house at the rocky top of the canyon. You can watch it with binoculars from the Joga Terrace.

Cycling - visit farms and villages at the Ljubljana marsh, lake Jezero, and ponds in Draga.

Fantastic Retreat!

Natasa and Sasa were gracious, generous, welcoming hosts. They went above and beyond to make us comfortable and share information about their beautiful country. Iska Retreat is such a special spot. Give yourself a few nights so you have time to settle in, relax and enjoy all the seating areas outside. We wished we had more time.

Blissful

The property is located in the beautiful Iški Vintgar and is surrounded by pristine nature. It allows you to ease your mind and disconnect. The house offers everything you need, is clean and tidy. The owners are very welcoming and do they best to make you feel comfortable.

Ferienhaus in wunderschöner Lage und sehr nette Gastgeber

Der Aufenthalt in der Iska-Schlucht war sehr abwechslungsreich, da die Umgebung sehr viel bietet. Die Hauptstadt ist nah, man kann sehr schön wandern und baden. Das Ferienhaus war sehr sauber und praktisch eingerichtet. Die Gastgeber waren in jeder Hinsicht zuvorkommend, sprechen ausgezeichnet Englisch und Deutsch. Sie halfen uns bei der Planung von Unternehmungen in der Umgebung und standen diskret mit Rat und Tat zur Seite. Vielen Dank für die schönen Tage und viele Grüße von Susanne und Martin

Perfect place to relax

We had a wonderful week at this beautiful place. Embedded in an amazing landscape, the house and the huge garden fullfilled every needs (also for young children). And the possibilities to relax and to experience adventures are just endless. Thank you for your kind hospitality!

Entspanntes Wandern und Baden

Wohnen direkt in der Natur mit eigener Sonnenterrasse und Hängematte, Wanderungen von schwer bis sehr entspannt möglich, Baden und Wasserwandern im Fluss (vor der Haustür) als Highlight der Unterkunft. Ansonsten sehr angenehme zuvorkommende Gastgeber (sprechen sehr gut Englisch). Viele Ausflugsmöglichkeiten in naher Umgebung-Lubljana, Höhlen... und vieles mehr. Sehr gut geeignet für Fam.mit Kindern zwischen 7-14 Jahren. Hat uns sehr gut gefallen.

Idylle abseits des Massentourismus

Wir haben zwei wunderschöne Wochen in diesem liebevoll gestalteten Häuschen im Wald verbracht. Und es sieht in echt wirklich so toll wie auf den Bildern aus. Wer Natur und Abgeschiedenheit mag, ist hier genau richtig. In der Umgebung ist von Tourismus selbst im August nichts zu spüren. Die Gastgeber helfen durch ihre freundliche und hilfsbereite Art sich wohlzufühlen.

Das Haus und der Garten sind toll und Nataša und Saša sind super Gastgeber! Wir haben die Zeit in ihrem wunderbaren Garten genossen, die Kinder haben gespielt, geschaukelt, Eidechsen und Kröten beobachtet und der Fluss und die Schlucht sind einfach toll! Ljubljana ist nah und wirklich einen Besuch wert und wir haben von dort auch weitere Ausflüge unternommen. Es war eine tolle Woche! Danke an Nataša und Saša!!

Rustige plek in een mooie kloof

Natasja en Sacha geven je het gevoel erg welkom te zijn. Wijn, koffie, zelfgemaakte specialiteiten, goede adviezen en tips, niets is teveel om je verblijf aangenaam te maken. Het huisje is klein maar comfortabel. Een prachtige tuin, de rivier dichtbij, terrassen rondom...maken dit dit tot een wonderbaarlijke plek. Voor ieder die van schoonheid houdt absoluut aan te bevelen.

Wohlfühlhäuschen in traumhafter Lage

Sehr schönes und liebevoll eingerichtetes Ferienhaus mitten im Wald in unmittelbarer Nähe zum Fluss. Wir wurden sehr freundlich von Natasha und Sasa empfangen, die uns während unseres ganzen Aufenthaltes das Gefühl gaben, liebe Gäste und keine fremden Touristen zu sein. Das Haus und der Außenbereich verfügen über viele liebevoll gepflegte Wohlfühloasen, wie die beiden schönen Terrassen, den Grillplatz und nicht zuletzt die mega-Schaukel im Garten. Die Betten sind gemütlich und nicht zuletzt Dank der selbstgefertigten Dinkelkissen sehr bequem, die Küchenzeile ist zwar klein, enthält aber alles, was das Herz begehrt (z.B. einen Milchaufschäumer und grundsätzliche Lebensmittel wie Zucker, Salz, Mehl, Öl und Gewürze). Alle wichtigen Ausflugsziele wie Ljubljana, die berühmten Höhlen von Postojna oder Bled können von hier aus innerhalb einer Stunde erreicht werden. Wir empfehlen diesen Ort wärmstens weiter an alle Individualisten, die einen besonderen Platz bei besonderen Menschen in absoluter Ruhe und naturnaher Lage suchen und bedanken uns herzlich bei Natasa und Sasa für die schöne Zeit!

Yes, thank you for the suggestion. The location is perfect for day trips in the surroundings or all over little Slovenia. The top 10 day trips are 1. canyoning at river Iška gorge, 2. hiking at mountain Krim 1107 m high, 3. paddling at Ljubljanica river to Ljubljana city center, 4. cycling at Ljubljana Marsh with swimming at Jezero lake, 5. riding horses in the woods and meadows, 6. exploring Nature park (with a cave) Škocjanske jame, 7. visiting cave Križna jama and Bloke - the home skiing, 8. visiting castle Bistra with aTechnical museum, 9. visiting Piran and the coast, 10. Ljubljana the green capital of Europe in 2016 . It is worth to stay at chalet Iskaretreat at least 2 weeks :)

We are Nataša and Sašo - a couple of landscape architects who have found sanctuary in the valley of the Iški Vintgar gorge, under the reign of Nature. We have lived in the forest for the last 28 years, exploring the world whenever the opportunity arose.
We are great cooks. Sašo prefers Ayurveda cuisine, whereas Nataša loves to bake bread and pastry using the organic spelt grown in her fields.
We love all animals and Oka and Una cats are a part of our family.

Why they chose this property

Since we have now managed to create a guesthouse in the second house on the large clearing, we invite you to explore nature around.
The garden can function as a place to socialize over food and games. It can also provide the space needed for meditation, seclusion, and rest.

What makes this property unique

The house gets regular visits from deer, and occasionally, even a fox, a marten, or a chamois come to see us. The bear that lives in the woods is kind and only shows himself to our neighbors.
The forest house with the garden is a part of a scattered ecological farm. We work on the fields, the meadow, and the orchard, which are a heritage of the Bela Krajina region, with pleasure and pride.
You may join us at harvest and cook with organic spelt. A special benefit is our organic vegetable garden at the clearing.
