Quiet location surrounded by lovely views towards the South Hams. The end of a row, this spacious well designed barn conversion overlooks the courtyard and rolling hills of the South Hams, offering well appointed self catering accommodation. Ideally located for the beach yet benefiting from all the features of a country cottage, this family orientated property cannot fail to please on all levels with heated indoor pool and quality recreational facilities, shared games room with free Wi-Fi, pool table, table tennis, table football and a collection of toys for younger guests. Shared outdoor play area with swings and climbing frame.. This is a well-equipped farmhouse-style kitchen and dining area with slate floor. Ample sitting room with wood burning stove. The first floor has a double bedroom with a 5ft double bed and a twin bedded room, both have flat screen free view TV and en-suite shower room/WC. Outside is a private patio area with comfortable garden furniture and barbecue for alfresco dining. The cottage also has a very handy rear access to the swimming pool complex. A well behaved dog is accepted in this cottage. Ideally located for Dartmoor, The English Riviera of Torbay and the magical golden beaches of South Devon's coastline are nearby, including Totnes, Paignton and its well known zoo, Brixham, Dartington,Teignmouth an attractive seaside town with promenade, sandy beach and pier, Dartmouth with its busy, picturesque harbour, castle, boutique shops and galleries, Torquay having a palm-lined promenade, seafront gardens, crazy golf and various other amusements, harbour, beaches and many pavement cafes, pubs, restaurants and nightlife. Family attractions include Crealy Adventure Park and Woodlands Adventure Park.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay the cottage was faultless, quiet and peaceful everything in cottage you could want,added bonus of swimming pool and games room, would definitely stay here again if we chose to stay in that part of Devon in the future, thank you for the use of your great cottage

Charming, quiet location

This was an immaculate cottage in a really tranquil setting. It was really lovely to get up and walk the dog in the early morning mist. The cottage was well equipped and really handy for Totnes and Dartington. The beds were really comfy too.

The gîte is exceptionally well organized, very clean and with good quality equipment. The swimming pool is a luxury after walking on Dartmoor or the coastal paths.. Any problems are quickly answered and dealt with.

Lovely comfortable holiday cottage

Lovely place to stay very clean, we had a lovely welcome pack when we arrived. Our dog was even thought of with a basket under the sink containing a bowl, biscuits, poop bags and a cable so you could fasten your dog up while you sit outside. The swimming pool and games room were fantastic, we swam every day until unfortunately they closed it for maintenance work which was very disappointing and I feel could have been done before the season started. Having said this the place is brilliant and the owners very helpful. We booked through home and away I wouldn't recommend them, we had no information from them at all we had to get in touch with the owners to get the pass code for the key which the agents should have given us before our holiday.

Excellent place to stay!

This is a lovely property in a super location! Even though there are several cottages in the complex, it is very quiet. The pool is an added bonus and the rota works very well. The cottage is very well equipped, with very new/modern appliances. It is very spacious, with plenty of storage space too. All in all a great place to stay and we will definitely recommend it to others!

Charming and quiet location and great facilities

The cottage was easy to find and access arrangements were perfect. We found the cottage and the facilities to be very clean and comfortable. Despite being fully booked the site was very quiet and the children enjoyed the use of the pool and games room, most of the time to themselves! Very dog friendly too and nice to see a selection of doggy toys, brush, food bowls and treats! Some excellent pubs and restaurants within a few minutes drive - but do book in advance ! Thank you for a lovely short break.

Hi, we hope you like Chaffinch Cottage as much as we do. The location is absolutely beautiful with long distance views over the South Hams. It has such a relaxing, friendly and safe atmosphere about it. Each one of the 9 cottages at the Newhouse Barton site is owned individually and we think it is this that gives it that homely, well cared for feeling. We all want our guests to enjoy their stay.

Why they chose this property

Chaffinch Cottage is a high quality, individual, self-catering cottage having an open plan kitchen/diner & lounge with log fire giving it a genuine home from home feel. Each bedroom has its own en-suite. It is fully equipped with TV's, DVD's, WiFi & I-pod dock.
An excellent child friendly site in the midst of the countryside with a large indoor heated swimming pool, games room with pool table, table tennis and table football plus play equipment for younger children, in addition there is a large outdoor children’s play area and communal barbeque. With beaches and moors nearby it is a perfect spot for everyone. The cottage is set in the lush green pastures of South Devon, midway between Totnes and Newton Abbot.

What makes this property unique

There are so many things for children to do in South Devon, Crealy & Woodlands Adventure Parks, Pennywell Farm, Buckfast Butterfly & Otter Sanctuary, Plymouth Aquarium & ski centre, Paignton Zoo, Kent's caverns to name but a few.
The nearby towns of Totnes, Torquay, Paignton, Brixham offer beaches, water sports, sea fronts, harbours, restaurants, nightlife, shops.
Other places well worth a visit include Dartmouth with its busy harbour, castle, upmarket shops and galleries, and Teignmouth, an attractive seaside town with a promenade, sandy beach and pier. The national trust owned summer home of Agatha Christie is just a few miles away as well as the D'oly Cart family home in Coleton Fishachre, both beautiful houses with lovely grounds.
