About this property

Castle in Erice valley, swimming pool, hot tub, Egadi view, garden, bbq, free park

Please note that since the villa is very large, the rooms will be used according to the number of guests who have booked. A family or a group of 4 people will have access to the entire first floor plus the relaxation areas on the ground floor, while the other 3 bedrooms on the ground floor will be excluded. This is to avoid unpleasant inconveniences such as invitations to people who are not registered with the police station. Single use of double rooms involves a 50% increase for single occupant, otherwise a room with a French bed or a room with a single bed are available

Amazing!!

We had a wonderful stay. The castle is beautiful with some of the most beautiful views anywhere I have stayed. Everything works well, the pool is lovely and the hosts attentive and well informed. A beautiful base for exploring Trapani and beyond!

Lovely villa with panoramic views

0This was our first trip to Sicily and this was the perfect location to access all of the local amenities. The house has everything you will need and Francesca and Giuseppe were great hosts. We also stayed a few nights in Erice at the hotel elimo, which we would highly recommend. We drove to Palermo and were disappointed with the trip, so I would not recommend that, but maybe our expectations were higher or it did not compare with review we had read.

Unique property

The property is very unusual and by far the largest we have stayed in. The photos don’t do it justice, the views in all directions are breathtaking. We hadn’t explained our family setup adequately (our 3 children are all over 18) but Giuseppe kindly came back to open up one of the locked bedrooms so make sure you explain how many rooms you need before you arrive. The swimming pool was great and we loved the hot tub which we had a technical issue with at first but Giuseppe resolved it. The garden is amazing with a lily pond, mature trees and cacti and we were mesmerised by the swallows. We made fresh lemonade using the windfalls under the tree as it seemed a shame to waste them! We mostly ate out but we had several lunches in the lovely area off the courtyard under the olive tree but otherwise we ate on the veranda or in the dining room depending where was coolest and most comfortable, there were plenty of options! We liked the table football but otherwise didn’t use the living area except for passing through on the way to the swimming pool and garden. The master bedroom had a mobile AC unit, otherwise fans were provided in the other bedrooms which were enough to keep us comfortable at night as it was very hot during our stay. Eating out: Loads of restaurants in Trapani, park at Piazza Vittorio Emanuele (38.01985, 12.51738), 0.5 Euros per hour (coins). We also recommend Mario’s Pizzas in Erice.

Einzigartiges Ferienhaus

Stunning house with pool & views

The house was beautiful! Even better than pictured. Francesca & Giuseppe are so welcoming and helpful. Francesca gave us suggestions and tips for things to do. They provided towels for swimming, which was very nice. The kitchen is stocked with everything you would need to cook meals.

A delightful stay in Erice

We highly recommend this property, which is very convenient to the surrounding area, including Erice, Trapani and and the Egaldi Islands. The hosts Francesca and her husband Giuseppe are very friendly and helpful. The beauty of the house and the surrounding area have to be seen to be believed, including the amazing panoramic view from the terrace, where we spent much of our time while staying there, when not in the much-enjoyed pool. We would definitely stay there again!

Beautiful holidays

Our stay in the castello was amazing. The house is spacious, fully equipped and has a special atmosphere. Beautiful garden with lemon and tangerine tress is a great place to spend time. Inside all the rooms are very comfortable, in the kitchen there is everything you need. And eating meals on the big terrace under the Sicilian sun with a breath of wind was a pleasure. The view from the house is great – the city and the see on one side and a mountain with the lights of Erice on it’s top on the other side. There are sheep nearby, so sometimes we heard their rings, birds were singing around – it is an idyllic place. On arrival we met with the owner on the street nearby and we followed him to the castello – otherwise it is rather difficult to find the address, however, when one knows where to look at, the house can be seen from a distance – it has a characteristic architecture and colorful shutters. Later the owners were easy to contact on the phone, so we were sure that they will help us in case of a problem – luckily, we had no problems during our stay. I surely do recommend this place – it was a great stay in an unusual house. A home away from home. Thank you,Francesca and Giuseppe! Andrzej,Poland,May 2022

Family Gathering

I completely fell in love with the property and it instantly felt like home. It was super important to me to find the right place as we were coming together as a family from 3 different countries after 19 long months of not seeing each other because of Covid and the Castello provided us with the perfect home away from home. We loved and enjoyed our stay - thank you Francesca & Giuseppe❣️ Here are our observations if you would like some additional details otherwise go ahead and place your reservation! Host: Francesca & Giuseppe are very responsive and helpful. Location: Car needed but very central. Last stretch of access street is not paved - not a problem just FYI. Received directions made it very easy to find. Kitchen/Cooking: We cooked 2 meals each day for 6 ppl. and did so very comfortably. Very well equipped and plenty of space for prepping & storage. Maybe some sharper knives and additional cutting boards would be nice. Italian moka pot to make coffee - super easy. Outdoor grill was a great addition. Convection oven and dishwasher are a plus for larger groups! Make sure to have garbage situation explained to you as there are various containers and pickup dates for all the different types of trash. Dining areas: There is a dining room adjoining to the kitchen - perfect for lunch when it’s too hot on the terrace. Right after the dining room is the terrace which we used every night for dinner and in the mornings for coffee. Spacious , beautiful views and no mosquitos or bugs! Grill and a pretty garden dining area under the trees are located on the ground floor. Host provided us with lights for that area. Bedrooms: All very inviting and comfortable. Maybe some extra hangers in each room please. The bed in the “romantic room” was squeaky. We were there in August and were never too hot as we left windows open. The barking of the neighbors dogs was annoying and we sometimes had to close the windows because of it. Bathrooms: One of our shower doors was broken from the previous guest and a temporary shower curtain was put up. It all worked out but people be respectful of your host’s property! Plenty of towels. The hot water went off one day but Giuseppe showed up quickly showing my husband how to reset it. Pool/Garden: not to be missed! Central staircase: We had some water come in from a morning storm. Inquire how to close those windows. Shopping: Conad and Eurospin are convenient but we loved the shops in Valderice better.

Senz’altro consigliata!!!

Perfect for families

We really enjoyed our stay here and enjoyed the evenings on the beautiful terrace with a small breeze. The bedrooms were warm as the outside temperature was above 30 degrees, so air condition would have been nice. But all in all it was a beautiful house and perfect for our holiday for 2 families with kids 8-12. We would recommend this house for exploring Trapani and all of the eastern Sicily!

Beautiful place in a beautiful setting

This was one of the best vacation rentals we have stayed in. As impressive as the pictures are, they do not do the place justice. Incredible views await on all sides. It goes on forever and absolutely has the charm of an old Sicilian Villa on a huge property. When we stayed in, we dined in a different indoor or outdoor space each night. With the heat, we spent much of our time in the pool sipping freshly squeezed lemonade with lemons from the trees in the yard. A highlight was listening to and seeing the herd of goats go by in the late afternoons. Right in between Erice and Trapani, it is located close to so much beauty. Guiseppe and Francesca are wonderful hosts. We can't wait to return.

Wonderful house for 2/3 families.

What a fantastic property. Different, in a special way, from other villa rentals. Francesca and Guiseppe, kind and considerate hosts, have restored the castello with love and care. It is very spacious, with a well equipped kitchen. The outside spaces are varied for sun or shade and the above ground pool is great for a cooling dip. We visited Erice, Mozia, a Marsala winery, Segesta, San Vito Lo Capo, Monreale and Trapani (great for fish straight from the boat). Guiseppe is very knowledgeable about the local area. Fresh lemons, oranges and plums from the gardens was a super treat. Don’t expect an Ikea kitted our house, everything has been placed to be in keeping with the age of the house, and this adds to the delightful ambience. The owners communicate well by text and are very responsive to queries, I couldn’t find the toaster and one appeared the next day. Thank you so much for sharing your house. Good luck to you both for the future.

Impressive house, beautifully furnished

We enjoyed this spacious house with big airy rooms, the balcony where we could have dinner in the evening, and the garden. The front rooms were overlooking Trapani and the sea in the distance with Erice high above and the mountains behind. It was a good location for exploring the area and we found a couple of very good restaurants with Francesca's help. The agriturisimo she recommended was fantastic.Francesca and her husband were very welcoming and friendly. There were a few problems with the house, the plumbing and hot water in the first few days but they did their best to put it right.Overall a good experience.

Great place for large or multiple families

Great and very spacious house! Has everything you need, kitchen is well equiped and there are multiple places for eating, inside and outside, specially the BBQ/dining setting in the garden is very nice for long nights. Place is quiet but not to remote, by car you're in the city center in a few minutes. shops are close so all in all a cery comfy place to stay.

A faulous stay!!

We could not believe our luck when we arrived at the castle. Untill that time we thought there would be a catch as it all looked to good to be true!! The house has been beautifull restored to its former glory with huge rooms and heaps of antique furniature. Because it is on a hill you have amazing views and a lovely breeze. The gardens are more than large enough to get a sense of privacy and freedom, making you feel very relaxed very soon after your arrival. There is a pool, a BBQ and eating area and the huge amount of fruit and olive trees. Our kids had to be bribed with ice cream to go on trips with us as they loved being at the home so much. The owners are the loveliest people, very hard working and very keen to help you settle in your stay. They are also very well educated and have a huge knowledge on history and culture of the area which we really enjoyed. The only thing we missed was a playful Italian Mastive to fill up the courtyard and our friends. So bring the latter if you can.
