Very comfortable house with a great location. We did not cook much, but it looked like it was well-stocked in terms of cooking utensils, bowls, etc. Furnishings were casual and comfortable. I especially appreciated that there wasn't a multi-page list of instructions for staying and for checking out.
The house was perfect for our needs! The spacious loft was great for four teen boys, the beach was a very short walk just down the road, and the back deck and hammock were great for relaxing in the afternoons. Communication with host Megan was easy. Would recommend!
The cottage was beautiful and as described. We didn’t use the upstairs at all but it’s so cute and spacious. The island is very charming. Will definitely go back.
Wonderful experience staying at the property with rapid response to any concerns we had (minor) & fabulous time! Quiet at night to sleep and close walk to Sandy beach and quick zip to Hannigan’s grocery or dock to meet guests if needed!-Love love loved this place! -P.s.-Meghan & Chuck are wonderful people to interact with & so thankful for them both!!!❤️👍😊🎉
Recently stay at this cottage for the wedding of one of my oldest friend’s children. The family has lived on Peaks for 20 years, so I am very familiar with the island. This cottage was ideally situated and outfitted to serve as our base for the weekend. Comfortable and clean and close to everything. Owners were friendly and great to work with. Highly recommend the cottage.
We had a lovely time. Our stay was better than expected- quiet, peaceful, spacious and moments from everything. We will definitely come back. Thank you for sharing your home.
We loved staying at this adorable cottage perched on a hill and just a couple of minutes walk to the water. Well appointed and clean with helpful touches like laundry detergent and extra toilet paper made it convenient as well as cute. We appreciated the quick and pleasant communication from the hosts as well as a the fact that we were able to bring our dog. Honestly one of the best VRBO stays we have ever had.
The cottage is in a great location … quiet yet within walking distance of restaurants and ferry pier. Kitchen had all the necessary tools for meals. Downstairs bedrooms were tight but adequate. We didn’t use the spacious loft. We had great communication with owner. Would stay again if in the Portland area.
Amazing week! This piece of paradise has everything you could possibly need or want! It’s all in the little things, and this home is filled with so many wonderful little things❤️ Peaks island is a special place, but having a sanctuary to call home for a week makes it even better. Beach fires, pier jumping, lobsters, crashing ocean waves, and scrabble on the deck....need I say more!

Thank you. You all were wonderful guests and the cottage was left in perfect shape. I am so glad you enjoyed your week in our favorite bit of paradise.
Excellent Peaks house. Could use some updated kitchen ware and it was end of season so could have been cleaner, but no big deal it worked great for our needs. Provided nice space for guests to visit over a wedding weekend. Nice and private up on the knoll even tho many neighbors. Wi-Fi went out for two days when it rained which was a bummer, that whole side of island was out. Loved the deck, used a lot. Overall a very nice unit for time on the island!

Thanks for the kind comments, Luke. I am glad you liked your stay. That storm that put out the wifi was the biggest the island has seen in years. However, it is true that sometimes island life is not like mainland life--repairs can take a bit longer.
If you would not mind DMing me about what you found less than clean, that would be great. We pride ourselves on cleanliness and usually get great comments about how clean the house is. If we missed something, we really want to know so we can fix. Thanks.
We had a wonderful week on Peaks despite the rain and the fog. The cottage is nestled on a quiet street surrounded by friendly neighbors. Although we don't have young children, the loft would be a wonderful room for them to play in on rainy days. The kitchen/living room combination with large windows offered a beautiful view and a cool breeze off the water. The kitchen had everything we needed except a lobster pot. (This we borrowed from a kind neighbor!) During our stay, we took a short walk down the road to observe the workers trying to load a beached, dead whale onto a truck. This was big excitement on the Island!
Thank you to Meghan and her family for sharing their beautiful home with us! What a treat!

About the host
Hosted by Meghan Casey
We are former Peaks Islanders, having lived here year round in the 1990s. We built this house in 2007, after being lucky enough to find a lot for sale in our price range. Chuck is a builder, and the cottage is typical of one of the houses Chuck builds---energy efficient and passive solar, with big, south-facing windows, lots of natural light, and open spaces.
Why they chose this property
This is a great location for families because the shore is a one-minute walk away. The island is a safe, adventurous place for children to ride. Our cottage is also perfect for a romantic get away, as our area of the island is quieter, removed from the hustle and bustle of down front.
What makes this property unique
The loft upstairs is great for children, in that five or six can sleep there comfortably. It also has a queen sized bed, so it is a nice third bedroom if three couples are traveling.
