Cozy Cabin Overlooking Beautiful Lake Cuyamaca
Come enjoy some of San Diego's forgotten beauty in this gorgeous, Piute Trail mountain cabin overlooking Lake Cuyamaca and just minutes from the quaint little town of Julian. During your stay, you'll have a chance to see wild deer grazing in the nearby pastures below, wild turkey foraging up and down the hillside (sometimes they even visit the deck!), raccoon's getting into their usual mischief, bald eagles soaring above or swooping in for a quick meal, owls, orioles, blue-jays, migratory ducks & geese, woodpeckers... and the list goes on! If you're into bird watching and/or photography, this is a great place for both! Using the cabin as a base camp, you'll be able to explore Cuyamaca Rancho State Park and Cleveland National Forest ,Anza-Borrego State Park with their many trails and viewpoints; fish for Florida bass, smallmouth bass, trout, crappie, bluegill, channel catfish, and even white sturgeon (Yes, our lake has sturgeon!); picnic on Fletcher Island; go boating; or just take in the peaceful surroundings and vast views from the comfort of the cozy cabin! Open year-round, including the snowy winter months when you can take advantage of the local sledding and snowboarding terrain. Available by reservation only, so plan early! Great Cabin with great amenities. Home away from home. Great location with a beautiful view of the lake, mountains, and landscape. Loved the front porch to sit and relax. The wild Turkey and deer grazed and crossed in front the cabin each morning. Looking forward for a return visit.

Very nice escape. Quiet. Nice views. Area sight seeing adventure was beautiful. Julian Pie co. stop is a must along with The Pub over seeing the lake. Would for sure stay here again

Weekend getaway

The Piute Trail Lodge was prefect for our weekend getaway with our 15 and 17 year olds and our two dogs. The location was perfect and within a quick drive or walk to the lake. We enjoyed sitting on the deck with our dogs watching the wild turkey in the mornings.

Lovely Country Cabin

The cabin is cozy with a great view of the lake. In the early morning you can see wild turkey and deer. Easy walk to the lake and the trails nearby. A great cabin that is ideal for a family weekend.

My elderly parents and I were elated throughout our stay in this lovely cabin with vintage flair. It is within walking distance to Cuyamaca Lake and within a short drive to Julian. The cabin is very clean, and it has all the kitchen essentials, laundromat combo, TV, WiFi, etc. We have stayed here before, and we were glad to come back for the peace and tranquility we enjoy in these paradise-like surroundings. Fine for what we needed, but could have been cleaner. Deck needs work, and one of the beds was exceptionally hard. No soap in shower - thought that was odd. But we had a super relaxing time and appreciated the great location. Would stay again, now that we know what to expect.

Beautiful and Quaint

We loved the location for its view and access to the lake but also really appreciated the spaciousness of the room sizes and that it had extra cots in case anyone needed their own bed. Would 100 percent like to stay again!

Family getaway at the lake

This is our second stay here at the Piute Trail lodge, and it never disappoints us. The cabin is clean and cozy. The wrap around deck offer beautiful views of lake Cuyamaca, there many opportunities for fishing and great places to hike. We also love that our dogs are always welcome here too.

Spring weekend

We are a repeat customer, although we've never stayed when the weather is warmer. I am happy to report that the AC works great. Also happy to report that we didn't need it because there is such a great breeze up here. Another fantastic stay at the lake!

Cozy Cabin Stay

This was our 2nd stay at this property. The only issue encountered is the fireplace was not cleaned on both our stays, so upon entering the cabin it had a heavy ash smell. We would’ve enjoyed a nice nighttime fire as the nights were cold. Other than that, it’s a nice, comfortable cabin.
