Cozy Cabin Overlooking Beautiful Lake Cuyamaca
Come enjoy some of San Diego's forgotten beauty in this gorgeous, Piute Trail mountain cabin overlooking Lake Cuyamaca and just minutes from the quaint little town of Julian. During your stay, you'll have a chance to see wild deer grazing in the nearby pastures below, wild turkey foraging up and down the hillside (sometimes they even visit the deck!), raccoon's getting into their usual mischief, bald eagles soaring above or swooping in for a quick meal, owls, orioles, blue-jays, migratory ducks & geese, woodpeckers... and the list goes on! If you're into bird watching and/or photography, this is a great place for both! Using the cabin as a base camp, you'll be able to explore Cuyamaca Rancho State Park and Cleveland National Forest ,Anza-Borrego State Park with their many trails and viewpoints; fish for Florida bass, smallmouth bass, trout, crappie, bluegill, channel catfish, and even white sturgeon (Yes, our lake has sturgeon!); picnic on Fletcher Island; go boating; or just take in the peaceful surroundings and vast views from the comfort of the cozy cabin! Open year-round, including the snowy winter months when you can take advantage of the local sledding and snowboarding terrain. Available by reservation only, so plan early! Beautiful and Quaint

We loved the location for its view and access to the lake but also really appreciated the spaciousness of the room sizes and that it had extra cots in case anyone needed their own bed. Would 100 percent like to stay again!

Cozy Cabin Stay

This was our 2nd stay at this property. The only issue encountered is the fireplace was not cleaned on both our stays, so upon entering the cabin it had a heavy ash smell. We would’ve enjoyed a nice nighttime fire as the nights were cold. Other than that, it’s a nice, comfortable cabin.

Family getaway at the lake

This is our second stay here at the Piute Trail lodge, and it never disappoints us. The cabin is clean and cozy. The wrap around deck offer beautiful views of lake Cuyamaca, there many opportunities for fishing and great places to hike. We also love that our dogs are always welcome here too.

Our favorite getaway

We go to this spot a few times a year to get away, and it’s our favorite. It’s great for proximity to Lake Cuyamaca and we typically see wildlife right out the living room window.The wrap around deck adds extra space & is nice to sit and drink your coffee or have a meal outside.We eat most of our meals in, so having a well stocked kitchen is important. There’s plenty of cookware, and I’ve never had a problem finding what I need to cook a meal.Overall, the space is perfect for our family of 4. We’ve made good memories here!

Weekend in the mountains

This is my second time staying at this property and I can't wait to book it again. It's so quiet and peaceful and really convenient for hiking in both Laguna and Julian. The view is just beautiful. It feels like my home away from home.

Great lake view

The house was clean and had all the basics. Decor was pretty outdated and nothing more than the basics provided, but it was comfortable and the view of the lake was amazing. We failed to check the weather before arriving so we were surprised to have rain, hail and snow this late in March, but it was fun for the kids. We just didnt get to do as much fishing as we'd hoped. Make sure to bring your own coffee, toiletries, ziploc bags, chip clips, etc. Many rentals weve stayed at recently have provided these extras, so its hard to know what to expect.

Cabin is cozy. Kitchen has everything needed. Nice fireplace with wood provided. View of the lake is beautiful. Bbq, wrap around deck, beautiful trees. Comfy beds… hard to leave.

Fall break

The cabin has a great view of the lake. We saw a bald eagle and great blue heron. It was really relaxing to sit on the deck and look at the lake (or a book or phone).
