Venus Bay is a quiet seaside village an easy 2 hour (150kms) drive from Melbourne through the beautiful Gippsland countryside. It is also half way between Philip Island (45 minutes away) and Wilson's Promontory (45 minutes away) two of Victoria's most popular tourist attractions.
The village is famous for its surf beach which stretches for about 30 kms from Cape Liptrap to Point Smythe. The area is popular for surfing, fishing, walking and cycling and is full of wildlife including kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, echidnas, microbats and a plethora of birdlife.
The Venus Bay shops are a 5 minute drive away and include a general store/mini supermarket, a pizza shop, fish n chips, ice cream shop, gift shop, cafes and restaurant/bar that has live music most Friday evenings. Tarwin Lower has a well equipped IGA Supermarket, hotel and licensed cafe and is a 5 minute drive.
The closest main town is Inverloch a 20 minute drive away. This has larger supermarket and many shops, numerous markets and restaurants.
The house is a 10-15 minute walk to the beach and a 5-10 minutes walk to the inlet flats where the kangaroos graze every day and frequent in the evenings. We have a wombat that lives here and many beautiful birds: parrots, cockatoos, galahs, wrens and the butcher birds and magpies are happy to be hand fed (they love mince meat). On a clear night, once the sun sets, the star show comes out as you relax on the deck whilst listening to the gentle sounds of the surf in the background.
Venus Bay is the place to go for a beautiful natural environment and peace and quiet and to enjoy Australia's beautiful wildlife up close. Beautiful ocean beaches, numerous National Parks, Inlets, fishing, scenic drives, fabulous local restaurants, cook up a storm in the well equipped kitchen or just relax!
Come and see for yourself why Venus Bay is one of Victoria's best kept secrets!

Why they chose this property
We love to come to Venus Bay whenever we can to enjoy the peace, serenity and the natural wonders of the area. We love summers on the beach but probably prefer the cooler months relaxing by the wood heater and cool morning walks on the Point Smythe Nature Trail.
What makes this property unique
The Pickled Pipi is a spacious house with a central open plan living area that has a warm inviting feel with it's wood paneling throughout the house and wood heater for the cooler months. There is a large dining table that seats 10. Surrounding the house are native tea trees shielding the property from the neighbours and proving a natural environment for our feathered friends. The outdoor decking area is expansive and wonderful for Summer entertaining and star gazing at night!
