About this property
Wallum cottages - best of the bush and the beach!
Hidden in 60 acres of natural coastal bushland with just a short 200 metre walk across the dunes to a beautiful ocean beach. 11 km south of Crescent Head; Wallum cottages are located half way between Delicate Nobby and Big Hill only a short distance from Limeburners Creek National Park. The miles of quiet, idyllic beaches are perfect for swimming, surfing, or fishing.
Each unique cottage offers first class, self contained accommodation designed and decorated to blend in with the natural bush environment. Kookaburra cottage has plenty of space for up to 10 people inside and out - with a wonderful deck area to enjoy the tranquil bush setting. Relax in your hammock on the deck, or with a glass of wine around your own camp fire at night.
Kookaburra is fully self contained and has a fully equipped kitchen, living area with TV & DVD player, laundry, 2 large queen bedrooms and a bunkroom with 3 bunk beds (sleeps 6). You can use the gas BBQ on the deck for cooking, or perhaps cook over the camp fire outside. (The photos include a floor plan of the cottage.)
Walking tracks have been created through the 20 hectare block at Wallum to allow you to explore. For kids there's the play area with flying fox, pool table and table tennis table; bring their bikes (there are plenty of tracks) and, of course, there's always the beach just a short stroll away.
Our aim at Wallum is to provide a peaceful, quiet relaxing holiday. If you're thinking of a party, then please don't consider Wallum.

About the host
Hosted by Jane Jones

We've spent most of our working lives in Sydney but Fred surfed this area as a teenager! When the chance came up to buy into the area we took it.
We love the bush - the native flora and fauna - and have put a lot of time into regeneration. We love the beaches - so long and wide, the water usually crystal clear!
When we go on holidays we usually avoid the cities and head to the more remote or undeveloped areas - outback Australia, Pacific Islands like Samoa, last year Alaska.

Why they chose this property
We bought this property because of its location. The undeveloped area and the beautiful beaches! The potential we saw in the block of land itself.
When we purchased the block of land in 1992 it was still being farmed and was mostly just scrub. There were a lot of weeds - mostly bitou bush which was there as a result of the 'regeneration' program implemented after rutile mining back in the 70's.
Twenty plus years later, thousands of trees and many hundreds of hours removing weeds and we are really happy with the progress - we can now even boast koalas at times!
We wanted something as low key as possible - somewhere for people to have privacy, nature and the chance to enjoy the area as much as we do in comfort!
We think we've achieved this! We hope you do too ....
