1st Annual Girl's weekend

There was a group of moms and daughters/daughter-in-laws who just had an amazing weekend - our first annual. Everything was as listed. House was in perfect condition and had every amenity you could possibly need. The owners have this rental very thought out and we loved it. Loved sitting on the back porch at night and front porch for coffee in am. Great distance from the beach and downtown. Thanks for a great place for us to stay!

Perfect Setting

We could not have asked for a better place to spend our time in South Haven. The house is gorgeous with everything one could ask for, even a bunch of bikes in all sizes. Just a beautiful stroll to the beach & park or watch the sunset from the upper deck. It is a nice walk to everything in town, just far enough that you won’t feel bad about enjoying the great food at Maria’s Taste of Italy. It is perfect for a large family, a couple of families, or several friends to get away to. We can’t wait to return next year.

Cool house, great location, issues with cleaning

Cool, funky Victorian house. Lots of room, 3 bathrooms (including one with a clawfoot tub), great front porch, 4-5 block walk to beach. Family loved it. However, I was pretty grossed out by all the food left in the refrigerator, freezer and cabinets--some half eaten, some that had been there so long it had passed the expiration date by years. Threw away at least SIX full garbage bags of yuck. Small issue with the dishwasher. The owner was easy to work with, responded quickly, and resolved the issue by the next morning.

Wonderful Experience

We were here for a girl’s weekend and the home surpassed our expectations. It was much more spacious than the listing photos. The kitchen had plenty of small appliances and gadgets that made cooking so easy. Yard was great for a bonfire in the evenings. Walking to the Van Buren Overlook beach entrance room less than 10 minutes and very convenient. Would definitely recommend this property and the owners; they made it so easy!

OK but not great

I don't like not getting more information until only a month prior to check in, not even the address. My brother wanted to book a golf tee time and wanted to find a course close to house. The house is nice but I've sent an email to owner about issues he needs to address. Also cleaning people need to do a better job. I moved toaster out and counter under was full of crumbs. No kleenes left in upstairs bathrooms and one trash can up there had stuff in it. Instructions said trash would go out to street on Sunday but it didn't, my brother put it out on Monday morning. No pillow cases in parlor with Murphy bed. As alway when we are together for siblings weekend had a good time anyway!

Family Reunion Hit

The property was perfect for us, 2 grandparents, 5 parents, and 6 grand children. We were able to sleep comfortably in the 5 bedrooms. The kitchen was large and the dining room was sufficient for everyone. A nice touch was the porch on both floors and plenty of tables and chairs to set up outside in the backyard. We accessed the beach both by walking and riding a car. There is a nice park with a large wooden play area just down the street and we went there every day.

Perfect Family Retreat

The property was spotless with more amenities than we have found anywhere else that we have stayed. Beautiful location near the beach and a comfortable stroll to downtown. We often struggle to find a place that will allow us to bring our dogs, but for a reasonable "pet fee" we were able to enjoy the week at a much lower cost than boarding her runs, plus the backyard is fenced so our dog could enjoy the outdoors (as could our grandchildren) without constant worry on our part. We have already reserved a week for next summer and would highly recommend this property. It is also the most reasonably priced location by far that we have found in the area.

Great location, but I expected more

Being at the height of the summer season on Lake Michigan, I was thrilled to get a home that was large enough for my husband, me, and our four grown children to spend a weekend together. We were coming from several locations and I only had a couple of weeks to try to put our weekend together. It’s a lovely, clean home. That being said, there are several issues that would prevent me from renting it again. Of the three toilets in the home, only two worked. There were only two showers, and one standing bathtub. The ability to cool all of the four bedrooms upstairs was weak, at best. Of the two ceiling fans upstairs, only two worked. Two of the upstairs bedrooms did have window a/c units, but the other two rooms were terribly hot. I had to empty the kitchen garbage when we arrived. Someone arrived at 4:05 (4:00 check-in) Friday to blow the leaves around outside. We had to jockey our cars around to let him out. There were dirty dishes in the cupboard. It is a “no pet home.” Naively, I thought that meant it was a no pet home. It meant that renters’ pets are not allowed. There are many signs of pets throughout the home - several kennels, doggie door leading outside, feeding supplies and fur/hair. We had to run out for more allergy supplies for our group as a result of animal dander throughout the house. I should have asked. I was thankful I could find a home large enough for the six of us. The home was clean, the location was great, the homeowner was very easy to reach and quick to respond to my many questions. However, for the daily rental fee, I expected more.

Perfect relaxation

We could not have asked for a better hideaway for our Lake Michigan stay. Lovely home with all of the amenities one could hope for. The location is perfect with a short stroll to the beautiful beach, easy walk to downtown shops & restaurants, and lovely view of the sunsets over the lake from the upper deck.
