Marne and co were excellent guests. Communication was quick and easy prior to her arrival. Everything was in excellent order at her departure.
We would be more than happy to recommend her to other hosts.
Best accommodations I’ve found for myself…got the chance to love on the Frenchie puppy and the dachshund—adorable and just the seratonin boost I needed!
Great very secure location in East Austin. Bikes were fun since we used them around town lake trails.
Host was very prompt with communications. Highly recommend it!
Perfect location for access to downtown and the eastside gym I like to drop in. Street parking was not an issue. I was immediately comfortable walking into the tiny home. The layout, overall build and finishings are lovely. AC kept the space cool and the bed is comfy. No issue with noise from the neighborhood. Would recommend!
We had a great time visiting Austin on our parents weekend away! The tiny house just added to the adventure. It was a perfect size for two and just what we needed. The location is wonderful and within walking distance to many, many restaurants, food trucks, and coffee shops. We also could walk to a big trail and enjoyed the lake view. We hope to come back to Austin again soon and be able to stay here again! Super fun!
We needed a place for UT graduation. This was perfect!!! House has everything we needed. We felt very safe. Loved the neighborhood. Sat on the front porch both morning and evening. Really a great space.
Neighborhood is truely typical of Austin, very transitional. Despite the main property being surrounded by shacks, I was told that those shacks are worth over $500k. The owners have a gorgeous home and the tiny house is nestled in the back.
Neighborhood is very close to the downtown and a lot of amenities. HEB supermarket delivers. First thing I did was download their app. Ordered some staples. Only one block up from 2nd St, there were every type of resturant possible. I walked to Interno (Italian) and Skyview Pizza. Easy walking distance for great places without ever having to go to the pricey posh places downtown.
Only complaint, UBER. The property is 2miles from the convention center. Chose not to rent a car, big mistake. Uber cost over $20-30 to get to downtown. Airport was over $50. It added up quick. There is plenty of parking in the neighborhood, so way your options for renting a car.
The unit was simply perfect. The highlight was the bathroom. Huge shower. For a crashpad, it was simply perfect. I didn't have to ask for anything.
Unlike many properties, the owners have done an excellent job with pictures and description. No surpises!
Nice location and has all the details to make you feel right at home. Great layout in this Tiny House for 2 Adults and Pets

Not the best experience
Overall the property felt a bit neglected. We had planned to bring dinner in to eat on the deck on our first night but it was unusable as it was quite dirty and piled with leaves, as was the outdoor seating itself. The yard area around the unit was mostly dirt, weeds and dog poop. The property did not feel particularly clean inside either. Dust on some surfaces, kitchen counters were junked up with with various appliances and large dish drainer, the floor was gritty and the window tracks had mold growing in them. There was an old, well-used sponge left for kitchen use which was just disgusting. I wound up cleaning the counters/surfaces with clorox wipes and swept the floor so we would have some level of comfort. The jar of earplugs on the nightstand was odd and made us worry about noise but I only heard the train a couple of times in the night. Bath towels seemed old and were quite rough. there was no bar or hooks so we had to drape towels over chairs to dry after use. The unit itself is cute but its condition was not particularly inviting.

Hi Andrea. Apologies on how your experience. We will certainly take action with the cleaners to ensure a better experience.
Regarding the leafs. This time of year the pecan trees drop their leafs non stop. Even though they are regularly removed they are back again within hours.
Sorry you missed the hooks in the bathroom as well as the towel/coat rack in the corner for the towels. You are correct counter space is limited (tiny houses) but the kettle, toaster, and dish rack are generally considered essential.
Perfect jumping off spot to check out East Austin. Great communication with owner (let us check in early), easy access to unit, close to downtown! Everything you need in a self-contained tiny home. Highly recommend staying here & checking out East Austin & the bats under the Congress Bridge!
Had a wonderful stay here. The property had everything we needed and more. Location is within walking distance to so many bars/coffee shops/restaurants while still being on a quiet neighborhood street. Host was very responsive and kind.
This tiny home is perfectly secluded. The property manager gave me plenty of privacy. Short ride to downtown area. A lot of fun bars and food options that are within walking distance. Would recommend!

About the host
Hosted by Chad Nordby
We love to travel ourselves and have stayed with other hosts in many countries. We have two kids, one dog, and one cat. You'll probably have the most interaction with the French Bulldog loves everyone. Catboy is an indoor and outdoor cat but she wants you to come to her.
We live in the main house on the property, so we are close by if you need anything. You may see us around doing yard work, or playing in the yard with our dogs and kids.
We respect your privacy, so unless you get in touch we'll let you have peace and quiet.
Why they chose this property
The Kanga Tiny House comfortably sleeps two people, sharing a queen bed. If you are traveling with a third person, or simply need extra sleeping space, we have a twin-sized air mattress available for you to borrow, or a pac'n'play for a little one. (Please ask for this in your reservation request if you need it). Floor space is limited, so we may rearrange furniture to comfortably accommodate your group.
Check-in time is 3pm or later. Access is through a keyless lock for which you'll be provided a code prior to approval, so late night check-ins are not a problem. Check-out time is 12pm.
Dogs are permitted on a case-by-case basis for an additional per visit fee of $25, and approval must be obtained ahead of a booking being made. The fee will be added to the booking through a booking alteration/special offer. In cases of Instant Books, we'll submit a request for pet fee payment through the Airbnb system. Guests must keep their dogs supervised at all times when in the yard, leashed when outside the yard, and must pick up after them.
The Kanga Tiny House is roughly 200 square feet, and features: - 1GB Fiber Internet (through Airport Extreme) - We do not have a TV but you can certainly stream your favorite shows with your own streaming services account (e.g. Netflix, Hulu, Amazon). - USB Charger for your devices - Wireless Charging Pad from Ikea (your device must be wireless enabled)
We keep the place well stocked with all of the basics, as well as extra towels and blankets.
We are: - 15 minutes (6.6 miles) from Austin Bergstrom International Airport, - 5 minutes (1.5 miles) from the Austin Convention Center, - Approx. $6 or $7 Uber/Lyft ride from downtown, - 1.7 miles to Austin's famous Rainey Street bar and restaurant district. We recommend taking Uber/Lyft unless you feel like a 30 minute walk, - 3 blocks away from the Lady Bird Lake trailhead on Pleasant Valley, for walking/biking/running (by Longhorn Dam).
What makes this property unique
If you enjoy exploring on foot, or alternative transit options like bikes and buses, this is a good spot for you. You'll be just one block away from Cesar Chavez St, a major thoroughfare that goes into downtown, where there's an eclectic mix of dining, drinking, retail, services, gas stations, and single family homes. We're only a few short blocks from the Lady Bird Lake trail and head over Longhorn Dam, which pops you out onto a hiking, biking, and running loop that is several miles long. The boardwalk over the lake provides great views of downtown.
There are plenty of things in walking distance, and we recommend looking at our Guidebook for more details. Our favorites for food & groceries: - JuiceLand on E Cesar Chavez, a smoothie & juice spot, approx. 3 minutes away - Tacos Guerrero on Cesar Chavez & Pleasant Valley, fantastic breakfast tacos for only $2 a piece - La Barbecue on E Cesar Chavez (we recommend preordering, at least 5 days in advance, to save yourself a couple of hours in a long line for the best brisket in town). - Kemuri Tatsu-Ya, 1.5 blocks away, fantastic Texas & Japanese fusion food - Juniper, 1 block away, a small plates restaurant with great cocktails - Counter Culture on E Cesar Chavez, a vegan restaurant, 2 blocks away - Blue Owl Brewing, a sour-mashed beer micro brewery, 1 block away - Juniper, a classy Italian restaurant with great wine and outdoor seating, 1 block away - HEB on E 7th, a grocery store, approx. 10 minutes away - Hi Hat on E 6th, a gastropub, approx. 15 minutes away - Counter Cafe on E 6th, a breakfast & lunch diner, approx. 15 minutes away - Launderette on Holly St at St Martinez Jr St has one of the best burgers in town plus a tasty rotating dessert menu.
There are many more options for dining and services. If you prefer to drive to any of these you'll get there in less than 5 minutes.
We're avid travelers ourselves, & love staying with other hosts any chance we get. We want to make your stay as comfortable & enjoyable.
