2nd stay... it's a gem. Regal and cozy, with many delicious restaurants within walking distance. Close enough to the beach to get there fast, but without being in the middle of the traffic. Quiet, chill, and quite affordable
Home was Beautiful and was a unique but pleasant experience. Truly was like being at home. Great location as well with lots of options for shopping and eating
Very nice place to get away. Needs a lamp on each side of the bed, please! Otherwise lovely.

Access was easy. The front restroom in the hallway before our room had a noticeable odor that could also be smelled in the room and the top of the barn doors for the closet in the bedroom had what looked like years of accumulated dust on them, which was surprising considering that one of the owners cited allergies when telling us we colud not smoke cigarettes outside on property. If that's a rule that's fine, but please list it or at least post signs. Other than that, the stay was easy and the location was great for access to the strand and shopping. We really liked that there was ground level access through the side "lobby" to our room and we could walk to most of the places we wanted to visit while there. The ability to bring our dogs at no extra charge was also a great feature.

Galveston Wedding for a friend
Great house and good location. Drapes on the windows to be able to sleep late would have been nice. Should be required.
Very close to the Strand and local restaurants were very good. The owners were very accommodating in allowing us to drop off our luggage early, as we had disembarked from our cruise.
The home has a lot of history and some beautiful wood work and ceiling. Property needs some TLC ! , and a luggage lift for the older adults that have difficulty carrying luggage up stairs.Over all quiet, comfortable, and close to downtown.

Disappointing
Location was great! Easy to get to anything we wanted to do. Bed was also comfy. Having a bathroom down a public hall was strange, but worked out ok. Decor in our room was seriously lacking. Curtains needed work in order to keep sun off our faces while resting, and off the furniture and floor in the evening which made the room warm. Discovered the shutters outside over the window with the a/c were broken/missing. Closet was musty, so didn’t use it. Dresser drawers weren’t clean. Only one small luggage rack in this huge room and nowhere else to put clothes besides the couch or a vanity stool. No tissues, either. There’s more little things I won’t take the time to list, but they all added up and made our stay very mediocre.
This was a professional colleague's first time to Texas and loved Galveston! This historic home was the PERFECT place for him to stay, so much that he came back the following month and stayed here again. The hosts are very gracious and accommodating, and for the price it must be one of the best deals on the island! Thanks so much.
Our original trip was delayed due to Hurricane Beryl. However, Brian scheduled us in for a couple of days the next week. The property was just beautiful and we couldn’t even tell that it had gone through a storm a couple days before. The Island is resilient and for the most part was opened back up to enjoy.
Spent the weekend at Grand Manor while attending concert in Galveston. Property was located in perfect location to walk to the 1894 Opera House & downtown shops. Was somewhat concerned about the outside appearance of the house but once inside was very pleased & impressed with the beautiful craftsmanship & cleanliness of this treasure. Owner was very helpful & we plan to visit again.
There are a lot of years in this house, and it has been well maintained. It is very close to most attractions, but we most enjoyed being able to walk to the Strand. The bed was very comfortable, bathroom and bedroom very clean. The owner was quick to answer any questions. The housekeeper (Karin) is a blessing.
the water only got to lukewarm is the only negative thing for this visit. It was, still warm enough for a comfortable shower.
Overall, our impression was good. The mansion is like a boutique hotel. There was an issue with the room we reserved for the first night and we were relocated to another part of the house - a larger space, actually the old servants' quarters on the ground floor of the house - had been turned into a suite. It was interesting, but felt pretty much like we were in a basement. The 2 portable AC units kept the suite very cool. And the bottle of wine was a nice touch. However we wanted to stay in the room we had reserved, so we moved upstairs to the 2nd floor on the 2nd day. The online description did not say anything about needing to navigate stairs or that the room was located on basically the 3rd floor of the home (servants quarters - ground (1st) floor; entrance to house, living rooms, dining room, kitchen - 2nd floor; guest rooms - 3rd floor). The online photos do show the entrance to the house only being accessible by the front staircase. I'm a senior citizen, and less stairs would have been good. The main floor of the house is decorated with Victorian charm, and the house represents its age (approx. 117 years old) very well. The location of this house is excellent - close to the Grand Theater, the Sunflower Bakery, the Mosquito Cafe and the Original Mexican Cafe. Really good places for entertainment and eating. The Strand is nearby, as well as many other historic homes. The seawall and the island's east beaches are just a few minutes away by car. Parking is good, at the front and side of the house. The owner was helpful and we enjoyed talking to him about the house.
Enjoyable historical home to stay at for a weekend visit. Hosts are gracious enough to allow access to most of the house. Quiet and affordable, easy parking.
Mansion was exquisite. Located in a quiet neighborhood, and close to the Strand, the beach and several good restaurants. (i.e. Sunflower Bakery, Mosquito Cafe, Coastal Grill, etc.).
The owner/ manager was friendly and very knowledgeable of the fascinating history of the facility.
Room was very large, nice and quiet. It would have been better however, if we had had an interior bathroom. Was inconvenient having to leave the room when needed. Also, some rooms had a Keurig coffee maker. Ours didn't. We needed to go down to the kitchen for coffee.
Otherwise a very enjoyable experience.
Traveled with my 6 year old and stayed in the Birds of Paradise room. The location of the mansion is perfect to jump between the pier/harborside blvd, the strand and just a quick drive to Stewart beach! Seawall Blvd not a far drive at all either. Definitely will consider staying here again. Room was exactly as described, contactless I barely ever saw anyone else and although this particular rooms bathroom is actually in the outside hallway we did not mind at all. My son was fascinated with the mansion and made himself right at home!
