Thinking of the Holidays? Snow covered mountains and frozen lakes. Lighted Christmas trees. Cozy wood burning fireplaces. Welcome to Hyde House, an exceptionally comfortable secluded country house surrounded in winter with snow covered trees. Centered on 22 private acres of land, near iconic Mount Chocorua, there is plenty of room to stretch, indoors and out. Built in the Edwardian era, around 1910, this historic home has been refurbished and now has 5 bedrooms, three and half baths, a double living room with fireplaces, formal dining room and a bright and sunny country kitchen. It even has a bonus sunroom, or home office.
Enjoy brilliant Fall foliage from the screened in porch. Sled the front lawn in winter or take the family to nearby King Pine or Cranmore ski resorts for downhill ski lessons. For the more experienced, Wildcat, Attitash and Bretton Woods are a short drive away. Cross country ski trails are nearby.
Tucked away out of sight, but handily just off Route 16, Hyde House is just north of the village of Chocorua, Tamworth, located in the Lakes Region in the White Mountains.
The house sleeps 8 comfortably with four spacious romantic bedrooms on the second floor, two with king-size beds, including a four poster. Two other bedrooms have two single beds each. A crib and highchair are also available. Couples with children are welcome.
Downstairs, the kitchen has a gas cooker, new stainless-steel fridge, two freezers, new dishwasher and a microwave. A washer and dryer is on the second floor. Wi-Fi throughout. Roku TV. DVD players. The wildly popular year-round Farmer's Market in the village of Tamworth on Saturday mornings is 2 miles away with country music, home baked goodies and artisan cheese. The Cook Library and Chocorua Library close by rent out videos and lend books. For hikers, Chocorua Mountain trails start half a mile away. Dedicated shoppers enjoy the North Conway outlets which offer steep discounts on name brands Polo Ralph Lauren, Kate Spade, Coach, Michael Kors, Eddie Bauer, LL Bean and more.
There is a quarter mile driveway off Route 16 to reach the house and plenty of parking space for 4 or 5 cars.
Two hours by car from Boston, an hour from Manchester, New Hampshire. Your fall and winter getaway waits for you.

Put the trash in large bags and leave it in the mud room. Glass, soda cans and steel cans should be separated for recycling, ,
Please be out of the house by 10 am to allow for cleaners to come in,
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

My husband and I bought this property in 2000. We renovated it and now our children and grandchildren enjoy it with us. It is a very relaxing place, with space for everyone. The kitchen is large and family friendly with its own Jodel gas stove to keep things toasty in winter. We love watching the many different birds and butterflies who appear in the garden in summer. In winter we cozy up next to the fire, read books and watch movies. Summer or winter, after a few days in the house you too will feel calm and refreshed. A perfect antidote to city life.
