Middle River Beach House (East and West)

Middle River Beach House is perfect for up to 3 families or 5 couples looking for a beachside escape. The East Wing consists of 3 bedrooms (2 queen beds & 2 x single bunks in the third bedroom) with a large open plan kitchen, lounge and dining. The West Wing is a replica of the East Wing and are available to rent together, however the third bedroom consists of a trio bunk (Single over a double bed, with a roll-out single trundle underneath). Only a short walk to the stunning Snellings Beach. Middle River Beach House has magnificent panoramic views of the ocean over Snellings and Middle River meeting the sea. On a clear day The Althorpes Islands can be seen across Investigator Strait.

We are located next door to the famous Fig Tree restaurant, open mid-November until early April - The most amazing dining experience inside a Fig Tree!

As of 2025, we are now on solar.

At MRBH you will wake up to kangaroos outside your window and be spoilt for lots of other wildlife including koalas, red-tailed glossy black cockatoos and if you are lucky echidnas, goannas and wedged-tailed eagles!

Stokes Bay is 15 minutes away to walk through the famous rock tunnel and enjoy a meal at the Rockpool Cafe (Sept - May). Flinders Chase National Park visitor centre is 45 minutes away, gateway to Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch.

Brilliant house for families. The two wings meant we could have our family of different generations staying comfortably together. The views from the house are superb as is the stunning natural location. Walking finance to the Fig Tree restaurant and beach, or a very short drive.

Peaceful spot for Kangeroo Island experience

Our party of 9 enjoyed a well earned 4 day stay at Middle River Guest House. The views alone were worth the trip. The lay out of the house suited us perfectly - heaps of space and everything supplied to make our stay easy. Highly recommended,For improvement - some wardrobe space to hang clothing would be great and coverings at main windows to keep out the afternoon sun.

Where to start .. beautiful, immaculate well presented house. Fabulous views so close to a beautuful beach which we walked to every day. loads of kangaroos. Such a relaxing setting. He owners were so very friendly and helpful. Would definitely come back again and would recommend to everyone.

SO much fun for 2 families in 2 houses

Great opportunity to get together and to also have seperate spaces when needed. Great location, brilliant views and loads of feel at home features. Brilliant kitchen with a view and well equipped. Definitely recommend and hope to return.

Aside from a blackout for the entire laast night even

We had a great time m. That said after a large investment in our time in the island and handin the homes back,one of the kids accidentally still attached the lining of the bin itself when disposing of rubbish. Due to no flexibility on departure time we had to do much of the work in the dark and cold. Great place though.

Great Family Getaway

This was a great place to stay with family, particularly if there are ones you want to be close to but not that close as there are two separate houses that connect. the houses suited us well and had everything we needed for a short stay. Snellings Beach was beautiful, would love to come back in warmer weather to take advantage of the beach and river.

Great houses, fabulous views.

Very spacious, clean, well equipped houses with everything you need. Great views, an easy walk to the beach and river and centrally located for exploring all the Island’s attractions. I grew up on Kangaroo Island 25 minutes from Middle River on a sheep and cattle farm and met my husband Tim at high school in Adelaide who happened to spend family holidays at Middle River when he was a child. They married at The Cliff House at Snellings Beach in 2010 and now have 3 children based in Adelaide. We love spending time now at Middle River as much as we can with our own young family.
