This secluded Chilmark cottage, beautifully landscaped, sits on a high point off of Meeting House Road with a sweeping view of the Atlantic ocean. The house is light-filled and airy, with comfortable living spaces, a master bedroom with queen bed, a smaller room with one full bed & one single bed. Access to private dock on Chilmark Pond over which you boat in our kayaks/canoe to Hancock Beach. Cook's kitchen and outdoor shower make this a vacation dream.

Secluded with a view of the ocean

On a dirt road nestled in woods but close to major roads for sightseeing, hiking and boating. Clean and comfortable cottage for two.

We found the house very well maintained, comfortably furnished, and pleasantly situated. Everything in the listing was accurate, The house has an exceptional location, out of sight of any neighbors and with a fine view of the ocean. We spent many quiet afternoon and evening hours reading on the porch or in the living room, with only a summer breeze through the screens and the occasional sound of the surf. Ms. Hume provided a complete guide to the house and the Vineyard and was very pleasant to deal with.

Peace, beauty, and understated luxury

We three very seniors, found the simplest of pleasures in reading, beach-strolling, General Store in Chilmark and fishing eats in Menemsha, and all the comforts of a lovely well-equipped home- what a treasure! Thank you, thank you!

Exquisite MV Cottage

An exquisite and cozy Martha’s Vineyard cottage, this property has amazing views, an amazing kitchen, and a perfect location. It is a beautiful house and property, with everything from the ocean view to wild turkey sightings. It is convenient to all locations on the Vineyard, and is beautifully decorated. The owner is organized, thoughtful, and responsive. Highly highly recommend!!

Perfect Chilmark vacation

This house was a perfect up-island getaway. We were more impressed with the location and inside of the home when we saw it in person. Nancy was excellent communicating updates, rules, etc throughout the year leading up to our vacation, checked in with us when we arrived and gave a reminder the day before we left. The house is stocked with absolutely everything you could possibly need- kitchenware, linens, beach supplies etc. The pond/ beach access is one of the most beautiful and exclusive locations on the island and we loved using the canoe to have beach days. We wished we could have stayed all summer!

Beautiful , quiet setting

The property was more amazing than the listing portrayed. We loved being able to have a view of the ocean from all of the windows and deck. House was immaculate and since we love to cook we were very pleased with how well stocked the kitchen was. We would definitely like to come back.

Peaceful Up-Island Getaway

We loved our off-season stay at this secluded and cozy cottage with its amazing ocean view and proximity to Lucy Vincent Beach and Menemsha. The cottage was very clean and nicely decorated with a well-equipped kitchen; owner was very responsive when needed.

Special place

Beautiful location and home in a remote part of the Island. We had a great time celebrating my husband's birthday. The home is very well cared for and comfortable with many amenities that made our stay special, including a well supplied kitchen and outdoor grill, great deck with views of the ocean, and access to kayaks for use on Chilmark Pond. The owner was very responsive to questions and provides a great info sheet about the house and what to do during our stay. We are very grateful for our time there!

Perfect “Retreat and Restore” Destination!

This property was a pleasant surprise in many ways though it looked very nice in photos,too. Beautiful spot for enjoying the weather, view and hanging out when not at the beach or exploring the island! Everything you need is provided in the kitchen, too!! Owners easy to reach and and responsive! We’ll be back!

My parents bought this property in the early 60s and built, in 1967, the big, un-winterized house I grew up enjoying. I have been coming to the Vineyard all my life and consider this a magical island. My mother built this cottage to live in year-round in 2005. My family and I love our time in this home, on Chilmark Pond and Hancock Beach, throughout the seasons. Currently, we live in the South Street Seaport neighborhood of New York City.

Why they chose this property

This area of Chilmark is called the "gold coast" of the Island because it is on a high point that looks down and out across the spectacular Atlantic Ocean. It is within easy reach of Chilmark Pond and the Atlantic beyond. The property is Up-Island: close to Lucy Vincent Beach, West Tisbury and the wonderful Free Library there and Alley's General Store, Menemsha (the fishing village with fish markets), Squibnocket (another fabulous town beach), and Acquinnah with the Western look-out and majestic clay cliffs.

What makes this property unique

The house is easy and comfortable for a group of four, and has all that one needs for a happy vacation. There is an outdoor shower, and a shower/bath/sink and washer/dryer in one full bathroom, with a toilet/sink in another. The kitchen is ready for the culinary enthusiast and the outdoor grill makes summer dining easy.
