Got cabin fever? Come to the mountains of the Red River upper valley, 8 minutes from town!

This large, 2500 square foot, open concept cabin is a “cabin away from home”. It is located four miles from the town of Red River and is close to dramatic hikes, skiing, snow-boarding!

Our cabin has plenty of room to stretch out and relax as you get away from it all. The large, modern kitchen has a glass tiled backsplash and is well stocked with dishes, utensils, stainless steel appliances, a crock pot, stock pot, pots and pans, blender, large toaster, coffee pot and much more.

Enjoy your meals from the indoor dining table while you take in the views of Wheeler Peak in front of you. Then head outside to the massive wrap around front porch! Enjoy your morning coffee or evening cocktail while you sit and take in the views and refreshing mountain air. During warmer months, take advantage of the patio furniture on the porch too!

A master king-size bedroom is downstairs and has an ensuite bathroom. with separate rooms for each sink!

All towels and bedding for the comfy beds are provided. You’ll also enjoy free WIFI at the cabin, as well at many of the shops and restaurants in town. We have a satellite TV downstairs. You can nap, hike, watch the hummingbirds, and just relax. The community center in town has free daily activities in summer, lots of fun for the entire family. The towns of Angel Fire, Taos, and Eagle Nest are no more than 30-60 minutes away.

If you're interested in skiing, here are the drive times to each of the resorts:

Red River Ski Valley: 13 mins
Angel Fire Ski Valley: 47 mins
Taos Ski Valley: 1 hour and 10 mins

When approaching the cabin, you will see majestic Wheeler Peak, rising 13,000 feet in front of you. The cabin sits at road level, perfect for parking your ATV trailer and NO 4WD or AWD is necessary in winter months!

This cabin and it’s fun and peaceful surroundings will help you and your family and friends create memories for years to come. We can’t wait for you to enjoy it!

Our cancellation policy is as follows:
Travelers who cancel at least 30 days before check-in will get back 100% of the amount they've paid. If they cancel between 14 and 30 days before check-in, they'll get back 50%. Otherwise, they won't get a refund.

This cabin worked out great for our family, we all enjoyed it. The wraparound deck was wonderful--coffee in the morning and wine at night while watching the deer next door. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed--better than most rentals! The location was excellent! We'd consider renting this same property again in the future.

This place was Amazing!

This property far and away exceeded our expectations.. It was large and spacious, and the rooms were well equipped for a mountain cabin. The kitchen was well equipped.. the bathrooms were clean and well kept.. And modern. We will definitely stay here again with our family.

Birch Valley did not disappoint. Plenty of space for our family and beautiful mountain views. Loved how close it was to town, yet allowed you to escape to the mountains at night. Love, love Red River and this property. Thank you!

Ski get away with friends!

Such an amazing host & incredible property! The location had amazing views and is great for big groups & I will definitely be looking into staying here again next year! Also, the host Lisa is great and has amazing communication skills!

Perfect house!

This house was perfect! Super comfy beds, everything you need in the kitchen, beautiful porch, warm, location!! We could be in town for skiing in 15 minutes. Highly recommend this home for your vacation, we would defiantly stay here again.

Beautiful views!

We were very pleased staying here! The house was very spacious for everyone staying, cozy where you needed it to be and the views were perfect. When we had an issue with the hot water not working Lisa was so quick to respond and get things fixed ASAP! Overall we were very happy staying here and plan on making it back here again.

We really enjoyed the views in this beautiful home, the huge porch is awesome, and communication with Lisa was great! House was clean and lovely and plenty of room for our 11 guests to be comfortable.

Wonderful cabin!

This cabin is in a great location, just 5 min from town and right off the main road. Very quiet, beautiful views. It had everything we needed for a family of 5. The cabin stayed very warm, not drafty at all. Cleaning service could do a better job on the bathrooms, but otherwise was a perfect stay!

Family Get Away in Red River

Very beautiful, comfortable cabin with everything you need. Everything worked well except for the grill did not heat properly. Beautiful views, easy access to ATV trails and close to Red River. Very peaceful. Enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful Cabin!

We enjoyed our stay so much. Tons of hanging space for coats, coveralls, etc. washer and dryer to get that snow gear clean too! Our favorite part was cooking in the kitchen then relaxing on the back deck next to the fire pit each evening listening to all the animal sounds. Lisa checked in on us and has been nothing but great! Would highly recommend this cabin for family get togethers.

Our family of 12 spent 2 nights here relaxing before heading home from our vacation in Lake City, CO. The house was great because it is just a short drive to Red River, has a large deck around the house for our kids to play and hang out, has plenty of room and inside the house has everything you need to cook. I definitely recommend this as a great stay for your family.

Fun day trip

Was a quick day one night stay with friends, but was a nice spot to hang out. We did have some issues with the downstairs plumbing but the owner was kind enough to take care of things for us. Would overall recommend.

The perfect place even in the snow

This was a beautiful house easily accessible even in the snow. The driveway was plowed each time it snowed. There was plenty of room for our group of 9 to spread out. The short drive back to Red River was easy as the roads remained plowed as well. Communication with Mrs. Lisa was great, she even checked in to ask how our week was going. This was the perfect place for our stay for our skiing trip and we intend to return.

Great cabin for friends and families of littles!

This cabin has easy access for ATV trailer parking and driving. We had three families with a toddler in each family, and this cabin was perfect. The deck was great for the kids to play and run around on in the sunshine as well as the shade. The living room was spacious for all of our fun and entertainment needs. Each bedroom had space for our own pack-n-plays so the little ones could sleep in the same room as parents.

Two Extremes

Upon arrival it was obvious the house had not been cleaned since the kitchen was dirty, bedsheets were scattered on the floor, etc. Our three families spent the first day of our stay moving our stuff back and forth between two houses, so there is no 5-star review here. However, once we were settled, the property was, as promised, located in a quiet, beautiful valley with excellent views. If you can be sure the house would be cleaned upon arrival, I would definitely recommend it.

Country Cabin

The drive from town is about 8-10mins, so not bad for the skiing side of things. The cabin was great, we loved the views and the secluded scenery, no close neighbors so very quite! Only a few tips to give, definitely drive a 4WD, as we left early in the morning and the roads and driveway had not been plowed yet and a heavy snow came throughout the night. Also, the dining table Bench can be tricky, if one person is sitting on the far end and another person at the other end of the bench, when one gets up its like a catapult (so be careful), we just laughed at this and would warn each other when getting up from the table side bench!

Our family has been coming up to Red River from the Dallas area since the late 1940s. My great-grandmother bought a cabin up Bitter Creek Road in town and later built a cabin off of High Street. It was here where the family made memories as we spent our growing up years vacationing here. We were sad when my grandparents sold it, but nothing could keep us from Red River! My mom bought a cabin in the Upper Valley. And now we are creating new traditions and remembering the old ones, as the next generation makes memories in the Red River mountains. We hope this cabin provides the same, unforgettable experiences for your family.

Why they chose this property

We loved the flat ground surrounding the cabin, making it perfect for ATV trailers in the summer and snow ball fights in the winter. The floor to ceiling windows are awesome and the cabin is so incredibly spacious for families and friends to gather around the fireplace or TV. The 4 bedrooms are wonderful for privacy and one of the bedrooms, makes for a great kid's room, complete with 2 queens and a twin even a hideaway room for the kids, but don't tell the parents! The massive wrap around porch is one of our favorite qualities of the cabin! It's the perfect place to grill, enjoy a meal, drink your morning coffee or evening cocktail, and it's big enough for a dance party! We love this place!
