About this property
XMAS IN JULY = FREE Night & Summer Fun! 3br, 3ba, Spa, Bikes, Gourmet Kitchen
Our Big Sky Ski-Bike-Hike Hut has everything you need for the perfect Montana vacation (and fishing too, in the nearby, pristine, "blue ribbon" Gallatin River). The snow will soon be melting off the sled hill out back, and if you look carefully and quietly, you might see the neighborhood moose & her calf there. When the sage is in bloom in the meadow off the back deck, and the mountain bluebirds flutter about the fence posts, it truly is magical. Our reviews will confirm your choice, with comments like “wonderful,” “perfect,” “best VRBO ever,” “awesome,” “fantastic,” etc.
Our luxurious Big Sky "ski hut" is a fully-furnished 3 bedroom, 3 bath, 1844 sq. ft. townhome style chalet with everything your family needs for a Montana vacation, combining a far away feeling with close-to-everything convenience. Only a few minutes from the ski and bike lifts of Big Sky Resort, but ages away from the crowds of other resorts. Yellowstone National Park's west entrance is an hour south, and the charming city of Bozeman an hour north. Now, for a limited time only, we’ll bonus any 6 day rental with a FREE ADDITIONAL NIGHT! And we do mean "Christmas"--the week pre Dec. 25 is practically all remaining vacancy for winter.
Your Big Sky Ski-Bike-Hike Hut includes:
--Master br upstairs with medium-firm queen and en suite sit-down shower, curling iron & hair dryer, and huge walk-in closet with “private office” alcove (wireless printer included). A quiet and private retreat from downstairs activities.
--Guest br upstairs with firm queen mattress and private en suite bath/shower, large closet.
--Bonus room downstairs with bunk beds and firm queen futon, gym equipment, 32” t.v., dvd player.
--Spacious great room with the most comfortable leather reclining sofa and loveseat in Big Sky, high-speed Internet, 60" TV & Blu-Ray entertainment center, Apple and Roku internet tv (Netflix, Youtube, Prime, etc.).
--Cozy wood burning fireplace and free firewood.
--Spacious sunset deck with sagebrush meadow view--and the occasional elk, moose, coyote, sandhill crane, mountain bluebird, tree swallow, goldfinch, or tanager.
--Large private hot tub, outdoor dining for 4, deck chairs for sunsetting.
--Gourmet kitchen with new refrigerator and stove, blender, microwave, slow cooker, rice cooker, dutch oven, sharp cutlery, power mixer, airpopper, quality cookware, and lots of wine glasses.
--Large dining room table with seating for 6; breakfast bar has stools for 4.
--Luxurious bedding and towels for all, plus "backups".
--Large capacity washer and dryer,
--Heated garage with 2 free loaner bikes, sled, and snowshoes. You’ll love the heated garage on powder days, heading up the mountain in your clean and comfy car while the neighbors are still digging out from the snow!
--Many local guidebooks, trail maps, shuttle schedule, restaurant menus, even a pair of binoculars for wildlife or stargazing!
This location is perfect for a multi-purposed outdoorsy family--we rented in Big Sky for years, and chose Firelight Meadows for its year 'round convenience to everything that's special about the area. We're less than a mile from Town Center with its market, restaurants, and services, an easy walk, or quick bike ride away. In the winter, Big Sky's free shuttle service runs up the mountain to the ski area hourly, or it's an easy 10 minute drive.
Yellowstone Park's gateway is an hour south. Big Sky is the perfect basecamp for exploring the Park, much better than the carnival atmosphere of West Yellowstone or Gardiner, plus some of the best fishing in the West is right down the canyon on the Gallatin (or the little kids pond on Crail Creek in Meadow Village). Our restaurants have more variety than West's "trout dinner" tourist fare, as well. Summer is glorious here--don't miss the hike up Ousel Falls (just 1/4 mile away), definitely one of the best easy hikes in Montana, or the climb to Beehive Basin in the magnificent Spanish Peaks, only a few miles up the road. Big Sky Resort has abundant mountain bike trails, zip lines, and many other summer activities, even an excursion to the top of 11,177 ft. Lone Peak. Golf at the Arnold Palmer designed public course in the Meadow area not only has bunkers and water hazards, but a "Moose Hazard" as well. When fall arrives the hunting is fantastic, maybe too easy, judging from all the elk mounts on the neighbors' walls. See our Summer Events calendar below for more info.
Big Sky Resort skiing is truly "the biggest in America," with 5800 acres, 4100 vertical feet, and terrain for every skill level. Lift lines are non-existent. Overheard as I schussed up to Ramcharger last winter, "I'm taking a picture of this for my buddy skiing in Colorado, he's been in line for 30 minutes!" Children and beginners have two "shuffle up" carpet lifts and their own slow chair. Intermediates have perhaps the best l-o-o-o-n-n-g blues in the Western Hemisphere, with superb daily grooming. And Experts, let me tell you, you won't be able to ski all the EPIC steep terrain at Big Sky if you're only here a week. Oops, I almost forgot the TREES--there's glades for everybody, moderate and cleared for intermediates, steep and deep for the rest of us, and a bunch of runs where you can ski expert left, intermediate right, and meet at the bottom for the lift ride back up. There really are options for everybody at Big Sky, including over 80 miles of groomed cross-country skiing at Lone Mountain Nordic Resort, linked to the trail in the valley, just a block away from us. 2025 Season Update: a new, heated/bubbled 8-seat lift is now on the Moonlight (North) side, as well as a spectacular upgrade to 75 seats for the Lone Peak tram, and a new gondola from base to Powder Bowl will be in action for the 2026 season.
