I am a Certified Public Accountant working for the Federal Government , and I also running my property rental business. recently, I have been focusing more on vacation rental due to its dynamic feature. Vacation rental is one of my many passions, dealing with customers and learning from each other. I have developed excellent relationships with my clients via Ottawa vacation rental as well as Victoria BC rental (Property Number 515604). Every guest has his/her unique requirements and I have trying to fulfill l them. As this is my first year to welcome short vacation rental guests in Ottawa, please refer to a number of decent reviews for my Victoria vacation rental since I started my vacation rental in 2013 (vrbo property No. 515604).
Amy Ng purchased this House in 2009
Why Amy Ng chose Crystal Bay - Lakeview Park - Britannia Village
Since This is a Triplex Unit With Wooden Steps, It Maintains an Unique Cottage Look. I Renovated the Whole Backyard and Side Interlock Walkway, This Property Has Drawn Many Renters in the Past 5 Years. Starting from This Year, I Have Decided to Broaden My Horizon of Vacation Rental Business in Ottawa Since I Have Been Doing Very Well in Victoria. Nearly a 4
This property gets 3 big stars: 1 for the owner, Amy, who was thoughtful, friendly and responsive. 1 for the location, which was close to restaurants and shopping, about 15 minutes to either downtown or Kanata. And 1 for affordability - no way you could beat the price. I did speak to the owner about a couple cleaning and furniture issues, and I have no doubt she will address those things and make this a true 4 star property. Access is a bit awkward, particularly if you have large luggage as the entryway is quite narrow with about 12 steep steps into the basement.
Did not live up to expectations.
I do not believe this place meets the basic safety or cleanliness standards to be a VRBO property. The steps down to the basement suite are very long and steep. The steps up to the entrance are in very poor condition with a wobbly hand rail. The beds are comfortable, there is lots of hot water, the location is excellent. The rest is all negative. The suite is very cluttered, the windows are small and dirty. The back yard could be lovely but the fence is in disrepair and the gate is off its hinges. At a low enough rent this would be a great find for a struggling student, as a VRBO it misses the mark.
Honestly I am surprised and distressed that these elderly travellers left us this inferior review after we contacted them for possible water stain damages with 3 big blue molds grown on our two wooden washroom drawers. Besides two dogs (I thought they had only one dog) left the pees on the floors while they were there. After they checked-in, this is a message that we received:
"We are in now. All is well. Thanks.
Thu 8/8/2019 8:08 PM EDT"
The negative feedback was never communicated to us during their 18-day stay. Before they checked-in, we had another couple stayed with us for a month for their wedding preparation. Unfortunately, they left the suite in despair(plumbing had to be replaced and area rugs in living room needed to be steam-cleaned to remove smell mixed with dog and smoke ). In addition, there is nothing like what they mentioned "cluttered". The suite is decorated modern with simple furniture which makes it spacious as shown. I was in overseas while they were about to check in. I instructed them with all check-in information and internet password. We also installed All season LG Heat/AC pump which makes the suite very comfortable.
It is great to have guests with sense of belonging when you have guests enjoying the suite. However, these couple tried to close our backyard wooden door with force so that the hinge was off. It could be easily fixed with applying some WD-40. While the husband was busy, the wife was left with two extremely active dogs, tracing my cat and even another street cat, who accidently entered my suite and scratched me and left a lot of blood on my hands. I had to invite the neighbour to take the mad cat out. Secondly, a lovely young lady came to stay in the suite on the first week without my permission. Additional two guests came without my acknowledgement on the last night. All I want to say is that these guests were not open enough to inform us anything that they were not happy about. I had a few short cheerful conversations with her and her husband as well as their grand daughter. Nothing seemed wrong until we pointed out some possible damages to the suite by email. They denied they had anything to do with molding drawers. Anyway, this will be the last time that we accept pets in the suite. The comment made by them not only disrespectful to us as VRBO property owner and also to my past guests, who are working professionals and athletes, who happened to know the guests.
Communication is a key.
Nice and comfortable.
Beautiful location in beach neighbourhood.
3 minute walk to walk/ bike path.
3 minute walk to amenities.
This place is perfect, good location and very clean. Amy the owner is awesome to deal with. This is our second stay in the unit very happy with it .
Thank you Cal and his shooting crew including 5 members in our Triplex suite. Cal and his crew won the silver Plate in their 2017 Olympic Shooting Event organized in Ottawa, close to Kanata . I am so proud to have them in the suite, sharing some fun stories at the backyard. They are so clean and friendly beyond my expectations. Before Cal came to stay with us in 2016 for the country wide shooting event (only Canada), he requested a barbecue to be installed at the backyard, in which we honoured our promise to allow them truly enjoy this special feature in which one can never expect that in the hotel/motel settings. Please come again, Cal and Denis.
Amy was very nice to deal with, she came home from work to let us in to our suite. She lives upstairs in the house, we never heard or saw her all week, of course we were gone from early morning until later in the evening. We where a party of four (2 couples) staying in this property for one week. The property was a basement suite with 2 bedrooms and one bathroom and a kitchen, living room combined. It was clean, the kitchen had been upgraded. The beds were very comfortable, but could have used some decent pillows and sheets that fit the beds, had to get up in the night and put them back on, the blankets were a little old, could use an upgrade, there was no dresser in the 2nd bedroom, so one couple had to live out of their suitcase for the week. Mirrors in the bedrooms would have been nice. Had to do our hair in the living room because that was where the only mirror outside of the bathroom (which was always busy) The bathroom is very tiny, the shower was very small, there is no fan so it was a constant fog in there. There is a small washer and dryer, which we used, and you have to hook the washer up to the kitchen tap, which was not an issue. The wifi was poor , 2 nights to watch one movie on Netflix, only 4 TV channels, which was not a problem. Our biggest concern with the property was the size of the windows. With that being said, it was a great location, close to the bus route, Tim Hortons, mall and a movie theatre. We rented during Canada Day so our choices where slim to none. Thank you Amy, we enjoyed our stay in Ottawa, beautiful city.
Thank you so much for Terry to give her suggestions for us to improve the conditions of the suite. Terry and her crew (4 members) came to Ottawa to celebrate 150 Anniversary of Canada. While we appreciate her comment, we do feel that they have got very good rate for 4-people stay for the price of one night stay if they would have booked the motel or hotel during this competitive season. Ottawa was packed with full of folks, who wanted to share their celebrating spirit. It is 10-min driving distance to downtown Ottawa and Parliament Hill. It is 5-mins walk to all amenities including restaurant, grocery shopping and cinema. Mostly interesting feature this suite provides is its proximity to the Britannia beach with only 5-min walking distance, you find yourself in a beach with white sand and security guard on site. For the washroom, we installed LG heating and a/c wall unit to refresh the air and take away the humidity. I found that it was a pity that they did not know how to adjust the features available for the awesome unit. Otherwise, they might be able to enjoy more. Most hotels offers laundry service with a imposed charge. Here, Portable washer and dryer are in the suite for the convenience of the guests. The only thing that they did not open the windows at all while they were here. It is summer and we also love the fresh air from the backyard garden. I guess they needed their privacy.
We always want to continue improving our service provided to the guests. In taking consideration of Terrie's comment, we have replaced all the blankets and bed sheets.
Wifi has been upgraded with fasting features after we consider Terrie's comment about internet service available. So the guest can watch their Netfiix movies without interruption. We only have 4 TV channels just to accommodate some guests who are not technology savvy and have problems to use their laptops. In fact, the TV subscription is in the decreasing trend. Now most consumers switch to watch most of the news and TV online.
In addition, concerning the window size, the guests were advised to vacate via the stairs of the upper unit in the triplex building should anything such as fire or flood incurs. In conclusion, I am very pleased they were very happy for their stay and they were in our beautiful capital city to enjoy this unique moment once in 150 years. Please come again, Terrie. We truly enjoyed your being with us on this special occasion. Thank you!!
The Ottawa/Gatineau region looks like an elaborate painting blended with a modern metropolitan city. Nestled at the meeting of three major rivers – the Ottawa River, the Gatineau River, and the Rideau River – Canada’s capital city has 19th century architecture and outdoor landscapes made to charm any visitor.
The most popular site in Ottawa is the Rideau Canal, which cuts through the heart of the region. Many residents and tourists can be seen having picnics or relaxing on an afternoon break near the canal. In the winter, when this massive body of streaming water is completely frozen over, the canal transforms into the world’s largest ice skating rink. This alone is a sight enough to make the trip.
Also Gatineau Park is another park reflecting nature beauty which will takes one’s breath away. The Park is huge. The Pink Lake hike is a must see. This park is wonderful with unique plants and wildlife, one can do some cycling, camping hiking giving peaceful and tranquility to one’s life one can also walk around Pink Lake, taking about 20 minutes to go around the lake. It is called Pink Lake but in fact it is green reflecting different kinds of minerals. This is the reason probably it is named Pink Lake after the Pink family.
Also, If one wants to be more adventurous, the Skyline trail has excellent views especially spectacular in the fall. The Mackenzie estate (the Past Prime Minister) is worth the trip. Take your canoe to Meech Lake. (Start at trail 40 and paddle North - there's a cool stream to paddle away. The terrain is very varied, views are great, the trails are well marked, getting there by car is a breeze, and parking is easy. Some of the trails are challenging, and involve a lot of climbing, fording streams, and so on. But some of the trails are easy to do in walking shoes, so there really is something for everyone. The most beautiful time of the year is in the fall. Leaves turn color and it is the most beautiful scene. You can walk for hours and children can enjoy playing in the leaves. Beautiful in the winter and summer for people who like to bike in the summer and snow shoe in the winter. Absolutely beautiful!
