Hollymount Country House is situated in the beautiful area of Hollymount on the Cork/Kerry border. Situated 2km fromu Rathmore, Hollymount is a quiet, serene and utranquil location which offers guests complete privacy and freedom to explore the rugged landscape and natural beauty. Enjoy the majestic hills and valleys which surround the property on every side. Alternatively, one can travel to Killarney, the famous scenic town in Kerry, which is only 24km away. From there The Ring begins.

Rathmore itself is a quiet village, sitting on the border between Cork and Kerry.
There is are some bars, shops and other local amenities. It a safe friendly and welcoming village, an experience you will never forget.

Rathmore House was built in the late 1800s and original features are still visible to this day. It is classified as a “workers cottage”; a classification named and protected by the Local County Council. To the south west, you can see the all dominating mountains called the Paps of Danu. These mountains have a history dating back to Neolithic times, when pre Christian people climbed the mountain to honour pagan gods. Each year this tradition is upheld.

Une maison magnifique

La maison était très chaleureuse et confortable. L'arrivée s'est très bien déroulée (une bouteille de vin nous attendait sur la table) et John a répondu rapidement à nos questions. Trois chambres sont disponibles avec deux salles de bain. La cuisine est ensoleillée et bien équipée. L'emplacement est magnifique et convient aux personnes qui voyagent en voiture. De la maison, nous avons rayonné à la péninsule de Dingle, au parc national de Killarney, et autres. Nous nous sommes vraiment senti comme chez nous.

Better than advertised!

So I rated the accuracy of this listing (along with everything else) as a 5 because I did not want to send the wrong first impression. The home was undersold - I think John has put more pictures up and I'm glad because the original pictures (when I booked) did not do it justice. My husband and I made our first trip to Ireland and I had specific goals in mind for accommodations. My husband is a country person vs. city and I wanted to make sure our accommodations provided for the peace and serenity that come with space:). Plus I wanted to experience Ireland as close to the way Irish people do, hoping that renting a little bit out of the way might provide that opportunity. This home isn't right in the "center of things" but it's absolutely close enough to enjoy both the space and the sights many of us come to see. We had stayed in a studio room for two nights in Dublin and when we arrived at this house we had big smiles on our faces - the house has lots of room, beautiful pine wood throughout, a big lovely country view from the large kitchen, two bedrooms and two baths. We rented this home for just the two of us but it could easily accommodate a family with 2-3 children provided they aren't older/adult children who would prefer not to share a bedroom. From this home base we traveled the Ring of Kerry one day, drove back to Kenmare and up through Molls Gap into Killarney National Park for some walking and touring the next day, and then left the third day traveling through the Dingle Peninsula to our next night's stay in Listowel. I booked this home way back in February for an August trip. I've had some questions between then and now and John always responded kindly and promptly. Check-in and check-out was easy, we could have parked 6 cars there:), and we felt much rested after being able to spread out and relax! Thank you, John - your home is lovely!
