Thing's to Do
Ponce offers a wealth of activities to do during your stay. Here's a list of it's top attractions:
La Guancha Pier: Can be visited during the week, but it truly shines in the weekend. Feed huge schools of fish by the pier or indulge in culinary options all over the area. A visit to the lighthouse is a must.
Caja de Muerto Island: A natural reserve since 1980, this beautiful paradise takes its name from the Spanish Conquistadors who, when looking at the island from a distance said it looked like a coffin, hence its name in Spanish. Snorkeling, kayaking and paddle boarding are the attractions here, and Pelican beach is tough to beat here in the south. To get there, boats leave La Guancha pier at 8:30am, but we recommend being there at least 1 hour before. Book before arriving; strongly recommended.
Sport Complex: A sports fan's Paradise!! Whenever is Baseball, Basketball, Soccer, Cycling, jogging or Tennis, we got you covered!! Best yet, there's a 4 mile jogging trail that ends at the Beach , what better way to cool off?!!
The Neighborhood
Los Caobos is the most centric urban area in Ponce. Literally, all of the main attractions are 7 to 15 minutes away. Ponce's main Police station is only one block away and it's biggest Super Market also. Pharmacies and Dry Cleaners are close also making it a very convenient spot to stay.
Getting Around
Rentals are recommended as it's likely that your stay will take you to different spots around the island. Therefore, book them in advance before arrival. There's a "Popular Auto" ( Local Car rental business ) office right in front of Los Caobos. Uber is also widely used in Puerto Rico, with some of the best reviews around.
Places to Go
Besides our things to do section, there's also Ponce's museum of art, the Lookout Cross, the Fire station museum and the Seralles Castle.
How to get Here
Los Caobos is located at road #1 right next to the Police Station on highway #52. If driving from the north ( If arriving at Luis Muñoz Marin airport, you are driving from the north) take highway #52 all the way south until you pass the huge "PONCE" letters that welcome you to town. Take the next exit and you're at Los Caobos. If coming from the south ( Mayaguez) take the fourth exit after the tollbooth.
