We had a short but wonderful stay here while exploring Whatcom County. Quiet farm setting with beautiful surrounding and a well appointed cottage.

Thank you Norm for your kind review. We are so pleased that you enjoyed our property and the hot tub! There is nothing better than a soak in the evening under the stars. :) Thanks again!
The Little Farmhouse worked well for our October visit. It was quiet, even though we shared the grounds with some RVs for some of the time. We especially enjoyed seeing a wide variety of birds out the front window; migrating geese, woodpeckers, bald eagles, and several others. Also, seeing the weather and sun playing withe top of Mt. Baker. The bed was comfortable, but, as the pictures show, there's almost nowhere to unpack clothes. Everything in the kitchen worked as it should, so we were able to cook most of our meals there. It took a couple days to figure out the heat; the bedroom has its own thermostat and radiator (near the ceiling, unfortunately). We turned it off at night because in the mornings it made a faint knocking sound that woke us up because there was pretty much no other sound to cover it. We enjoyed the farm-themed hardware. We were a little worried before the visit because there are quite a few restrictive rules. But it turns out that those are there in case guests cause problems for the other guests. If you're confident that you won't do that, then don't worry about the most restrictive rules. Lisa is very friendly in person, but not intrusive at all.

It’s always wonderful to host guests who appreciate the quiet beauty of the farm. Thank you for sharing your experience, we’re so glad you enjoyed the peace, wildlife, and views of Mt. Baker that make the Farmstead special.
The Little Farmhouse is just that, a little house. Its cozy size means storage is limited, but we’ve added hangers, hooks, and a luggage rack to help guests stay organized.
If anything ever feels unclear, like how to adjust the heat or lighting, we’re always happy to show how things work, just send a quick message and we’ll gladly help. Communication truly is the key to a perfect stay.
Regarding our house rules, they’re simply in place to help keep the property peaceful and enjoyable for everyone who stays here. Most guests find them straightforward, and we’re always available to clarify anything if questions come up.
Warmly,
Lisa & Glen
My SO, the dog, and I had so much fun at the tiny home! We used the hot tub every night, even in the rain, got to meet and feed treats to the barn animals and enjoy the town of Lynden! We will definitely be back!
This thoughtfully equipped house was squeaky clean and cute as a button. The surroundings were soothing to the soul. It may be my favorite BNB so far. One thing I particularly appreciated was the absence of odor from cleaning products or essential oils. I have asthma and use a CPAP machine. Those odors trigger my asthma and leave my CPAP machine so stinky that I have to replace the hose and mask. But not this time! It was clean but not stinky clean!

Super relaxing, cute area. Only downside was the Wi-Fi was pretty spotty at the house and there was a little problem with flies when I first got there. I really liked being there tho and enjoyed my time there.
Prepare to be amazed because our stay exceeded all expectations! The farmstead is a true gem, meticulously cared for and breathtakingly beautiful. Every inch was immaculately clean, and the backdrop of the majestic Cascades adds to the enchantment.
Experience unparalleled tranquility and serenity; every minute here was pure bliss, and leaving was the last thing on our minds. The owners radiate warmth and friendliness, making you feel right at home with their kind energy.
We're already planning our return trip, and we strongly urge anyone seeking a serene, picturesque escape to discover this idyllic haven of nature and farm life! Don't miss out on this extraordinary opportunity!

Ultimate in Cozy Comfort!
Booked Lisa’s tiny farmhouse for an overnight away with some girlfriends, and we were SO impressed! Everything was spotless, comfortable, and well-stocked - really can’t stress how high-end this little getaway felt!
Both the bed and pullout couch air bed were comfortable, the shower had endless hot water and came with shampoo/conditioner/body wash/hairdryer, and the kitchen had everything we needed to make our own meals (even a gas range).
The TV had Comcast channels as well as access to a Netflix account, so we had plenty to keep us entertained as the night went on. At one point when we thought one of the remotes might be low on batteries, Lisa was at our door within 5 minutes with a fresh pair!
Aside from that requested visit, we felt that we had plenty of privacy and enjoyed the views from the house, watching cats explore the farm around us.
We were so happy to find this gem and can’t wait for an opportunity come back; absolutely recommend this to anyone looking for a unique and comfortable place to stay!

Great people, cute house.
We had an unexpectedly chaotic weekend as our baby ended up needing to be rushed to the hospital ending our trip shorter than planned. During the chaos, Lisa and her husband, (and the other few guests on the property) were helpful, kind, and supportive. We did not expect to be cared for as we were, so luckily. As for the house, as advertised, it is TINY, but cute nonetheless. The advertisement didnt mention that the hottub was quite a ways(well like 200ft) from the tiny house and open facing, much closer to, their personal house and garage (was not as "private" as we expected). Also, there is LITERALLY no room for any of your things, like...nowhere in kitchen to unload dry foods, no where in bedroom to unload clothes, no where in bathroom to unload personal toiletries. And lastly, as much as the support during the scary times was nice, we weren't informed that we would have not just one, but ended up TWO trailers about 10-15ft from our tiny house of other guests of theirs. I believe they were relatives/personal guests and they were GREAT people, but still, it became even LESS private than it already was with their house a couple hundred feet away (so much for 70+ acres?). Also had a view of a 8ft pile of dirt/manure directly out the front door which was SUPER SMELLY. I wont lie, when we arrived on Friday evening, I was PRETTY irritated after being up close greeted by Lisa (so much for renting this place to quarantine) and not being aware that they LIVED SO CLOSE on site, and that there was the first of two trailers (clearly occupied) a handful of feet from ours, then got even more upset when we had to go (walk in the cold) all the way to the hottub that was much farther than we expected and falf fenced off TO FACE their home, not even the tiny house. Still, all in all, as I said, we ended up really appreciating and being lucky that Lisa and all the other people were on site with what happened, but I am kind of sad that I didn't feel like we got what we expected with "tiny house of a ton of acreage". I personally think if they updated the listing to tell more about the hot tub location/position, how close their home is to the tiny house that they live in, and that there may he other guests staying within 15ft of your front door, it would be more accurate. I also had kinda hoped we would have gotten a little bit of refund since we ended up staying in the hospital sat/sun but that's totally okay, would have just been helpful.

Hi Kaitlin,
I am taken aback by your review since the last thing you said in a private message to me was how you would love to return in the future. I feel as if the listing was misread or not correctly read through before booking and arrival. I am sorry that I irritated you when you arrived, I was working in the garden, which is where the Tiny House's location as described on the listing. I always greet my guest to let them know about the animals, the property, and where they can take walks. Communication before the booking would have been appropriate to let us know you wish not to interact with us. Also, it clearly states the location of the hot tub is by our house and by the garage and to bring shoes because it is a walk to get there. The listing also clearly states that at times there will be other guests on the property, but the tiny house still sits away from the others and has its spot near the garden. As far as the house being "too tiny" - I am sorry that it was not big enough for your belongings, but it's not called a tiny house for no reason! We provide luggage racks and a bar for hanging clothes as well as several open cups boards in the kitchen for food storage. The "manure" pile by the garden is, in fact, a small mound of dirt that we use to plant pumpkins and squash. The smell you are referring to could be the fresh farm air that comes along with being in the country. Our farm is a busy place with cows, goats, a pig, chickens, and raspberry fields. I'm sorry you didn't get a chance to enjoy the open spaces or meet the animals. I am so sorry that you and your family were dealing with an unforeseen health issue while here, and I hope that your little guy is doing well. I apologize if you feel that our support while we awaited the ambulance's arrival was too close, we do our best to treat our guests like family and show them respect. Right now is a very uneasy, uncertain time for many, and we have chosen to stay open to provide an escape for those needing a break from their quarantine.
The Tiny House is an excellent property, clean, organized and nicely apportioned.
Only surprise was the proximity of the campground to the property but besides when someone was setting up or breaking down camp, barely knew it was there.
We brought our 6 and 8 year old nieces and dog to the Oostema Farmstead tiny house after a day exploring downtown Bellingham. What a great way to unwind. The views were gorgeous from this very well-designed and well-stocked "tiny" home. We loved exploring the farm and appreciated how private our spot was. We didn't make time to use the hot tub, but we checked it out and it was hot and clean! I highly recommend this spot for a great little getaway.

Lovely clean house on a nice farm ! Cozy clean everything you need . Town close by very cute full of nice people. Purchase meat from owners so so good! It was a wonderful stay we will be back again! quiet private! Wonderful thank you for being dog friendly!!!
Rented to be in reasonably close proximity of Mt Baker for skiing as well as also to visit Bellingham. The little cabin is nice and clean and located on the other side of a farm property from the main house and farm. It has a view of the surrounding areas and came very well furnished. Also, you can pre-order items from the farm (ie breakfast foods). Would recommend.
I hope everyone can come and enjoy a piece of this beautiful Farm the owners are fabulous
Absolutely perfect they have thought of everything. The cottage is gorgeous no complaints at all I had my large dog with me and was so well-behaved for them on the farm loved every minute of it you will not be regretful of making this trip to Lynden 🐾🤗
Oostema Farms and the tiny house property is the incredible! I’m so glad I decided to stay there. The view of the mountains from the house was breathtaking. It was such a peaceful stay.
It was a lovely tiny home with a well stocked kitchen to cook in. The tiny home was a great size for my partner and I. It was a great location to take day trips to Mt. Baker (a little over an hour) and Bellingham (about 45 mins). The hot tub was very relaxing and the hosts were easy to communicate with. Highly recommended!
Perfect place for a quiet getaway. Stocked with everything you need and extremely comfortable. Wonderful for bird watching.

About the host
Hosted by Lisa Oostema
Hi, we’re Glen and Lisa. We own and operate Oostema Farmstead, a working Wagyu farm just outside Lynden, Washington.
We live here, care for the land and cattle, and personally look after the guest spaces. Our hosting style is simple and hands-on. You’ll have your own space and privacy, and we won’t hover. If you need something, we’re nearby and responsive.
Our stays are designed for adults who value peace, quiet, and a slower pace.
We’ve been welcoming guests since 2016, and it still makes us smile how many people find their way here from all over the country (and beyond). If you’re looking for a stay that feels like a real exhale… you’re in the right place.
Why they chose this property
We built the Little Farmhouse right here on our working farm, custom-designed by Glen and me, so it’s truly one-of-a-kind. After hosting in our first place (the apartment) we learned exactly what guests needed for a comfortable, peaceful stay, and we built this farmhouse with that in mind: privacy, quiet, and all the little details that make it easy to settle in and exhale.
