Drummond Island is comprised of 87,000 acres, 150 miles of rugged scenic shoreline, 133 square miles of forested landscape, and 34 inland lakes. Within this diverse habitat, a number of rare species, land formations and plants can be found. Drummond Island and its surrounding waters offer a wide mix of land forms to explore. Getting to most of them is easy; getting to some of them has been described as gut-wrenching. The second largest island in the Great Lakes of Michigan, Drummond is located a short ferry ride from the eastern tip of the Upper Peninsula. Therefore, the Island is a relatively easy place to visit for your own natural history adventure. The local attitude toward visitors, “Come often, play nicely,” has paid off in the protection of a wide range of unique public places for you to explore. It is no secret among Anglers that Drummond Island “is” The Gem of the Huron. The waters are as diverse as the fish, aquatic and other types of water wildlife. From it’s pristine clear blue waters and rocky shorelines to underwater shoals and reefs, sand and gravel substrates and vast weed beds, combined with shallow soft bottom flats creates a true Mecca of opportunity to experience fishing at it’s best. This area truly is God’s country. The peace and serenity you will find will have you longing for a return visit to this outdoor paradise. Bring the family and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Falling asleep each night hearing the waves lap onto the shore was glorious! Plenty of space, clean, convenient location all make this a great stay! We will book it again.
Wonderful place! The property manager was great. We really enjoyed the visits from River the yellow lab. As a family of dog lovers with labs ourselves she made our whole visit special. Would definitely visit again.
My husband and I along with his sister and her husband came to celebrate all of our 10 year wedding anniversaries. It was an amazing get away with many laughs. The cabin was perfect. Very clean, well stocked and plenty of space.
We were greeted by the property manager Sherri who made check in super easy. The house was clean, comfortable and in a perfect location for enjoying Lake Huron. The neighborhood was quiet and exactly what we hoped for
This is our 3rd stay at Carter’s. We feel like it’s our home away from home. We love everything about the house, the area, and the neighbors. Can’t wait for next year!
We love Drummond Island and we loved this home. it was as described, very clean, nice beds. We enjoyed the quiet, the stars and the loons on the lake. We went ATVing on the island, hiking and riding the backroads. We enjoyed dining at Northwood Restaurant and Esthers which are nearby. Drummond Island is a great place for those who want to get away from civilization and enjoy the outdoors. Carter's Getaway is a great place to stay.
Quiet, relaxing, and beautiful views. Home was nice and cozy. Had a couple warm days and no air-conditioning but kept it closed off during the day and it cooled off at night. If we ever visit Drummond Island again, I would love to stay here again.
Carter’s Getaway was the perfect home base for our annual girls’ trip! The house was spacious, cozy, clean and comfy, close to the ferry dock but also so quiet and peaceful. We loved being right on the water. While there we were treated to the most incredible northern lights display, which we watched from the dock while loons called in the distance - pure magic. The property manager, Sherry, was very responsive and so warm and welcoming (as was her sweetheart of a dog, River Rose!). Would absolutely recommend, and hope to return again.
Wonderful week on Drummond Island! Very comfortable house with great view of water, spectacular sunrises, and waterfowl. So relaxing sitting on deck listening to lapping of water and chirping of birds.
The kitchen is well stocked, beds comfy, and plenty of hot water for showers. Rooms are all on one level which was a plus for our senior knees!
This is a special find and we hope to return next year!
This was our 2nd stay at Carters Getaway. We love it here so much. The house is perfect and clean and spacious. The view is amazing. It is our home away from home. Can’t wait to come back next year!
Our family has a house on Drummond Island, However there is not enough room for everyone. We found this house and it was close to the other. We found it to be very spacious and clean. My husband and 2 of our grandchildren stayed, wish I had added a couple other family members. The view was great, got some good pictures of the Buck moon and some of the sunrises. It was a nice get away spot. Hope to come back another time.
Serene, beautiful, back to nature. Loved listening to the lions and learning new constellations. The evening stars were spectacular along with the moon & sun rises!
Very nicely located house. In 2018, we booked this house the first time and that’s why we chose it again. The owner made a lot of investments and it eas even better this time. Great view on Lake Huron and on sunrise in the morning.
