1 Bedroom, 1.5 Bathroom, Sleeps 4
About Peter K
My wife and I traveled to Turks and Caicos for many years with friends. We loved the area and kept watching for this development to take hold. When the construction started, these condos were very expensive. We kept watching and the market fell and we went down and picked out our unit.
Peter K purchased this Condo in 2011
Why Peter K chose The Bight Settlement
As soon as I walked into our condo, I knew this was the one I wanted to purchase. You could have 4 adults staying here and feel very comfortable and roomy. A family of four would enjoy the pool and hot tub right outside our door.
What makes this Condo unique
The view is unbelievable. We are not on the ocean so if a hurricane came, we felt safe. Now that we have experienced this first hand we are greatfull for how our unit has held up. We were able to rent right after the storm.

Clean, Spacious, Nice Views
My wife and I stayed at this property for six days and were very impressed. The photos accurately reflect the condo. Plenty of kitchen is fully stocked with quality pots and pans along with nice flatware. The bedroom is large with it's own t.v. The bed was very comfortable. The condo also had beach chairs, towels, snorkeling gear, ice chest, etc. Peter was an excellent host. Very responsive with any questions we had and also provided good information for checking in. Overall we'll come back to this condo. You do need a car to get around though. With a car everything is close by, beach snorkeling area, restaurants , etc. Again a very favorable and relaxing experience.
Absolutely great location. Quieter than the the Grace Bay area but still within walking distance to several excellent restaurants and wonderful snorkeling beaches.
Excellent stay in Provo
The property itself is lovely and well-kept, and the apartment is no different. It is clean, spacious, quiet, nicely-appointed and perfect for those who rent a car while still being appropriate for those getting around by cab. Peter was attentive and very forthcoming, and he thinks of things that other hosts may not. The phone, directions to the back of the property (easier access) and consistent contact were much appreciated. Proximity to a beautiful, sparsely-populated beach (walking distance) was amazing. We wouldn't change one thing about our stay. One note about the water temp in the bathroom: disregard the tub fixture with regard to temperature.
Best Location in TCI
Continue to enjoy the location of LaVista Azul., 10 minutes to the airport and 10 minutes to Grace Bay, yet secluded enough to avoid all the tourists. The property itself is great, and having the two bathrooms was ideal for two adults with different wake and sleep times. The sofa sleeper in the common area was comfortable with the extra memory foam pad. Also love the availability of the two pools - one can go to the kids and the other can be used for great lap swims. Easy access to the unit, and wi-fi was great once we figured out that the network had been changed and the the password changed along with that. Will definitely stay here again.
Problem after problem with this unit that ruined what was suppossed to be a special vacation
Let me start by saying Peter did give us a $100 dinner credit for everything that went wrong during our stay in which he called just small issues. You judge for yourself if they are small issues.
I'll list our biggest problem first. Upon returning from dinner one night we were locked out of the unit. The batteries were dead in the lock. At a lost of what to do we did run into security from the place. They told us to find the property manager on-site they will have a key to let you in. We find the property manager and he then goes to his room to get a key to the unit that will bypass the battery and unlock the unit. He returns and says the property owner didn't give them a key so we are locked out. After talking to Peter his suggestion for the night was they would put us in another unit for the night. The only things we had with us were our wallets and phones. We didn't have anything else we needed for the night and most importantly my wives medicine. The only way we got in was the property manager noticed the one window wasn't latched so he got a ladder and crowbar to get us in. This took several hours into the early morning hours of the next day. Didn't get much sleep that night from being so angry and hot that it ruined the day we just had and missed half the next day since we didn't get to bed so late.
Next issue was no cable or wifi from check-in Saturday until Monday. We aren't people to sit in and watch tv but a little tv while eating breakfast in the morning or relaxing before bed is nice. With no wifi we had to use our carrier plans for service so we incurred charges on our cell phone plan for the 1st 3 days.
Next is the A/C never cooled below 74 degrees. Not sure if it is set to go no lower than that or simply just can't cool any lower. The air filter in it was brown from dust/dirt. We mentioned this to Marie and she told us she was going to take care of it. Never happened.
Other issues are what I would call minor issues. The bed in the bedroom was not comfortable at all. But we understand people like different types of beds. We even tried sleeping on the sofa bed one night which was even worse. Was a blood stain on that mattress/top. There was a tv in the bedroom but that didn't work. The cooler was not in the best condition the handles were broke. You could tell not that many people have stayed in the unit recently due to the basic upkeep needed.
Can't wait to return to Turks and would stay at LaVista Azul just not this unit
I just want to start off by mentioning, after offering Erik $100, plus a free night, for his inconveniences, he instead insisted after returning home from his one week stay, on a full refund. When that wasn’t offered, he threatened to go to their credit card company and VRBO in an attempt to sway my decision.
Regarding the issue he described as being the largest, which was being locked out, I agree that was not acceptable. However, I need to correct the timeline stated, where it was actually less than an hour in total (not several hours), and it was resolved that same evening (not into the early morning hours of the next day), which I have phone records that verify this fact. I don’t understand the reason for the exaggeration in time. Regardless, as previously stated, any length of time was not acceptable. I called Erik as soon as I found out and started brainstorming ideas, since they were unable to find the key that I left them for these types of unusual circumstances. Since it was around 11pm, unfortunately there wasn’t an option on th
e island to have a locksmith come over, which is why another room was offered for the night. When medication requirements were mentioned, I said that they could break a window at my cost, if need be. Luckily there was an open window that avoided that need.
The cable and wifi went down on Saturday night and affected multiple units, due to changes throughout the complex that the provider was making. Unfortunately on the island, the provider does not provide emergency assistance after hours or on Sundays, unlike in other countries, which is why it took until Monday morning to rectify.
The A/C will go below 74 degrees, but at times it has difficulty doing so if windows are left open. The air filter was actually cleaned 3 weeks prior, but I am having a closer look taken to see if a higher frequency cleaning is required.
Thank you for letting us know about the stain on the sofa bed mattress top and the condition of the cooler. We have taken care of those items.
The TV in the bedroom actually used to be in the main room just two weeks prior. We moved it to the bedroom so that guests would eventually be able to watch TV in there as well, however during their stay the cable had not been run yet to the bedroom due to the provider having higher priority items on rewiring the property.
I’m not sure what was meant by “You could tell not that many people have stayed in the unit recently due to the basic upkeep needed”. We consistently had guests stay with us both before and after you, but I welcome any additional feedback/clarity with regards to this.
