The neighborhood is a quiet collection of bungalows just off the beaten path of the more "touristy" parts of the island but still in the middle of activity. Island favorites Queens Bar-B-Que, the Spot Restaurant and Bar, Gumbo Diner and Brick House Tavern are within a 3 block walk along Seawall Blvd. Island landmark Gaido's Restaurant is 5 blocks down Seawall Blvd.
The Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier is 9 blocks east. The downtown Strand Historic District and Cruise Terminals are a 5 minute drive, while Moody Gardens and Schlitterbahn water park are approx. 15 minutes drive west.

Galveston has an impressive 4th of July celebration (fireworks display at the 37 Street Jetty 3 blocks away).
