LionsHome offers in a beach villa one bedrooms with one bathroom including breakfast, situated on a secluded and very quiet property of 700 sq.m with dense tropical vegetation including banana trees and coconut palms, colourful flowers and shrubs.
If you don't have any excursions planned, you can spend the daytime on the shady terrace or in the well-maintained garden - they all have a steady and pleasant breeze. Then you can let the day fade out while you have a sun-downer on the secluded terrace or in the garden.

LionsHome: Do not fear, no lions will be visiting you at night. The name stems from the astrological signs of the owners.

LionsHome has direct access from the main Beach Road (means it is not in the bush - a major security advantage!!!).

LionsHome is only 300 meters distance from the Ocean, so can be reached within very few minutes by feet.

LionsHome offeres you a superb breakfast as you wish and upon extra fees also dinner can be ordered.

LionsHome is offering you airport transfer service at the cost-price of appr. € 40 per direction (The taxis at the airport are substantially more expensive).

LionsHome doesn’t have a swimming pool, but you won't miss it, because instead of chlorinated water you'll swim and bathe in the healthy and relaxing sea: the beach is only 300 m away and offers you smooth white sand, probably unlike anything you have seen before. The water is so warm that you could stay endless inside. On top of that, it’s very calm because the big waves are tamed by the great reef. In our part of the beach you can also swim in times of tide. You can go on endless walks along the beach not only to refresh your spirit but also to calm and cool down your body.

Excursions and safaris:
Kenya is the land of safaris! We absolutely recommend going on a safari and would like to help you with the selection and the reservation. You don't have to book them in advance, it is better to select and to book them on site.

LionsHome takes Security serious: From time to time there are break-ins and robberies in the country; the press likes to tell negative stories about holiday paradises. However, we never had anything like that happening in since the beginning of our stay here in 1992. We want to keep it that way and that is why security is very important for us. We have joined a mobile security group; the house is equipped with alarm buttons, if you press these buttons you activate the alarm and within 2-5 minutes there's a security group, most of the time with at least one policeman at your house.

LionsHome, in addition, is surrounded from all sides by high security walls, so you can spend quiet and undisturbed holidays.

LionsHome has its own generator: In general, there are some power cuts in Kenya but in our region it’s hardly ever a problem. If it happens unexpectedly, we can produce our own electricity with our generator.

The German-Kenyan owners live in the same house and are always there for you. They are looking forward to meeting you! WELCOME!

The best ever holiday experience of our lifetime

Haans is a genial host who takes pride in providing a natural and healthy atmosphere in his villa. He has a very pretty chef ,Ketery, who cooked us amazing healthy meals. The houseboy, Hesborn , keeps the place tidy and does the washing and ironing to a dedicated level. The beach is close about 300 meters .I will write a further fuller rewiew when I get home. Hervorragend

Hans ist der beste Gastgeber. Seine Fürsorge und Hilfsbereitschaft sind nicht zu überbieten. Sowohl die Zimmer als auch die Anlage sind dank Hesborn, dem Hausboy, sehr sauber und gepflegt. Der Garten bietet abends genügend Beleuchtung, ebenso der Pool. Der Strand ist zugänglich durch 2 kurze Wege. Bei Flut kann man sogar die Wellen hören. Sicherheit ist gewährleistet. Falls erwünscht, steht Gans als guter Berater zur Verfügung wegen Ausflüge oder Safaris. Sehr empfehlenswert! Viel lieben Dank, Hans!

Wir kommen wieder

Jambo Hans Wir verbrachten 1 Woche in dem schönen Haus.Das war viel zu kurz. Gefallen hat uns auch die Lage weil es nicht weit vom Strand war.Wir haben uns alle sehr wohl gefühlt.Bei unserer Ankunft fehlte eine Kaffemaschine.Kein Problem für Hans.Er brachte in ein paar Minuten eine gute Kaffeemaschine in die Küche. Wenn wir nach dem Frühstück zum Strand gegangen sind wollten wir unser Geschirr spülen wenn wir zurück vom Strand sind.Aber als wir zurück kamen war alles schon fertig.Sogar die Betten waren gemacht.Das hat uns sehr gefreut. Hans ist ein so freundlicher und sympatischer Mensch. Er hat uns sogar zum Grillabend eingeladen.Wir haben schon lange nicht mehr so gut und viel gegessen.Danch saßen wir am Feuer und haben über alles mögliche geplaudert.Es war ein richtig toller abend. Am nächsten Tag war eine frische zerteilte Kokosnuss in der Küche zu finden. Danke Hans für die schöne Zeit in Lions zuhause Das nächste mal bleiben wir aber länger liebe Grüße Andrea

wir kommen wieder

Jambo lieber Hans Schade das wir nur 1 Woche in diesem schönen Haus waren.Das nächste mal wird es aber länger.Es war sehr angenehm und wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.Hans ist ein sehr freundlicher und netter und ein sehr sympatischer Mensch.Er hat uns zum Grillabend eingeladen und ich muß sagen ich habe schon lange nicht mehr so viel und so gut gegessen. Es war auch intressant mit Hans am Feuer zu sitzen und über alles mögliche zu Plaudern.Ach wie vermisse ich das doch alles jetzt.Es war so schön. Wenn wir gegen abend vom Strand kamen wollten wir unser Geschirr spülen. Aber es war immer schon alles fertig und die Betten waren auch gemacht. Sogar eine frische zerlegte Kokosnuss war für uns in der Küche zu finden. Bei unserer Ankunft war keine Kaffeemaschine in der Küche.Aber alles kein Problem für Hans, in ein paar Minuten brachte er uns ein gute Kaffeemaschine. Es war alles sauber und gepflegt. Perfect getaway! Highly recommend it.

My family and I stayed here for a week and we absolutely loved it.The house is very beautiful, the pictures really don't do this place justice. All together there are three rooms; two rooms down stairs and one great room upstairs. There are 4 beds, 2 twins and 2 queens.There is only one bathroom but it's got dual sinks and it's a pretty good size. There is also a fully equipped kitchen which we loved.There is a resident turtle who's usually roaming the yard, I named him Leon the lone turtle. Along with Leon you can expect to see the owners two little dogs who showed up for every meal and made for great company. There is no tv or radio in the house,but that didn't really bother us. The house is just a few minutes walk away from the beach. Many of the restaurants and bars are just a short drive away we personally didn't have to drive far to get to anything. The owners Hans and Njeri are a very kind and down to earth couple. My family and I truly enjoyed their company. If you are considering coming to Mombasa I strongly recommend the Lions Den; I know I will definitely be staying here again.

We stayed at Villa Benita a week with our two children, the house is very nice and comfortable with everything you need. Hans the owner a true gentleman, he was always very helpful and courteous. He often accompanied to the grocery store, one time evening, invited us to drink an aperitif on the terrace for sunset. Do not book the Safari before; Margit a friend of Hans made us spend two unforgettable days, she does internal roads with the legendary Land Cruiser, where you can see the real Africa! On the way back from Safari Hans and Theresa made a surprise at the guys, a swimming pool in the garden ... The child was crazy!! Alan the cook always very clean and prepared delighted us with his dishes. The beach is very nice and it's possible to play kitesurf ... about 300 meters from villa there is the kiteobsession school, Goodlucky is the owner, where I left my equipment. If you want to stay out of the tourist circuit but with all the amenities .... do not hesitate.

Diani Beach private residence

With the owner and his wife living next door to this lovely property, we felt the best of care and attention during our 3 month stay as well as the enjoyment of their company during our long stay. With the most kind and helpful houseman attending to our needs 6 days a week, we never wanted for anything. The house is situated on an exquisite piece of property in a fully secured and guarded neighborhood. There was never a time we felt unsafe. In addition, a 7 night a week guard added to our comfort leaving us to sleep comfortably on the mosquito netted bed with excellent pillows and sheets. Although very warm this time of year we were always able to sleep at night. Our days were spent outside on the veranda, when we weren't out and about, watching and listening to the wildlife surrounding us; monkeys, birds and bush babies at night. The kitchen and bath are well equipped and if we needed any kitchen utensils or gadgets, the owners we quick to supply our requests. This property is definitely intended for nature lovers and those seeking amazing scenery in the area and with the Indian Ocean nearby. There are dozens of restaurants and resorts with restaurants within a short distance where we dined 2 to 3 nights per week. The prices for dinner were ridiculously low, the food fresh and the service impeccable. There's a full sized grocery store at about 12 minutes away stocking almost anything you'd want. The prices were reasonable. Within a 2 minute walk is a produce stand where fresh produce arrives at 12:30 each day. No chemicals or pesticides are used in the growing process which appealed to us. Three months is a long time in one location. As world travelers, we often stay for these long periods to experience the people, the culture, the wildlife and the vegetation. We loved everything about this area. Of course, we went on safari for a dream of a lifetime experience taking over 600 photos we'll cherish forever. These fabulous hosts, household helpers and property will provide you with a dream holiday befitting the pickiest of travelers. Keep in mind if you are one that prefers air conditions and the utmost in conveniences, this experience may not be fitting. For us, it was ideal.

Erstmals in Kenia

Im August verbrachten wir zusammen mit unseren zwei Kindern (Tochter 15, Sohn 18) zwei Wochen im wunderschönen Lions Home. Schon vor dem Urlaub beantworteten Hans und Teresia uns alle Fragen und waren uns Kenianeulingen in jeder Hinsicht behilflich. Wie vorher vereinbart wurden wir von einem Fahrer am Flughafen abgeholt. Innerhalb von 1 1/2 Stunden erreichten wir das bei Tag und Nacht bewachte Tor des aus sechs Häusern bestehenden, ruhig gelegenen Bougain Villas. Hans erwartete uns schon und zeigte uns den wunderschönen Garten und das sehr saubere, schön eingerichtete Haus. Er selbst wohnt mit seiner Frau direkt nebenan und bot uns sofort an, ihn bei Fragen oder Problemen immer anzusprechen. Das Haus wurde täglich vom freundlichen houseboy Hesborne aufgeräumt und gereinigt, ohne dass wir ihn wirklich wahrnahmen. Ebenso kümmerte sich der Nachtaskari Jeremias in rücksichtsvoller Art um unser Wohl. Wenn wir nicht auf Ausflügen oder am Strand waren, erholten wir uns in dem sehr gepflegten Garten, auf der großzügigen, überdachten gemütlich eingerichteten Terrasse oder dem kleinen Balkon im ersten Stock. Wir gönnten uns die gesamten zwei Wochen einen Koch. Niklas kochte jeden Abend ein wunderbares Essen und räumte anschließend die Küche auf. Wir nutzten täglich die Nähe zum weißen, weichen, von Palmen gesäumten Korallensandstrand (250m. Fußweg). Gemüse, Obst und Wasser konnten wir in hervorragender Qualität am Stand neben dem Haus erwerben. Für die anderen Einkäufe fuhren wir mit den teilweise abenteuerlichen Matatus, deren Haltestelle direkt vor dem Haus war. So konnten wir preiswert und sicher unsere Einkäufe vom Supermarkt nach Hause bringen. Während der Fahrten erlebten wir die freundliche afrikanische Kultur und sahen immer wieder Affen am Straßenrand. Hans und Teresia waren liebevolle Gastgeber, die uns auf rücksichtsvolle und freundliche Art anboten, an ihrem Leben teilzunehmen und uns so ein Stück wahres Kenia zeigten. Wir nahmen an dem wirklich anspruchsvollen Fitnesstraining auf der Dachterrasse teil. Pamela führte für 10 Euros pro Stunde eine phantastische Ganzkörpermassage durch und bestach durch ihre Fröhlichkeit. Hans half uns durch seine Kontakte bei der Organisation von Safari und anderen Ausflügen. An den gemeinsamen Abenden in seinem Garten lernten wir viele interessante Menschen kennen. Lieber Hans, liebe Teresia, wir kommen sicher wieder und können das Haus für einen gelungenen Urlaub am Diani Beach im vollen Umfang weiterempfehlen.

Urlaub pur

Wir sind zum vierten Mal in Kenia gewesen und haben unser Traumhaus für den Urlaub gefunden. Das gesame Haus, die großzüge Terrasse und den Garten vermissen wir jetzt schon. Alles ist in einem sehr guten Zustand. Tägliche Reinigung durch Hesborn und abendliche Unterhaltungen mit Jeremiah (okay wir haben kein Wort verstanden, er telefoniert halt laut). Gut fanden wir auch die unkomplizierte Lösung bei auftretenden Problemen, Danke Hans Jürgen für die Zusatznacht in deinem Haus. Elke ist immer noch begeistert von den Fitnessstunden auf der Dachterrasse und ich von der wöchentlichen Massage. Die Lage vom Haus ist sehr gut, nicht weit vom Strand, was uns beiden wichtig war, da wir ausgiebige Strandläufer sind. Einkaufsmöglichenkeiten sind fast fussläufig erreichbar und wenn es mal der Nakumat sein soll, gibt es Matatus oder günstige Taxen. Wir sind sehr zufrieden mit Euch und werden uns wie abgesprochen im nächsten Jahr wiedersehen. Danke an Alle und Jeremiah es tut uns leid, dass wir uns nicht persönlich verabschiedet haben. Bester Service und größte Ruhe

Ich fuhren zu zweit nach Kenia und suchten zwecks Erholung Ruhe und Entspannung. Unsere Erwartungen wurden weit übertroffen: Bei unserer Ankunft empfingen uns die Gastgeber persönlich mit einem frischen Getränk. Auf der riesigen Terrasse des großzügig geschnittenen Hauses erwartete uns ein großer Früchtekorb. Trotz der heißen Jahreszeit war die Temperatur im Haus angenehm, sehr gut zu ertragen, die Konstruktion und die Lage des Hauses ermöglicht eine sehr gute Luftzirkulation. Eine Klimaanlage ist hier wirklich nicht von Nöten. Unser Schlafzimmer hatte ein wunderschön verziertes Bett (Lamu-Stil, wie wir erfuhren) und war groß und sehr bequem. Wir haben immer super gut geschlafen. Badezimmer und Küche waren gerade erst renoviert worden, dass konnte man sehen und es ist gut gelungen, wirklich schön die beiden Waschbecken im Badezimmer und die Granit-Arbeitsflächen in der Küche, hier haben wir gern selbst gekocht, für einige Tage hatten wir uns einen Koch besorgen lassen, der uns verwöhnt hat, das war dann ganz perfekt! Täglich wurde das Haus gereinigt, Bettwäsche und Handtücher, alles immer sauber und frisch. Viele Stunden haben wir in dem abgeschiedenen, völlig ruhigen und schön angelegtem Garten verbracht - herrlich erholsam! Dank der zentralen Lage waren wir in wenigen Minuten am Meer: wirklich ein Traumstrand, weisser weicher Sand und warmes ruhiges Meer. Hier kann man sehr weit laufen und gut schwimmen, es gibt keine Felsen! Und der Strand ist fast menschenleer, beeindruckend und beneidenswert, wenn man das mit anderen Urlaubsorten vergleicht. Am Tor zur Strasse bewacht immer ein Pförtner die Einfahrt und nachts war ein Askari (Nachtwächter) auf dem Grundstück. Zum Einkaufen sind wir meist mit den Matatus (private Kleinbusse) gefahren, die kommen alle paar Minuten direkt am Tor vorbei. An Einkaufsmöglichkeiten ist auch alles vorhanden. Kleinigkeiten, besonders Obst und Gemüse, gab's gleich am Stand nebenan (30 Meter). Einige tolle Restaurants haben wir auch kennengelernt, manche holen einen sogar zum Essen ab, zu anderen sind wir dann nachts mit dem Taxi gefahren, das auch sehr billig war. Wir können dieses Feriendomizil nur wärmstens weiterempfehlen, besonders hervorheben möchten wir 1. die Lage (zentral an der Hauptstrasse und zum Strand), 2. die Ruhe, 3. das hervorragende Personal und 4. die Aufmerksamkeit und Freundlichkeit des Vermieterpaares. A perfect short family holiday

Staying at the Lions Home from 8th – 16th October 2012 was one of the most fantastic holidays we’ve ever had. We were 4 adults and 2 children and the space in the villa was more than enough for us. The compound is secure and our kids could run around with little or no supervision (if they weren’t feeding and playing with Han’s goats in the compound just behind ours). The Villa is super and the rooms are cleaned and beds made everyday, thanks to Hesbon. This is also a very tranquil location, the beach is clean and full of events and is without the beach-boy troubles common in other places. Hans and Teresia, we would like to really thank you so much for everything. With your assistance, we spent a really good time at the Lions Home; we can’t forget the grill, the Miss South coast stuff, Leleshwa, name it! For sure we will come back again. We recommend this place to: - Families with young & older children and to anyone who needs real peace & fun at own measures. Cailyn, Megan, Ruth, Mary, Lydia & Willie from Hägendorf, Switzerland.

3 Wochen Urlaub sind zu Ende und wir werden das ruhig gelegene Haus und die schöne große Terrasse, die gleichzeitig Wohn- und Esszimmer ist, mit ihrem wunderschönen Blick in den Garten vermissen. Das Bett war bequem und das Moskitonetz gab guten Schutz. (Wir haben keine Malariamittel eingenommen, uns nur abends mit einem Repellent eingerieben und im Schlafzimmer Mückenstecker benutzt) Wir haben einen sehr um uns bemühten, freundlichen und engagierten Vermieter erlebt, der sein Haus gleich nebenan hat. Fast jedes Problem konnte er lösen oder uns damit behilflich sein. Was die Urlaubsstimmung etwas getrübt hat, war ein Umbau im Nachbarhaus gegenüber, 10 Tage Geklopfe, von daher leider nur 4 Punkte. Zu empfehlen sind Ohrenstöpsel für die manchmal ungewohnten Geräusche in der Nacht. (Buschbaby..) Hesborn und Jeremiah, unsere freundlichen Bewacher, waren immer hilfsbereit. Von Johnson, dem Koch, unbedingt Samosas machen lassen, er kocht super. Auch die Safariempfehlung von Hans-Jürgen war ein Volltreffer. Nicht zu vergessen : den Sundowner mit Hans-Hürgen und Njeri in den Shimba Hills; die Nachthimmel voller Sterne; ein herrlich weißer Sandstrand, ein ewig blaues Meer und über die beach boys vorher mit Hans-Jürgen sprechen. Es waren ereignisreiche Tage mit interessanten Begegnungen. Danke Hans-Jürgen! Trude und Günter

La nostra vacanza a Diani

Abbiamo soggiornato a villa Benita dal 31/7 all'11/8. Eravamo la famiglia al completo: 2 adulti e 3 bambini, di cui il più piccolo 3 anni. Il nostro arrivo non è stato dei più fortunati, come sa bene il proprietario, persona squisita e gentilissima su cui contare per qualsiasi cosa. Fortunatamente, il resto dei giorni è trascorso in maniera tranquilla e piacevole. La casa è molto bella, in perfetto stile kenyiote. A pochi metri dalla spiaggia che è perfetta per delle lunghe passeggiate e sulla quale, per fortuna, non abbiamo trovato molte alghe. Siamo un po' lontani dai "centri commerciali" e bancarelle, ma ogni pochi minuti passano i famosi pulmini usati dalla gente del luogo che sono perfetti per fare pochi km e soprattutto molto pittoreschi, su cui ti senti davvero come uno di loro e il viaggio risulta oltremodo divertente. Un'alternativa alla vacanza in un classico villaggio turistico, dipende da quello che cercate... Nella zona ci sono molte agenzie per organizzare il vostro safari e altre escursioni. Un grazie a tutti: Johnson il cuoco, bravissimo, (spero che farai assaggiare gli gnocchi a coloro che verranno!!), Hesborn che si prendeva cura della casa (di confusione con 5 persone ce n'era...), Jeremiah, simapticissimo, silenzioso e discreto che si occupa della sicurezza notturna e naturalmente Hans e Njeri per la loro ospitalità. Hans, spero di rincontrarti un giorno. Buona fortuna per tutto. A presto! P.S. saluti anche a Mimo, Cuccie e Tommy naturalmente! Un consiglio: la spesa nei supermercati non è poi così economica, quindi mettetelo in conto quando andate a comprare il cibo che poi vi verrà cucinato dal vostro chef personale. Cristina
