About this property

Waterfront Cabin Tucked into the Forest

Surround yourself with nature- not neighbours!
The Acorn Cabin is surrounded by 10 private acres of beautiful forest.
"This place is magical!"

The waterfront is deep, weed free and amazingly quiet. This often makes for a serene swimming experience. It's cottage life perfection!

Located on the Magnetawan River at the mouth to beautiful Pickerel Lake, guests enjoy exploring by paddle board and canoe, or hiking one of the many nearby trails. The cabin is also close to landmarks such as the Screaming Heads of Midlothian, Huntsville and Algonquin Provincial Park.

Built with many reclaimed pieces, this cabin is the true definition of rustic luxury.

BEDROOMS
The lower bedroom is cozy, packed with charm and has just enough space for a comfortable double bed. Its large picture windows allow you to awake to the the sights and sounds of nature. It comes equipped with night stand with a phone charging lamp.

The upper loft is spacious. It’s like 'sleeping in a tree house' with beautiful views over the forest. It is 5'10" at its peak and offers a queen, a single and a double bed.

All linens and pillows are provided.

KITCHEN
The cabin is partially off grid, but comes equipped with everything to make your stay comfortable.

There is a filtered coffee maker, kettle, microwave, induction-cook top, toaster and slow cooker. In addition, guests can use the propane BBQ. Plates, bowls, pots, pans and cutlery are all included. The kitchen is stocked with coffee, tea, oil, salt pepper and additional spices.

Although we don't have traditional running water inside of the cabin, we leave fresh jugs of potable water for each new guest, and there is a source to refill as needed.

Enjoy your meals at the picnic table or at the small dining area located inside.

BATHROOM
Without septic, a small composting washroom offers the sweetest indoor convenience.

The BEST feature by far is the luxury outdoor shower with on-demand heated water. It has an optional ‘peek a boo’ forest view for those that really want to connect with nature. The shower alone keeps our guests returning!
Please note that the shower is only operational when there is no danger of frost which is generally June- October.*

INTERNET / TV
There is decent cell service at the cabin but without wifi, some might enjoy a digital detox. In a pinch, it is usually possible to hot spot. Tim Horton's is always available for emergency back up, and is a short 15 min. drive into town.

OUTDOOR AREA
The waterfront is serene. It is rare to see another person while you swim or paddle.
The trail to the waterfront is 'Algonquinesque' with a long staircase wrapping past beautiful rocks. It is approximately 400ft long and takes about 4 minutes at a leisurely stroll.

Because the cabin is elevated, the top section of the trail leads down a set of stairs. It is flat and well groomed from there, but this rental is best suited for guests who are sure footed.

There is a waterfront dock, as well as a deck with seating.
At the cabin, guests have seating around the fire pit as well as a beautiful screened-in porch for taking in those forest views and listening to the wildlife.

Guest access
Parking is available on the long laneway leading up to the cabin

This wonderful spot is nature at its best. Some of our neighbours include moose, beaver, and deer. We would love to welcome you as our next guest!

Quiet & Relaxing get away
Really enjoyed our stay at this cabin, perfect spot hidden away in the forest in Northern Ontario. Enjoyed reading and a coffee in the sun room overlooking the forest. Sleeping in the loft was wonderful. Did some fishing off the dock and in the canoe. Swimming in the river was great, nice to jump off the dock and be in deep water. Outdoor shower was a very unique, great view and pressure 😊. Enjoyed the distance between the cabin and the water, perfect little walk down in the morning. Enjoyed a morning at the Crystal Cave near by, but otherwise was happy to spend the whole time at this place. Felt very welcomed and would love to go back.

We very much enjoyed our stay — excellent hosts! The place itself is very clean and just what we needed for a getaway from the city— no wasted space, everything we needed and a cozy screened in porch on the back which we loved spending time in at the end of the day! The water was a short walk away and we used both the canoe and paddle boat to explore the river and lake :) We didn’t want to leave!!

Craig and Nancy's cabin is all you want for a perfect getaway. I was there with my friends while doing a road trip across Canada and it definitely was the best part of it. Their cabin is in the middle of the forest, with a screen room that works as a chill out zone and it has a magic path that drives you towards their lake. They also provided canoes, kayaks and a paddle boat for us. And don't worry about not having a bathroom! There's a latrine and a handle that works as a shower. Do not hesitate to go there. Highly recommended :)

Hello! We are Craig and Nancy. We built this cabin 32 years ago. It has been an extension to our family cottage which is located on the neighbouring property. Both properties are available together when larger groups rent. The cottage properties are a place of love, laughter and relaxation. We are thrilled to be able to share it with families who will enjoy them respectfully.
