About the host
Hosted by Cam Newton

I'm a 3rd generation Oregonian, and a 5th generation musician. I am a composer, guitarist, recording artist, Music therapist. Have toured and played music all over the US, and have lived and played in Europe, and Mexico. Worked with the elders as a Music Therapist for 17 years. Love, wilderness, natural beauty, the Arts, creativity, and humor are important to me. I have the "host gene" along with my wife Christine, and wish to share our place with people who want adventure, exploration, peace, quiet, and solitude in a beautiful, remote location. Christine is originally from Manhattan, NYC, lived and studied for almost 20 years in Europe, and translates French and Portuguese, as well as speaking a bit of Spanish, Italian, German, and Russian.
Why they chose this property
Back of Beyond is the perfect jumping off point for adventure and exploration! Private, fenced, with no other full time residents living just off of Camas Prairie. We fell in love with this place and decided to leave Portland, and build our dream here!
Hike over 50 miles of maintained trails that run the length of the Warner Mountains in Oregon, and extend into California.
Explore the Great Basin semi-arid desert and the Warner Valley to the East.
Hart Mountain National Antelope Refuge has the largest remaining herds of antelope in North America. Enjoy the secluded hot springs on top of Hart Mountain, or at Hunter's Hot Springs in Lakeview. Ride mountain trails up to 8,000 ft. Rock hound for Oregon Sunstones and Jasper.
Fish for native red band trout (like Dolly Vardon). Fly-fishing on Deep Creek and Vee Lake, or lure fishing for crappie and bass in the Warner Lakes, as well as Drew's and Cottonwood Reservoirs, and Dog Lake.
Bird watch at the foot of Hart Mountain in the Warner Valley, where a series of lakes and wetlands form part of the Western Flyway for migrating birds. There are trails and blinds for bird watchers.
Discover the largest concentration of Native petroglyphs in the entire state of Oregon, on and around Hart Mountain. Native Peoples have lived in this area for over 10,000 years.
This is Cowboy country as well, and sometimes there are cattle drives up or down our road, depending on the season.
Wildlife viewing and photography opportunities are rich here!! Lakeview is called the "Hangliding Capital of the West", and a designated launch site is close to us.
