West Side New York City
Nice place, clean, very much as the pictures show. Pros are: Good location on 9th Ave. corner 54th, so you’re not far from anything. Lots of restaurants within minutes. Bus M11 going downtown, but no subway really close if that matters. Cons: Bedroom so small door cannot really open; if sleeping two in the bed the far person has a tough time getting out, basically has to squeeze around the bed. But it’s NY, so ok.. The couch makes out to a bed, ok for one, wouldn’t be too comfy for two. Kitchen is fine, all new. No spices or anything, not even salt & pepper, but who does much cooking anyway. Living room could use a comfortable chair, there’s only the sofa, small desk and chair. Heat works fine. Contact w manager a little spotty, but ok. Hard first time getting in the building, code entry, good thing you get a video. We enjoyed the apt. overall, and would stay there again.
Best location ever!
We had such a wonderful stay in the big apple. Kiki our host made checkin smooth. We had to change rooms upon arrival as the one we booked was unavailable, but it turned out to our benefit so all was awesome!! It was the perfect neighborhood, perfect location, easy access to Times Square, Broadway, Subway, great food places, and fun night life! The Piano bar on the block was our favorite last stop (and don’t worry, you can’t hear it at night :)! Tell Randy the bouncer the California girls say “Hi”!!
We had some problems with the entry codes at first, and the tv remote was not functioning, a problem that was not resolved during our stay. However, both Eran and Kiki were very responsive to our calls and even came by with additional things to make our stay more comfortable, like a shower mat and additional towels. We got a fair credit for the lack of full tv service. We will use VRBO again.
Great Location, slow communication, beware of checking in
This property has great location and sizable living room. quite comfortable for a couple.
The sofa bed is not comfortable, it is sagging in the middle. so with 4 people, two has to sleep on ground.
Bathroom and Kitchen function well, especially hot water comes very fast.
The draw backs:
1. Checking in with door key wasn't set right. We notified the owner ahead of time that we will be arriving at midnight. She said we can call her any time. But she fell asleep. We could not get in. If not for a kind employee of next door bar which happened to have a door leading to the building's lobby, the four of us will be locked out all night. A few days later, a family from Europe also got stranded outside the lobby door. we happened to walk by. So we let them in. It seems this is a recurring problem, not one incident.
2. Bathroom does not have shower Jel or shampoo. Toilet paper ran out in 3 days (we have a 12 nights booking). I called the owner, paper was never delivered. We have to purchase our own.
3. On the second day, the kitchen sink leaks to the floor. we called in for repair. It took them 2 extra days to send a plumber.
Other than these disruptions, the stay was nice. Walking to Opera house, central park, theater district; lots of eateries and restaurants. Street noise is tolerable, it is New York.
The price is unbeatable.
Pleasant, but could be great with some improvements
Nothing to really complain about, just need some improvements to improve the quality of the stay. Pros- great location with easy access to restaurants and tourist attractions (i.e. Lincoln Center, Central Park, Times Square, Rockerfeller Center, etc). Washer/dryer combo is a luxury although with instructions on how to set the dryer to reduce dry time would be great. Fridge had plenty of room and wifi is great, although during inclement weather it seemed to be a little inconsistent. Water tank heater was great, so access to hot water was quick. I enjoyed the keyless entry into the building and apartment, but the manual punch pad wasn't so good. It didn't seem to work for us, but the app to unlock was very handy! Cons- already mentioned by others, but more towels and cleaning towels would be helpful. Using better toilet paper would be nice. Instead of using multiple rolls, a double, quality tissue would save on usage. Blinds need to be replaced, although it didn't affect me as I don't mind a little light, but I can see how it can ruin guest's sleep who like it dark. Temperature control in the bedroom ran a little hotter than the living area, but anything further away from the AC unit could get quite warm even when the AC was turned down. Maybe I didn't know how to use it properly. The TV in the room should be connected with cable. The water pressure for the shower needs to get corrected. It should be directional or have enough pressure to get to the end of the tub, not just 1/3 of the tub. The sofa bed mattress needs to be replaced. It's too soft and required a sleeping position adjustment every so often, so the bed frame didn't dig into your back. Overall, the apartment was pleasant and because of its location, I would stay there again. Be aware that you can hear noise coming from the street below, but it's not unbearable. Just make some improvements and this would be a great place to stay.
We had a wonderful 3 day stay in this charming contemporary apartment - great location, bright rooms and good AC! Will come back again!
