Fantail Cottage is a cute 2 bedroom Lake Rotoiti holiday home with an additional 1 bedroom self contained unit, located in Gisborne Point. This laid back, family-friendly home is set across a single level with an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area.

This Lake Rotoiti holiday home is situated on a generous section, that allows room to safely park your boat (up to 7m in length). With a recently built fish cleaning area, this is a great spot to have as a base for a fishing holiday!

You will find 2 bedrooms in the main dwelling of this Lake Rotoiti accommodation. The first is fitted with a queen bed, and the second with 1 double bunk set. Located in the studio unit is a double bed, and an additional bathroom and shower.

The closed pot-belly fireplace is perfect for toasty nights around the fire when the weather gets a little colder. On days when the weather is a little brighter, set yourself up on the deck and relax in the sunshine!

Close proximity to the boat ramp and lake means you are never far away from a day of outdoor pursuits on the water. Hot pools are accessible by boat only (10 mins).

Shake Rattle and Roll

The house was exactly as described, but “some road noise” was not very accurate. We left a day early as we basically got no sleep in the studio - not because of the noise (but it was constant - we live quite close to a reasonably busy road ourselves) but it was the shaking every time a truck went past and that was very very regularly . It was fine during the day, as there was other noise about and we didn’t spend any time in the house, but when quiet at night it was quite an experience!

Info required for turning on rangehood❓Turning on tv. ❓Didn’t sort out either. Rangehood possibly not wired in❓Or if used would have eliminated detrimental effects to the property from cooking🙄Vibrations from heavy traffic at times significant.

The main reason I booked this bach was because it said it had a kayak.

The main reason I booked this bach was because it said it had a kayak. Unfortunately the kayak was not available for us to use. Luckily I had not told the kids in advance. However the thing I really need to comment on is the traffic. There is constant loud noise from trucks going past on the main Whakatane - Rotorua Highway. And not just noise - the ground and the entire house literally shakes as though there has been an earthquake when a big truck goes by. It is very disconcerting.

Lake Rotoiti is a lovely location to stay.

Lake Rotoiti is a lovely location to stay. The house is well equip, clean, well maintained and was sufficient for our short stay. It is quite close to the road, so every time a truck passes, the house shakes, a surprising amount! It kept us awake the first night but we were getting used to it by the second. The bottom mattress on the bunk is very thin and uncomfortable, perhaps suitable for very small kids only, other beds good. For the price, the house was a fair deal. Thanks
