WHY STAY ANYWHERE ELSE IN HILO BUT CLOSE TO BEACHES WHERE THE WEATHER AND SNORKELING IS BEST!!

For guests who want the cool comfort of AC when staying in our islands our beach vacation rental offers just that! While some of our guests prefer the tropical breezes, with windows and doors kept open and ceiling fans going, we realize some guests prefer and need the comfort of AC.

Our three bedroom beach house and studio units were given the name Hale Nani Ma Ka Lihi Kai which means, "Beautiful Home at the Ocean’s Edge". It was given by Kumu Hula's (teacher of hula) who visits us every year. They bring their Halau (school of dancers and musicians) to Hilo every year to compete in the World Famous Merrie Monarch Hula Festival.
Our vacation property is located a few steps from the ocean and beach where guests enjoy just lounging in the sun or swimming. Many of our guests enjoy exploring the ocean tide pools, seeing turtles feeding along the cliffs, and dolphins playing further out in the open ocean. A few minutes drive down the road there is a popular beach park Richardson's where guests also enjoy snorkeling, boogie boarding, and swimming.

Our older Kama'aina beach home includes an upstairs one bedroom unit, two bedroom downstairs unit, and an adjoining studio unit. Our beach property is very popular with multiple families who want to vacation together but have individual units for private times. There is also a large outdoor covered patio for grilling and dining. Families enjoy their evenings here while dining and listening to the ocean.

The upstairs one bedroom unit includes a queen bed in the bedroom and a queen futon sofa sleeper in one of the living rooms, full kitchen and bath, two living areas, and a large patio overlooking a pond and garden. Although, there are ceiling fans throughout, air conditioning is also available for those warm tropical nights. The downstairs unit provides a kitchen area with microwave, refrigerator and other small appliances, a living room and dining room area, full shower bath, small and large outdoor patios, and two bedrooms one with a full size bed and the other with a queen.
A walkway connects the studio unit which has a full kitchen, living and dining area, and shower bath. This unit also provides a queen bed and full size futon sofa sleeper..
There are cable TV's through out the living and bedrooms with large screen TV's in the living areas.

Our vacation rental is located in the heart of Hilo and along the ocean drive to all the beaches. It is ideal for visitors looking to visit all the popular sites on the east side of the island. The home is 5 minutes from the airport, shopping, restaurants, gardens, fish markets, and Hilo’s popular Downtown Farmer's Market. The Hawaii Volcano National Park, Waterfalls along the Hamakua coast, and Rainforest ziplines are about a 20-30 minute drive away. The world famous Arnotts’ Tours that include, Volcano, Mauna Kea Star Gazing, and other famous tours is less than a five minute walk from our home.

We had a wonderful stay in Hilo. Our host took care of everything! The information before and during our stay was excellent. The property was well maintained and so welcoming. Everything we needed was provided. So convenient to Hilo attractions and great food, yet you felt like you were in your own private world. It was perfect for our family.

We had a lot lovely stay with 4 adult couples. Two couples shared the 2 bedroom on ground level unit and each of the other couple each had their own one bedroom. The outdoor kitchen was great for all of us to get together.

Very homey, lots of room!

This home was perfect for our family of 10! It was very clean and stocked with everything needed for cooking. The bbq area was wonderful and we loved spending our evenings outdoors. There were several different beaches nearby for swimming and snorkeling.

Great place for hitting Volcano National Park

Amazing Oasis in Hilo!

Fabulous accommodation for a group

Perfect for our group of ladies in Hilo for a two week competition. There are lots of separate indoor and outdoor living spaces and the shore is just steps away. Claudia was a great host. All of the units were very thoughtfully appointed and well supplied. The beds are comfy, the place was immaculate and in very good repair. We would book there again.

The house was wonderful. Everything was very clean and comfortable, and all the units were very well equipped. The air conditioners cooled things off quickly in the evening. The grounds were beautiful, and you have your own natural white noise machine with the chorus of frogs at night. The setup was perfect for our party of 9, although the bedrooms in the downstairs unit are small and feel a little claustrophobic/dorm like. The outdoor shower was a big hit for rinsing off after a hot day.

Perfect Getaway

So impressed with the ease of entry and the welcoming spirit of this home.i appreciated the attention to detail that Claudia provided to make sure our stay was comfortable and we had all that we needed. Loved the bread,cookies and bananas that were left for us and the fact that all steps were marked and well lit for safety as i had suffered a broken wrist at Charlotte airport before we boarded the plane. The walk to the beach was lovely and we had an epic trip. Mahalo!

We arrived at the property and was so pleasantly surprised that it was so much more than expected! My daughter and husband arrived first, I got a text saying, “this place is AWESOME!” When my son and his family arrived, he too said this place is much nicer than expected. It had everything needed, kitchens so we’ll stocked, we will definitely return. Host was very responsive when emailed with questions, A/C worked in all rooms, and we were so very comfortable.

Paradise in the Jungle!

The home had every amenity you could think of, it was perfect for family gatherings. It rained daily while we were there, but watching the rain with a coffee or cocktail in hand from many of the outdoor covered areas was enjoyable. The property was filled with fruit trees, plants and flowers. The frog chirps came out in the evenings, and the geckos joined us outside daily, we enjoyed their company. According to our 5 and 8 year old grand kids, it was the "BEST Vacation home ever"! We all agreed, Mahalo!

Peaceful Getaway

This house and suite were perfect! The entire properly was clean and well stocked with supplies. The beach is a very short walk (less than a minute) down the paved street. When we would go to the beach the parking area would be full, but generally the tide pool would not be busy. The house is located in an area that makes you feel somewhat isolated, but the conveniences of the city are only 5-10 minutes away. Our party of 7 had no problem finding spaces to relax and enjoy our stay. The hostess kept in contact with us when needed, and answered all questions in a very timely manner. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking for a nice Hawaiian getaway.

Perfect!

We stayed here with our family of 9 adults. We occupied all 3 units at this property. It was perfect for us. Lots of space and privacy for those who wanted it. It also had room for us to gather on the lanai and have breakfast together. Claudia also left us some of the best sweet bread I have ever had, and coffee! She had thought of everything for the house. Lots of amenities and small touches that made the stay truly special. She even called after we arrived to check and make sure everything was in order for us. We would stay here again!

Phenomenal place. Clean, quiet, close to everything, and Claudia was just a nice host!

We did catch two roaches in the room. However when we talked to locals at the Ponds restaurant, they said that's part of being in Hilo. Claudia did say we should have called her and she would have taken care of the issue (Claudia said she hates having bugs in her home and was surprised to hear of our situation, as her husband does spray the outside structure) but I personally feel anyone expecting to go to Hilo and not expect bugs/geckos is being quite unrealistic. My wife and 8 yr old daughter also enjoyed meeting Claudia and her daughter. I would definitely stay in this location again without hesitation. You are close to volcanoes, Hilo, restaurants, and beaches. Thank you Claudia. Till next time!

Hi Warren, It was also so nice to meet you, your wife, and your daughter Skylar. Skylar's got a beautiful and friendly personality and I can see she's gonna be a pleasure to watch grow up. I also was certainly surprised to hear about the two roaches as my husband uses a home defense system regularly to prevent those creepy crawly insects from getting into the house. Excellent Hilo property - with one very significant caveat!

Great property for staying in Hilo. A short walk to the rocky coastline with tidepools for keiki and a short drive to the extraordinary dining, shopping, parks, and beaches of downtown Hilo. There is a very nice outdoor covered patio area and excellent through the wall AC in all rooms. The upstairs1BR is quite nice and was our gathering place for inside meals and conversation. The downstairs 2BR is a bit cavelike - fine for sleeping but no one wanted to hang out there. The Studio we didn't get to see despite the info in the listing. Which brings me to the caveat. Nowhere in the listing does it say that you won't be given access to the entire property if you don't meet the owner's expectation on number of guests - she rented out the studio to someone else during our stay. We expected to put our eldest daughter in the studio. We had dreams of putting my wife's mom in the studio but didn't really believe she would be able to join us on the Big Island in these COVID ridden times until we met her at HNL. But when we arrived we found that our keycode didn't work on the studio. So our daughter very kindly slept on the sofa in the downstairs living room. I honestly don't know how you would book this property if you have 4-5 people and expect to get the entire place without other guests in the studio.

Aloha Leo, I really appreciate your kind review of our three bedroom beach home but feel I need to respond to your concerns. Our current listing of the entire property for $385 nightly does include all three units; upstairs one bedroom unit, downstairs two bedroom unit, and studio, however, your booking request which was made over a year ago did on the website indicate that for 5 or less guests the nightly fee included just the one bedroom upstairs and two bedroom downstairs units. Your booking request and the contract I provided indicated just 4 guests (yourself, your wife, daughter, and son) and the contract and Welcome Letter indicated just the two units with the nightly fee of $245 which you paid for 4 guests. At the time of your booking we did have a base rate for four guests with a charge of $30 nightly for additional guests for up to 10 guests. It was only this past November that the listing changed and now indicates a set nightly fee of $385 for the entire property for up to 10 guests. While you informed me the afternoon of your check in that your wife's mother was now with you and needed the studio, I was unable to accommodate you and felt bad that you had not informed me earlier of the additional guest. Had I been informed earlier we could have worked out the adding of the studio unit. I was also surprised that you indicated your daughter needed to sleep on the downstairs sofa as you told me she would be sleeping on the queen futon sofa sleeper in the upstairs living room where I provided additional bedding for her use. I am sorry if the four beds (three queen size and one full size) used did not provide enough comfort for your family of five. Please know that I fully enjoyed meeting your wife and your daughter during their previous stay at our beach home several years ago and appreciate having you and your family as return guests. This property is better than the pictures depict. Lots of privacy and just steps away from the beach. Clean, comfortable and spacious. Our favorite parts were the singing frogs and multiple outdoor spaces. We plan to visit again.

Great house for adults or children

The three separate living quarters were great. Having a common outdoor area to sit & talk or cook on grill or just sit alone to read was used by all. We had seven adults and each one were thrilled to have time to themselves or join in a group to walk five minutes to beach for great photo ops.

Families will enjoy the closeness of the ocean cove where little ones can safely swim, explore tide pools, and collect shells and other artifacts that the ocean delivers daily on the beach.
