Very nice spot in between Bozeman and Yellowstone. Comfortable bed, beautiful views and great little room. The only downside is it’s in the property owner’s backyard and the lake is a fair walk downhill to get to the lake. The owners were extremely nice and friendly. Recommended spot for a peaceful place to stay while exploring the area.
This guest cottage was amazing...everything needed for a relaxing stay! Super clean and cozy! Unparalleled views in every direction. It is true that the guest house sits behind the main house but that wasn’t an issue for us at all. We will definitely book again!
This property is fine. It is certainly clean and new. The listing is a bit misleading in that the space isn’t super private and it is not right on the lake. The space is half of the homeowners detached garage and the homeowners house is between the garage and the lake. So, yes, there is lake access, but not at all in the way it is described and photographed in the listing. Apparently you have the freedom to access things like a “wrap around deck”, but just know you’d be sitting on someone’s deck while they’re home (and at times with their own company visiting).
The kayaks were fun and the little sitting area down by the water was nice. The homeowners provide all amenities you could think of for remote travel. The nearby town is charming as well.
The rental seems like it would be okay for folks looking for the camping-like feel/trip. The price and photos in the listing led us to believe it was right on the lake and more private than it was. We wouldn’t stay again, but we would totally recommend it for people who are into a more quirky travel situation.
The property is absolutely amazing.
The cabin is really nice and perfect for two people.
The location is pretty secluded and lake access is super easy.
The hosts were are very friendly.
It was the perfect weekend.
My partner and I rented the paddle house for a little mini honeymoon during COVID. Bob and Dallas were incredibly welcoming and made us feel at home at this beautiful property. A couple switchbacks away from the lake, and the indoor pool was a fun bonus. We would absolutely recommend this rental for anyone looking to stay in the area.

Nice and quiet spot
The living space itself is very nice, just like the pictures, it was very quiet which was a little unexpected! We figured the lake would be busier, but we’re pleasantly surprised to find it wasn’t. Our only issue was that the proximity of the rental was misleading in the pictures, there is no deck facing the lake and the fire pit pictured is right outside the hosts home (very awkward) so when you sit outside the rental you see their house then behind it the lake....that was disappointing for sure!

Hi Laurel, We want all of our guests to rest easy when they stay with us, and we're sorry that you experienced some issues during your trip. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:
-The paddle house is situated behind the main house and offers access to the lake via a short walk
- At the water's edge, guests have their own fire pit with wood provided
- Additionally, there are two kayaks for guests to use free of charge
Thanks for letting us know about your stay!
This had one of the most amazing views I have ever seen! Loved how peaceful and quite it was out there. The room itself is awesome and the kayaks were a lot of fun! I would recommend this to everyone!

Breathtaking Gem on Ennis Lake
We came to Ennis for a long weekend and were amazed by the accommodations at the Paddlehouse. Bob and Dallas (along with their dogs Stella and Miles) were incredible hosts. We appreciated the warm welcome and the well appointed property was clean. It provided all the creature comforts we could have imagined.
The views of the lake are breathtaking - the fire pit was the perfect place to have a cup of coffee in the morning before we started our day.
We definitely plan to stay again and highly recommend this vacation rental.
Paddle House was pristine, comfortable, and cozy in an amazing, beautiful lakefront setting. The photos in the listing almost looked too good to be true, but reality does not disappoint.
The studio lodging is not spacious, so I would NOT recommend spending all your time inside, but who goes to Montana to stay inside?? One sink serves the kitchenette as well as the bathroom, and counter space is limited, so don’t try lots of multi-step food prep.
The bed is very comfy, and everything is new and clean. We didn’t use the indoor pool, which would have been an extra $25. We enjoyed relaxing in the red chairs by the lake, as the hosts’ dogs wandered freely.
Fishing on the Madison River was wonderful! Our one-day trip to Yellowstone was well worth the travel (although spend more time there if you can!)
Bob and Dallas were responsive and accommodating before and during our stay. Ever friendly and helpful, they offered up recommendations on places to eat, drink, shop and fish. All in all, wonderful hosts on a great property!!
We had a terrific stay here. The property was everything as described. The hosts were also fantastic and gave us a few good recommendations on places to eat or see. Thanks you so much for a great weekend. We will stay again !
The room was new and very clean. We had full use of the main house's deck and seating. The location was great - close to Ennis but a secluded retreat with great amenities.

A perfect couples getaway in the last best place
We were so excited to be among the first to stay at the Paddle House When you arrive, the incredible views of Ennis Lake greet you, The house is easy to reach, yet ultra quiet. From the bluff above the lake one can take in the full expanse of the Madison Valley. On Ennis lake below you watch eagles soar, osprey dive for fish and flocks of pelican bobbing. Walk straight down to the lake or down the road to Clutes Landing, the lake’s public fishing access. Bring your water toys and enjoy paddle boarding or boating on Ennis Lake. Bob and Dallas are the ultimate hosts and have created a lovely, modern Montana getaway. The room is beautifully appointed. Artwork on the walls and counters made us feel like we spent time at an upscale home, not a rental. This brand new, single room unit has everything you need. A great little oven that we used to fix breakfast, coffee maker, fridge, and WIFI. We spent one bad weather afternoon watching Netflix and HULU. Cups, utensils and all the dishes you need when you don’t feel like making a quick run to McAllister Inn for dinner or to drive the 10 minutes into Ennis. In the evening you’ll find two welcoming Adirondack chairs in front of your unit, perfect for reading a book while taking in your surroundings. When it came time to turn down the lights we found the bed super comfortable and the room easy to keep at the desired temperature. Adjacent to your room you’ll find a gem of an indoor swimming pool. In the summer, open all the windows for an outdoor feel and in the winter, enjoy a heated pool with incredible views while the weather is raging outside. The pool gave the place a spa like feeling. We felt like home away from home in a beautifully appointed environment in the last best place.
