About this property
Mid-century Modest Cottage at Pierpont Beach
Regarding Covad-19. We always take extra care with the cleaning of Coral Cottage. I make my own cleaner to avoid all the nasty chemical cleaners. I mix vinegar (many do not know that vinegar is an antibacterial) water, Mrs. Myers cleaning solution, and now I am adding propyl alcohol to amp up the effect. There is hand sanitizer, alcohol and gloves for your convenience, but the best is washing your hands for 30 seconds. Please wash you hands when you return home, and follow all suggested precautions from the CDC. Please do not put any hand wipes in the toilets. My maid always wipes all handles, door knobs and cabinets, anything touched by hands, and I am wiping them a second time.
The kitchen is the central area of the Cottage with a counter looking into the living room. With two skylights, natural light floods the house all day. Wherever possible, I have tried to make it sustainable. We removed all the old carpet, laminate flooring and linoleum (from the 50's) tile. The use of low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) paints was very important to me, as I did not want there to be any out-gassing. The exterior was light blue with turquoise trim. We repainted it a light gray and turquoise, and added a touch of Coral around the windows. I found a cool door that looks like it is from the 50's. The original concrete floors were repaired and shined. I had the kitchen cabinets refaced instead of replacing them. We also reconditioned the original wood windows. Wherever possible, I have used cotton and natural fibers. The lawn was removed with the "sheet mulching" process, and replaced with mushroom compost. It takes longer to remove, but there were no chemicals used. Sometimes I use vinegar on pesky weeds. Currently, the garden is a work in process, and soon it will flourish as the mushroom compost is super enriched. There are succulents (from my BFF's daughter's wedding), and other drought tolerant plants. The toilets and shower heads are low-flow. My cleaning service is allergic to chlorine, so I am thrilled to say that she is familiar with the cleaning and sterilizing qualities of vinegar and baking soda. We also use Mrs. Myers products. One bedroom features a comfy queen bed with all the pillows and blankets you will need, and French doors that lead out to the backyard. The master bedroom has a queen bed with a bathroom with a shower, and a garden window with my shell collection. The gardens are a work in progress. In the living room you will find local brochures on what to do in Ventura and surrounding areas. I EVEN CREATED A CHARGING STATION FOR DROIDS AND MACS. There are a lot of amazing surf spots nearby including Ventura Point, Pitas Point and Rincon. There is a gas grill, a wood fire pit (the back neighbors have complained about the smoike, please do not use), a big screen SmartTV, blow dryers, an air conditioner in the main bedroom and the living room and lovely patio table and chairs in the backyard. There is also an Airbed for extra people, plus 2 twin beds. (There is an extra charge for more than 3 people). The kitchen has a full size gas stove, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, blender, coffee maker, French press (you might find some coffee in the frig), a small Crock Pot, and plenty of cooking supplies. There is a full length mirror on the bedroom doors. The Pier is about 1.5 miles north; To the south is Marina Park and Beach which is a great kids beach. There is plenty of parking, picnic areas, and a small tot sized ship for exploring. The bike path and state beach are about 4 blocks north. The Seaward business district has plenty of restaurants and only 5 blocks(beach blocks are short) to the south. (See the guide book in the guide). Ventura is a not only a city, but a county with numerous cities and communities with their own personalities. There is great hiking in the hills. Coral Cottage is a block to the beach. Ventura County Fairgrounds are about 2.5 miles away, Downtown has lots of restaurants and fun shops. We also have a live music scene and an artist community. Lastly, please enjoy your stay. Thank you for choosing Coral Cottage.

Why they chose this property
I fell in love with Coral Cottage when I first saw her. She so reminds me of the first house my parents bought in the 50's. I lived at the beach a few years ago, and I plan to move into this house one day. All of the neighbors are super friendly, the beach is not too hectic (except when there is an event going on). You can walk to just about everything and leave the car parked. If you want to get out of town, it is easy to get on to the freeway. There is so much do, plenty of shopping, relaxation, boating, whale watching, restaurants, art galleries and events, live entertainment, the bike path is a few blocks away, things to do at the County Fairground. You can find great produce at the numerous farmer's markets in the area.
What makes this property unique
Mostly natural fibers throughout the house. Cleaning products: vinegar, baking soda, Mrs. Myers, Oxyclean, fragrance/chemical free products and elbow grease. No chemicals or pesticides in the garden. I do not supply softener or dryer sheets for the laundry, not good for the environment, also over time makes towels less absorbent
