Our underground home is set in the desert town of Cooper Pedy - renovated and loved, the property has a stunning outlook and an above ground deck to watch the stars and sunsets and is beautifully appointed on the in. Originally my fathers place, a young man from Ireland, who set out to make his fortune in the Outback mining for Opal - a story told over and over again of adventure, dust, heat and hope!

We wanted the experience of staying in an underground opal miners home and that is what we had, it was fantastic.Much larger than we expected with full kitchen, lounge area two bedrooms, dining area, bathroom, just like home. Can thoroughly recommend the premises
We loved our stay in Kerris Dugout!!! We were there for 3 nights and fell in love with Coober Pedy too. The dugout is very well located and lots of sites are walkable but a car I needed to get around town. The Dugout is authentic, clean and well equipped, comfortable and fun! Host Kerri was extremely helpful and easy to communicate with providing heaps of information and hints. Highly recommend!!!
When arrived to property, there was no given instructions how to check-in even tho I've sent a few emails prior. After a few calls, host said sorry, but property is booked. Host tried to find another place, but all motels/hotels were full because it's xmas/nye period. Would not trust this host.
Staying in this underground home felt like being in a Fintstone cartoon, but without the dinosaur under the sink eating the rubbish!
It was a lovely consistent temperature after the heat and it was beautifully finished and furnished.
There was everything we needed to cook a meal and we appreciated the list of local tours we could do.
We absolutely loved our stay in Coober Pedy and highly recommend it. If we get the chance to return to CP, we would try to stay at this property again.
We spent two nights in this unique underground location. Neighbor Bob greeted us and was interesting to talk to. Great wifi. The temperature outside was 44 degrees when we were there but our rooms remained cool.
