So much to do in the NORTHWOODS!
THINGS TO DO (other than lake activities):
In Shell Lake you need to check out The Potter's Shed. It's a short, scenic drive and the place is awesome. Lot's of artisan shopping, knick-knacks, live music, food and drinks. They also have a magical experience for the kids. Ask for the map of the hidden Fairie Doors in the outside garden area. Check out their website for current events.
*Lots of local festivals throughout the year. Make sure to check your travel time to see what's happening locally.
In Rice Lake there is a TON to do. Check out Tactical Escape 101. A fun "Escape the Room" experience great for the whole family. Experience the beautiful Golf Resort of Turtleback just a 15 minute drive from the cabin.
In town: indoor shooting range, hardware stores, grocery stores, coffee shop, mall, souvenirs, restaurants, trails, fishing, etc.
Don't miss out on the breweries in Hayward and Chippewa Falls!
Do you like to fish or hunt?
Some of the best fishing is out your back door. Public hunting land is literally within walking distance. Over 100 lakes within 20 miles.
Snowmobile or ATV? We have a trail just minutes down the road?
Restaurants we recommend RICE LAKE: Lehman's Supper Club, Tokyo Japanese Restaurant, Casa Mexicana, Adventure's, Norske Nook.
Restaurants we recommend CUMBERLAND: The 5 O'Clock club, the pizza joint on the lake...
You must head into Cumberland to visit Louie's Finer Meats. They have the most amazing "award winning" meats. Great for a quick visit or to stock up for the week. Fantastic assortment of groceries and drinks. If you are staying May thru October make sure to stop at Country Quiet, the campground down the street. Quick convenient mart and the BEST ice cream ever!
About Tony Giese
My name is Tony. I am the hard-working force behind Wanderlust Properties. I have built many of the amenities with my bare hands, brute manliness, stellar good looks and epic beard.... and of course assistance from my wife, our 2 daughters and very generous friends. We have plans to create more vacation experiences in the near future. Please come and share in the adventure. (written by Lindy, since Tony would never talk so highly of himself) Ok, my turn... Lindy is too humble to mention that she is the mastermind behind Alfheim. I will mention that I am of Swedish decent and my wife is Norwegian. Together we like to explore our Scandinavian heritage and thought the cove of Silver Lake was perfect for our Fjord. She designed the Nordic experience and I hope you love it as much as I do. We want you to take the time to explore the cabin's details and discover the history behind much of the decor. You also need to take time to enjoy a fire and an adult beverage of course.
Tony Giese purchased this cabin in 2015
Why Tony Giese chose Cumberland
Location, Location, Location!! After staying all over Wisconsin ourselves we decided we would like to be able to own a location to share with other families. We searched all over the Northwoods originally thinking we wanted a cabin in Hayward. This location spoke to us and ended up winning for its sheer beauty, clear spring-fed lakewater, and gorgeous wooded acres. It is close to everything yet far enough away to enjoy the silence and clear skies. The lake is quiet and serene. We have never seen more than 8 boats out at a time including the 4th of July! Wildlife is everywhere. Bald Eagles are here year round and the calls of the loons gives me chills every time. Great fishing, bird watching, recreation and relaxing.
