About this property
Mexican village! 1/2 block to beach! Pool! Casa de la Alegria at Casa-Pacifico
Welcome to Casa-Pacífico in beautiful Nayarit, Mexico. This unit (Casa de la Alegria) is one of two on the property.
This property is truly a walk-to-the-beach home. Stand in the street in front of the house, turn to your right, and the Pacific Ocean beckons you -- 100 steps away. In addition, there are several cafes in the neighborhood as well as small markets. 6 blocks will take you to the center of La Penita where you will find shops, markets, banks, restaurants and bars - just about anything you need.
The casita itself is a two bedroom, one bathroom unit. A/C for bedrooms. Sit outside in the garden right outside your door for morning coffee, or in the evening, take the stairs to your roof at sunset, while you listen to the waves and catch the ocean breezes. Maybe you'll be lucky enough to be here during one of the many meteor showers! This casita is a detached unit, separate from the main house, and adjacent to the pool. A full kitchen allows you to eat in whenever you like but you are still close enough to town to head in to one of the outstanding cafes and restaurants. A short walk down the beach will take you there in minutes. Or purchase tamales and tortillas from the street vendors in the neighborhood.
A large bathroom and a roomy living space make this the perfect home base while you explore all that Riviera Nayarit has to offer: colonial buildings in nearby towns, surfing in Sayulita, jet-skiing, mountain drives, markets, ruins, hot springs, volcanoes, and miles and miles of beach. You can easily explore the other towns in the area - San Pancho, Rincon de Guaybitos, Los Ayala, and Lo de Marcos. You will be about an hour from Playa las Tortugas and the turtle camp there. San Blas is another hour beyond.
All linens and towels are supplied (including beach towels). Both queen beds have pillow toppers and high thread count sheets. I have tried to equip the home with everything you will need - basic spices, cooking oil, bottled water, etc.) but if there is anything else you require, just ask. The property has two rental units as well as the owner's home. They all share a courtyard and garden as well as a pool.
I am located in Colonia Pescadores in La Penita. This is an authentic Mexican village, not a flashy resort town. It is a quiet, laid-back neighborhood with a true flavor of Mexico. The street is a mix of homes, small local businesses, a few hotels/rentals, a school across the street, and lovely neighbors!

About the host
Hosted by Lissa Young

I'm a native of Colorado but have traveled all over the world. I kept returning to Mexico. I usually stay in rental homes, and decided I needed one of my own. After a career in an office, the openness of the beach and the Pacific appealed to me. When I retired, I chose La Penita as my new home.
Why they chose this property
I love Mexico, its people and culture, and its climate. I see the Pacific right down the street every time I leave the house. What's not to love? I wanted a place that was close to an international airport for the convenience for family and friends, but far enough away to be out of the frenzy of the tourist areas. My neighborhood is a slice of Mexican life - families, businesses, a school, recreation, great neighbors - and I am in the middle of it, drinking in all that La Penita has to offer.
What makes this property unique
The location to the beach is a big plus. I enjoy the walled courtyard and pool as well as the detailed brickwork in the homes themselves. The neighborhood provides a realness that is often missing in the resort areas. Since I live on the property as well, I am available should you need anything. I'll leave you alone if you want, but am here if you need assistance or recommendations. Need more space? Ask about additional one bedroom on property!
