This Bach is perfect for having a base whilst you go adventuring, it has ocean views, a balcony and a BBQ. Some sporting equipment is available for use and a dartboard. There is also a safe swimming spot a 2 min walk down the hill. The main living area is located on the second storey up a ramp and there is a toilet in this area. The bottom storey has a bathroom through the garage which includes a shower, toilet and washing machine. Great place to chill, bach was amazing and lived up to the name. Pouto point was remote and beautiful with a great community vibe - would definitely stay again!
We had a lovely time and very much enjoyed all the historic reading and wish we'd found the instruction book sooner. The place is classic kiwiana with all the quirks. The area quiet but stunning. The trip to the lighthouse and learning about the history of the area is a must.
Stunning spot. Step back in time and immerse yourself into the 1960s kiwi bach vibe complete with everything you could need including board games, local history information and a Famous Five novel. A must do for thrills, adventure and amazing views is the 4WD buggy trip to the lighthouse. Ask the locals.Scott could not have been more helpful. Cheers mate.
Slice of paradise, comfortable quintessential kiwi bach. Great communication with the host

Nice outlook, lovely beach. Property poorly maintained. Upstairs toilet is off small bedroom. Toilet light switch also turns on very noisy extractor fan. Downstairs toilet and shower accessed from ouside ramp through a garage. The garage rolladoor hard to open and makes an awful racket, so going to any toilet at night wakes up household. Mosquito tumblers in water from tap, which was boiled but still not nice to drink. We left after 2 days of a planned 5 day stay.

You probably don’t need to close garage door especially if you know people will be using the toilet in there, common sense really. Other than that all I can say is it’s a bach 🤷♂️
This bach on the Kaipara harbour is exactly what it says on the tin - a quintessential kiwi bach.
It's old and a bit ramshackle, you won't find any mod-cons and your cellphone reception will be patchy. The nearest shop is an hour away and only a few of the baches around you will be occupied. You can hear the beach from the kitchen (which is very well set up), will have seabirds perch on the balcony (fantastic views), and be able to get to the water in less than a minute (miles of beach and hardly any people).
Everything a kiwi bach experience should include.
The bach was very clean on the living level and the water and power worked well. The shower had a bit of a drainage issue, but had good water pressure for a beach shower. The description notes that the shower is "downstairs" but I would further clarify that it is outside and downstairs along with a second toilet. If you are used to rustic kiwi baches this won't be a surprise, but if you aren't it might be! This area was the least clean, but still in very good nick for a bach.
Overall, if you want a comfortable simple "get away from it all" beach experience, and are willing to venture of the beaten track to get it, you will not be in away disappointing by choosing to stay at this bach.
